Ken makes a great point about pay.

The UFC should be like the NFL, NBA & NHL but they are not they (UFC) hogs the Cash & Revenues.

It should be a 50/50 split like major league sports.

Time for a fighters Union.

The entire pay for the ufc roster was around 29 million dollars for 2011. Manny Ramirez made 32 million by himself in 2011.

UFC fighters have to pay for all thier training too, so even if they win 100′gs they only take home maybe 30g’s of that. Thats for the top paid guys.

Ken Shamrock needs to stop talking about the UFC. This is a punk (I will not call him a man) who doesn’t even want to have commissions regulating fights. He doesn’t want rules or even a ref in the ring. Not only that, but the UFC is what made him rich. Come someone please give ANY information that the UFC gave a main eventer “only” 10k to fight and 10k to win? Yeah I didn’t think so. The guys who are getting that kinda money are the guys from the local circuit. Without the UFC YOU COULDN’T MAKE A LIVING AS A FIGHTER. For those who keep crying shut up.

@Danby Yeah I read that. Now, let me ask you something,how long as UFC been around? Since around 1991 right? Okay, so lets see how long the NFL has been around? Since 1922. Well since the NFL had a 70 year headstart I’m sure UFC will catch up. Not only that, but how much do you think the UFC makes per event? They have to gold press conferences rent out stadiums, put out a s*** ton of advertising, and everything else.

Find me a document that shows all the numbers and I might give it the time of day.

@mmaboxingfan – you’re right. IT IS like the fighters are on pins and needles. THEY SHOULD BE.
They have had to fight and scrape to just to make it to the big show, and once there they have to take it to the next level or gtfo. Making it to the UFC is just the beginning, not time to relax. If I get comfortable at my job, I probably won’t have it anymore, and what I do is no where near as competitive as FIGHTING GROWN MEN IN A CAGE. If these guys do well and make a name for themselves they are well taken care of and everyone knows that. If they wanna be a dick about it, and aren’t willing to play ball….well they made their own bed. These guys bought a failing business and made something out of it. They’ve taken good care of the guys that played ball and helped him them get to where they are and will continue to do so. It’s not much different than any other business.

@Afan323 I think the point of the article is that the ufc is making BIG money in comparison to the fighters. Did you read the part where they broke down how much the fighters made per event. It was something like for every 1000 dollars the ufc made the fighters made 32cents.

There is definitely some room for improvement. This is only compounded by the fact that the UFC is a monopoly.

Really the ufc fighters should go on strike, but most make so little that they cant afford to do this, and the ones that do make ok money dont want to risk thier income.

Although there are some that do make excellent money, the majority don’t. Factor into that the small window they have to actually make money before thier bodies are ruined and you have a real recipe for disaster. They have maybe 10 years and thats it. Some less.

I have to give my props to Ken. He wasn’t my favorite fighter, but it’s funny today. I have played many fighting video games that had you create fighters. I been noticing that I made a lot of fighters like him lol as in his style. Catch Wrestling.
