Ha. 30 more seconds and he would have been choked out. Good fight though.

Be honest, Bruno. How much money did you lose on that going to decision?

And did anyone else catch Bill Mahood’s name called? “The Butcher” must now be judging. Nice.

Bruno: None. Put $500 on JDS to win and $200 on the fight going the distance. I did lose $200 on the Demian Maia vs. Mark Munoz fight.

in the first round cigano should choked out carwin..

Nadie Says, in 6-12-2011 at 00:34:54 from

cigano played safe with carwin because of carwin power but with cain he will go for the ko

Carwin was a little outclassed in this match. But he was brave, and his cardio held up. Impressive win by JDS, though the ending was a bit awkward for JDS.

carnau what the f*** are you watching Lol. seriously? i really doubt that. if submitting is the other way around rofl dude train with the Nogueira brothers nuff said. i like both fighters… dos santos really impress me with this fight and carwin has a killer chin. great fight.

That last choke wasn’t deep. Great fight JDS, I knew his boxing would be to much for Carwin. Props for Carwin for surviving the first round, another ref would have stopped it!

i wish shane would have choked him out or ground and pounded him at the end to win why cause i bet a tenner on shane thanks dos santos

dana looks piss off because cigano beat carwin and because he knows cigano will ko cain and then another brazilian holding a belt

Philo Says, in 6-12-2011 at 08:07:00 from

Cigano’s striking looked much crisper and tight. then the last fight with big country he looked good and Carnau even if there was more couple more secs i really dout he would of got chocked from that.. He is a black belt and uses those black belt skills to get up and sub D Hes very underrated in that and how he uses his jiu jitsu.. And Bruno damn u r the man that was very fast up load i watched the fights on here like 20 mins after they aired thanks man had tight weekend no PPV for me.. Glad ur on top of ur s***..

PitFighterZ Says, in 6-12-2011 at 09:30:26 from

@carnau: he stopped defending when the bell rang, Carwin was so desperate that he wouldn’t let go. JDS could have easily defended that.

@Nadie: I agree he should have gone for the choke instead of letting Carwin get up, but I’m not so sure about going for the KO with Velasquez in any less cautioned way than Carwin.
Velasquez may be smaller, but he does have the most powerful punch measured by sports science to date. Velasquez is much more challenging as he is quicker than Carwin. I think Velasquez v. JDS will be the best HW fight in the history of the UFC (considering only the quality of the fighters).

ericsson Says, in 6-12-2011 at 09:35:04 from

Carwin was exposed big time
he didn’t do s***

Rio_warrior Says, in 6-12-2011 at 10:01:03 from

Carwin showed nice cardio there. Cigano fought a smart fight. I dont think the choke position would have evolved if there was more time.

nuno Says, in 6-12-2011 at 10:59:19 from

I would like to remenber what dana white said one year ago about carwin and lesnar fight: We have the TWO BEST HW IN THE WORLD IN THIS FIGHT. In October brock was easily smashed by Cain, now Carwin was exposed as midle HW class with JDS. Dana = liar. Carwin should fight with Mir,Struve and joe Beltran. That’s is league. Carwin and Lesnar are not top talented fighters just look at their performences against real good fighters. really bad and we can’t say that their were in a bad day.

madona Says, in 6-12-2011 at 11:17:40 from

Dos Santos won thanks to his reach. Carwin did not have the best gameplan. If Carwin had worked to get inside, go for the takedown to push to the cage and hit him there up close, Carwin could have won.
Carwin would have won by sub a few seconds after the bell.

madona Says, in 6-12-2011 at 11:19:03 from

Carwin just got over damaged in the first round.. with a get inside gameplan i would say Carwin has 45 percent chance of winning a rematch.

madona Says, in 6-12-2011 at 11:19:32 from

Dos Santos would get owned by Overeem.

is anybody else shocked that herb didn’t stop it in the first? I think anybody could’ve justified that, he wasn’t defending and took tons of shots. I know he recovered and wasn’t dazed from the 2nd round on, but that was f***in brutal for a min.

Chris Says, in 6-12-2011 at 13:12:31 from

Cain is was f***** either way
And Overeem is gonna kill Junior

Rear Naked Smoke AKA Hands of Stoned Says, in 6-12-2011 at 13:21:46 from

Yeah, I thought it should’ve ended in the 1st, but that’s just some weird Lasnar/Carwin karma, that’s all. You don’t think Carwin was taking that beating and still thinking to himself “Holy s***, this is just like what I did to Brock!”?
Now, let me ask this without being too accusatory. Didn’t Carwin look like a shell of what he was? He lost like 35 pounds of muscle, looked like s***, and inexplicably, is suddenly a full 2 inches shorter than he was. Now what could have caused that………….?
Seriously, 6’2″?? He was taller than Brock the first time he stared him down. You gotta be kidding me.

lastusername Says, in 6-12-2011 at 13:21:57 from

there is no way that carwin would have choked out jds at the end if there had been more time on the clock. jds would have easily defended it. he knew time was up already so there was no need to defend.

