ken was actually looking good before that combo….
Making that “disbelief face” after the fight won’t change what happened Ken.
WAR SAKU
You can’t see it from the video in this fight but Steve Mazzagatti was the ref.
LOL @ rick.
Very strange stoppage for a Pride fight. Usually you had fighters nearly beaten to death before a stoppage. No doubt Shamrock was hurt, but they should have given that a little more time.
he turned away and wasn’t properly defending himself. good stoppage.
holy crap, someone smaller than ken kicking his ass? um, that shoul’ve been his sign to stop doing mma then and not bother fighting tito. lol.
Quick stoppage for sure.
thats so fast, and so funny!!!sorry shamrock
you suck!
They always stop things a little quick in Pride and if Mazzagatti was the ref, it explains a lot.
if shamrock didnt go out the ring like that and at least jumped guard or went for a takedown fight would deff still be going on as we speak… like this minute.. slowly..
Shamrock was ktfo get over it
shamrock is a sore loser, once upon a time for ken, that’s all i have to say. give it up kenny, make room for the new breed. great stop, he was not defending himself. PRIDE FOREVER.
instead of pawing like a kitten maybe shamrock should have hit like a LION…get it lions den? lol
I’ve never seen two fighters that looked so scared to be fighting. I don’t think that more than 10 punches were thrown, and they were almost feints.
Are you kidding me?? that was the quickest stoppage I’ve ever seen worse than the Kimbo fight.
Ridiculously early stoppage. He turned away to defend his head from any more shots, but he was clearly not KTFO and was obviously defending himself (hello, he TURNED AWAY – that’s defending himself). He didn’t fall down glazed over, he didn’t drop his hands…
I’m not a huge fan of Shamrock, but that stoppage was asinine.
That was definitely some home cookin’, but I don’t think Ken had a chance in the long run anyway.
WAR SAKU!
when you turn to the ropes like that ken it’s like your tapping (pride rules)
It had the early stoppage because it was Pride and the Jap fighter was advancing. If Ken had been advancing, the ref would have waited until after the memorial service to stop it.
way early stoppage. but that ref cam was awesome. they flew steve M in the ref?
ken, always calling an early stoppage. Refs saved ken from more than one brutal unconscious KO.
Kierenmac ihave this fite on dvd at home and ken fell down and lost consciousness for a split second and the ref saw this and ended the fite..and as soon as he called it ken woke up that was a good call by a great ref ..i watched it in slow motion and zoomed and it was a flash ko as they call it if u watch the shamrock vs don frye fite ken was ko’ed for a split second and sprung rite back up imo if u lose consciousness for a split second the fite is over
Tsc Shamrock and his “i can be slapped like a bitch more ref” face. pwned again.
Yea the stoppage was kind of early, but lets face it, Ken getting beat up is really old now. I’d rather have Ken in one piece, hope he retires soon. REF CAM IS THE MOST AWESOME VIEW IVE EVER SEEN THOUGH!
Horrible stoppage, bias japanese.
It was stopped quickly because he’s not Japanese, if the shoe had been on the other foot, he would have to beat Saku within an inch of his life for the stoppage. It was always like that in Pride.
I agree with Adam. There used to be normal video of this fight online that wasn’t the ref cam perspective. I remember watching this fight and watching the replay from several different angles. Shamrock got caught straight on the jaw and was unconscious for a period of time. He pretty much passed out and fell towards the ropes defenseless. There’s no doubt that he would have taken a lot of shots and punishment. Remember, pride allowed soccer kicks. I would say the ref definitely made a good decision here.
This fight took place in 2005. If you look at his last 5 fights (2005-present) they all ended in losses due to either TKO or KO. I think with his age and the blows to the head that you take with a decorated career in MMA that Shamrock has he’s lost his ability to absorb punches. I think Shamrock’s jaw is really suspect now and I think he blacks out when he gets hit. He did it in like, 2 of the Ortiz fights. He gets hit, blacks out and then comes to his senses after the stoppage with a look of disbelief. I sincerely think he doesn’t know that it happens, but when you get to watch the replays you can see that he’s out and the ref is stopping him from getting seriously hurt. I wish Ken would have retired before the Tito fights because now he’s going to retire as a joke. I’d like for people to remember Ken as the guy who submitted Bas Rutten twice, and not the guy who’s been knocked out in the first round of his last 5 fights.
Shamrock got rocked.
sham was lame there at the end
he was cowering in the corner.
I agree with danada. Ken was a force to be reconed with to bad he didnt know when to retire. MMATKO is a kick ass site.
If the fight went on Ken would have gotten hurt bad. His lights were clearly out.
