7m8sec just to get the fight started – man, UFC “dramatic buildup” back in the day was even longer and stupider than it is now.

The sport has thankfully evolved from this fight into something resembling MIXED martial arts, as opposed to one or two dimensional hacks.

Fuckin awesome! Great old school post. I remember being in 6th grade when the original Ultimate Fighting Championship aired on payperview. Me and my best bud (who’s locked up for murder now) begged for like a week, finally my parents agreed. They went out to the bar so they had no idea the kind of violence we would be absorbing. As we watched the French Savate fighter kick a Sumo in the mouth so hard his tooth flew out into the crowd i remember thinking WTF? Where’s all the ninjas and chinese stars and shit? Ahhhh….the good ol days.

I never liked ken. Never thought he was all that of a fighter. even though he did pretty good in Japan and in the early days of the UFC, I never liked his style or his technique. He never evolved into or with the sport like his brother did. In my opinion, this is Ken´s best fight. A true old school classic.
