Shamrock was only big in Pancrase. His “Hall of Fame” came only after Royce left the UFC.
I agree with bigdickdaddy that he deserves some respect, but the fact is he was never that good and now it is just sad to watch him fight. Rizzo is already too old to rock n’ roll, Shamrock is 10 years older than him… Even Frank Shamrock, who is a lot younger and better than Ken, retired already.
I think Ken is looking to get killed in the cage; go out in a blaze of glory, butit’s not happening. It’s more likely he will get crippled before that.

Ken spent all his money, and that is his problem. He can’t stop fighting, and losing, or go broke. But at this point, he will be a sad punching bag willing to get destroyed for pocket change. Who would come to Ken’s Gym? He destroyed that chance after his lackluster performance on TUF. Will the WWE take him back? Why would they? Would anyone believe it if he won, even if it was fake?
It is the downward spiral for a former UFC legend, and the end will not bode well.

Ken must seems remarkably unintelligent. I remember watching him with his incredible skill in Pancrase. Age or not, how can he stand there with zero head movement, taking the kicks, and absolutely no detectable game plan. He’s really an empty shell of a fighter. I like how Rizzo threw the leg kicks in after throwing a few punches to distract Ken, vs firing just a single leg kick which I see to often in MMA.

Ken’s head movement in there was horrible. If this would have gone to the ground it would have gotten worst for Ken. He’s just way too slow now. I’ve always liked Ken, a true pioneer to the sport, but you’ve got to know when it’s time to give it up. Or else all you’re doing is embarassing yourself.

Rizzo was a great fighter until Couture. I have never seen a worse case of total mental anihilation than Rizzo after that fight. He never moved fast again. Something inside of him broke and I think it was his gas pedal.
Now, he is just a sad shadow of his prime years.

Really, was Ken Shamrock really that great of a MMA fighter? Seriously – HOF or not, it was more or less being in the right place at the right time. If Royce didn’t leave, you would have never remembered him. At least Coleman was beating on Rua and had some fight in him.
