Log in to Reply kaution187 January 31, 2012 They release the salaries… and he’s being upfront. Guys should not be getting paid $13,500 for a main event or main cards and Dana and company driving/flying around like movie stars. Something isn’t right here. Did anyone check out the dump Carlos Condit had with his wife and newboarn…and hardly no furniture. The Diaz boys just stopped living together in an apartment. And the list goes on. Naw, sumthing not right bout the fight salaries. Log in to Reply Danby January 31, 2012 Good interview. Interesting perspective from Ken. Seems like a descent guy too. Log in to Reply realbobert January 31, 2012 Are you kidding? Shamrock is a ****ing joke and so is all the stupid shit that comes out of his mouth! Log in to Reply realbobert January 31, 2012 …. oh and Condit made $249,000 in 2010 in salary alone! Log in to Reply donkeyboner January 31, 2012 ken shamrock and sully erna should get together and pound each other in the butt while saying macho stuff Log in to Reply Bob January 31, 2012 Ken makes a great point about pay. The UFC should be like the NFL, NBA & NHL but they are not they (UFC) hogs the Cash & Revenues. It should be a 50/50 split like major league sports. Time for a fighters Union. Log in to Reply Scorpius February 1, 2012 @Realbobert…This man helped build this sport! He’s fought more guys than loads you’ve dumped on your keyboard. Show some love for a hall of famer!! Log in to Reply nolan1259 February 1, 2012 donkeyboner sully erna is awesome. Godsmack is sick. Log in to Reply FailSonnen February 1, 2012 Ken’s right about one thing: Dana is a bald baby douche Log in to Reply Danby February 1, 2012 The entire pay for the ufc roster was around 29 million dollars for 2011. Manny Ramirez made 32 million by himself in 2011. UFC fighters have to pay for all thier training too, so even if they win 100’gs they only take home maybe 30g’s of that. Thats for the top paid guys. Here read this. Its actually quite informative. Maybe you could post this or something bruno. http://www.csub.edu/kej/documents/economic_rsch/2011-09-06.pdf Log in to Reply Twana February 1, 2012 It looks like Dana ass hole white has a group of ass holes with him. U **** C Log in to Reply instanthops February 1, 2012 Dominick cruz is a underpaid champion! Go check out how much he makes each fight and you will see. Log in to Reply TheViciousone February 1, 2012 An old sour man. Why doesn’t he mention the money that was lent to him by the UFC? Obviosley true. NBA, NFL etc have been around for decades. Lets look back to the first couple years of these other sports and see what they are paid. I bet you would find that interesting as well. The UFC is a private entity. They dont have to do shit. Perhaps the fighters can pay the UFC for the marketing and the platform that they become superstars on. Maybe there should be a kick back from the sponsorship they receive because of the environment the UFC has created. If there was no UFC what would be of these cry babies then? Hey you don’t like the money you make then do something else and stop the complaining. That would be too hard though. People love to complain. Ken you are a loser. “Nobody realized what this was”. Thats right so f*ck of*, get some money and your own idea. Just like the Fertita’s did. Ohh wait thats right your too stupid to do something like that. You sqandered your money and now have nothing. Don’t cry HOMIE. Log in to Reply uncledana February 1, 2012 sully is a bitch Log in to Reply mmaboxingfan2 February 1, 2012 Roy nelson made like 10,000 dollars agaisnt his fight with cro cop lmfao. Cro cop got like 250,000 dollars meanwhile at first they wouldnt give dan henderson 250,000 a fight… but bisping made 420,000 when he fought mayhem hmmmm…… Also if a guy gets kicked out of strikeforce or ufc there totally screwed like where do they go? Bellator? I guess that would be the only decent one. Dana always has chuck liddell, forrest griffen, kenny florian all the nuthuggers get on there knees with there shinpads for dana white talking. All the other guys are scared to speak up because dana will find a way to cut them. Lorenzo said look what happen with tito and we brought him back yes but tito was still a major sellout and would bring in alot of money…. Its like the fighters are on pins and needles because if they get kicked from sf or ufc they screwed. Like it seems the ufc does treat fighters well but the pay is dumb. The fighters dont need to make millions but when you got a guy like cro cop who sucks making big bucks it doesnt make sense. Another one is cung le he made 340,000 dollars when he fought wanderlei what is up with that? Wanderlei is way overpaid too. Log in to Reply Afan323 February 1, 2012 Ken Shamrock needs to stop talking about the UFC. This is a punk (I will not call him a man) who doesn’t even want to have commissions regulating fights. He doesn’t want rules or even a ref in the ring. Not only that, but the UFC is what made him rich. Come someone please give ANY information that the UFC gave a main eventer “only” 10k to fight and 10k to win? Yeah I didn’t think so. The guys who are getting that kinda money are the guys from the local circuit. Without the UFC YOU COULDN’T MAKE A LIVING AS A FIGHTER. For those who keep crying shut up. @Danby Yeah I read that. Now, let me ask you something, how long as UFC been around? Since around 1991 right? Okay, so lets see how long the NFL has been around? Since 1922. Well since the NFL had a 70 year headstart I’m sure UFC will catch up. Not only that, but how much do you think the UFC makes per event? They have to gold press conferences rent out stadiums, put out a shit ton of advertising, and everything else. Find me a document that shows all the numbers and I might give it the time of day. Log in to Reply Yembo February 1, 2012 @Danby.. Thanks man, that article was a good read and an eye opener into the reality of MMA monopoly. Stay at school kids, do you homework! Log in to Reply donkeyboner February 2, 2012 @nolan1259 – no. no he’s not. @mmaboxingfan – you’re right. IT IS like the fighters are on pins and needles. THEY SHOULD BE. They have had to fight and scrape to just to make it to the big show, and once there they have to take it to the next level or gtfo. Making it to the UFC is just the beginning, not time to relax. If I get comfortable at my job, I probably won’t have it anymore, and what I do is no where near as competitive as FIGHTING GROWN MEN IN A CAGE. If these guys do well and make a name for themselves they are well taken care of and everyone knows that. If they wanna be a dick about it, and aren’t willing to play ball….well they made their own bed. These guys bought a failing business and made something out of it. They’ve taken good care of the guys that played ball and helped him them get to where they are and will continue to do so. It’s not much different than any other business. Log in to Reply Victoria, BC --Canada February 2, 2012 the ufc is the 99%….. hhahahaa… lol… J/K… relax… I’m just joking. Log in to Reply Danby February 2, 2012 @Afan323 I think the point of the article is that the ufc is making BIG money in comparison to the fighters. Did you read the part where they broke down how much the fighters made per event. It was something like for every 1000 dollars the ufc made the fighters made 32cents. There is definitely some room for improvement. This is only compounded by the fact that the UFC is a monopoly. Really the ufc fighters should go on strike, but most make so little that they cant afford to do this, and the ones that do make ok money dont want to risk thier income. Although there are some that do make excellent money, the majority don’t. Factor into that the small window they have to actually make money before thier bodies are ruined and you have a real recipe for disaster. They have maybe 10 years and thats it. Some less. Log in to Reply Lodovik February 2, 2012 @Afan323 From UFC 141 payouts: Jim Hettes: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus) def. Nam Phan: $8,000 Not that I want to argue that they deserved more, but it’s true some guys on the main card do not make a lot of money. Still I think MMA payouts are way more fair than payouts in boxing. Log in to Reply KetchupNLiquor February 2, 2012 I have to give my props to Ken. He wasn’t my favorite fighter, but it’s funny today. I have played many fighting video games that had you create fighters. I been noticing that I made a lot of fighters like him lol as in his style.