Jack Says, in 6-12-2011 at 13:25:12 from

I think Overeem will crush JDS. Overeem is overall far superior striker than JDS. After
UFC-131 revealed that UFC heavyweight division
is way overrated. Strikeforce have far superior
heavyweight division bar-non. Lesnar and Carwin
two best heavyweights in the world? Like Dana claim I think not after getting exposed like that.

nuno Says, in 6-12-2011 at 14:05:57 from

I agree with jack and I think the fight should ended in the first round too. That was brutal because we needed to wait for JDS get tired to see that the face of carwin was like r****. The nickname of Junior is Cigano, I’m Portuguese and Cigano means gipsy and in Portugal gipsy is a race of bad bad persons who live robbing, drugs, like gangs. Scary scary people. JDS in the cage is scary I don´t know if Overeem whould win that easy. Let’s wait, UFC only have Cain and JDS has top fighters.

mojommatko Says, in 6-12-2011 at 14:10:25 from

Carwin was completely confused on how to deal with the super-secret, Brazilian, state-of-art fighting technique called the JAB

Diet and cardio are secondary to basics: 1)see the jab coming, 2) slip the jab, 3)counter.

From the middle of the 1st round onward, it must have been clear to both fighters that Carwin wasn’t going to get anywhere near JDS.
Props to Carwin for continuing anyway although it was painful to watch

Beast w/ 8 Limbs Says, in 6-12-2011 at 14:35:07 from

Damn, Shane Carwin’s striking is slow isn’t it?

jdk Says, in 6-12-2011 at 15:22:59 from

WOW! no way should cock lesnar be ranked #2… JDS is a machine, velasquez will definitely have his hands full.

nice job for JDS (although wish he would have destroyed lesnar instead)

Tempted Says, in 6-12-2011 at 16:34:29 from

To those saying Carwin was “exposed”, you’re all idiots. Carwin showed he was man enough to be in there with the best in the world. I wasn’t expecting much from him past the 1st round. He was still swinging in the 3rd. JDS is a monster. He should best Cain in 5 rounds, 50-45.

Nadie Says, in 6-12-2011 at 16:51:52 from

Cigano will ko Cain.. i dont understand the hype of cain wins over nogeira, brock and congo dont mean much… Cain is a great athlete sure good fighter but cigano is in other level..

gripman Says, in 6-12-2011 at 17:32:56 from

According to some of you, Carwin and Lesnar are now no good. Please consider that matchups make fights. It’s how intelligent people know how to pick the underdog. Did anyone else not see that an elite striker with great take down defense is hard for a wrestler with heavy but not as fast hands to deal with?

Also, 30 seconds would mean nothing. Junior didn’t attempt take downs for the whole fight and only did it at the end for emphasis. The man that should have won did win.

Jack Says, in 6-12-2011 at 18:59:15 from

“Nadie” is right that JDS most likely KO Cain.
Best heavyweight in UFC is JDS. I like to see
by end of next year JDS vs Overeem or JDS vs Sergei Karitonov. I think this two Strikeforce heavyweight fighters are only strikers can win or knockout Junior Dos Santos. All other UFC
heavyweight fighters are way overrated by Dana
hype machine.

Nuff said.

PitFighterZ Says, in 6-12-2011 at 20:38:00 from

I think Brock is overrated, but Carwin is not. He is very good still. I think StrikeForce has a much deeper HW division, but Cain, JDS and Carwin are still as good as most of the top 8 in SF.
Lots of possibilities for great fights between UFC and SF. When they merge, the HW might become one of the best divisions all around.

sooooopernate Says, in 6-12-2011 at 22:08:02 from

@RNS (kinda cool that you’re on here so much that i can just say “RNS” now) if that truly was Karma, then carwin would’ve pulled it out in the 2nd. It was eerily similar tho.

Oh and idk who said this last time, but it need repeating here, if you’re gonna say “nuff said” in your posts, do it at the beginning so we know not to read it.

Nuff said.

Fury Says, in 6-12-2011 at 22:16:24 from

@Madona 100% accurate — I was about to post the same thing..He didnt work to his strengths but then again his corner is to blame. It was ovious Shane had no chance in hell in a boxing match, So go for a take down..that doesnt work then get his ass on the fence and use dirty boxing … He has short range power. JDS has too much and Carwin is very basic in his skill set.

ramrod Says, in 6-12-2011 at 23:31:32 from

Pitfighter you must be out of your mind Cain can take a punch have you seen him against the Chieck Kongo fight he took three vicious shots and still pounded out Kongo… Strikeforce has good heavyweights but i dont know just how good they are yet we might see them come fight for the UFC got a feeling

60ndown Says, in 6-13-2011 at 10:37:20 from

no doubt who won that.

JoeDog Says, in 6-13-2011 at 12:15:32 from

Interesting how dos Santos makes the sign of the cross after the judges score, thanking his god for his steel hands after brutally pounding Carwin to pieces. Religious madness, the holy trinity of MMA; stand-up, clinch, and ground….? Blessed be the winner.

randumo24 Says, in 6-13-2011 at 15:41:15 from

This fight went pretty much how I thought it would go. MMA is a game of matchups really. Carwin relies on power striking and being hard to take down.

Honestly, I think Brock would have beaten JDS, just because he is much better than Shane at takedowns and ground control.

dirty Says, in 6-13-2011 at 16:56:50 from

Amazing no one has mentioned that this was most likely Carwin’s first post-steroid fight. He lost 30 pounds! Right after the Brock fight info came out about him being connect to steroids. For some reason this received very little scrutiny in the media. No ‘roids and 30 pounds less weight = a much weaker Carwin.

hughbox Says, in 6-13-2011 at 22:22:29 from

Props to Carwin for surviving to the horn.Thought he was done in first round.JDS fights smart to avoid big punch and wrestling of Carwin.

whitesword88 Says, in 6-15-2011 at 05:13:29 from

Mistake on carwins part to trim down and train with jackson. He should have bulked up and trained with quest worked on his wrestling let randy show him how to stand when he had to then take down dosantos and punished him. At the end Jr didn’t like that big bicept around his neck, he should have went that route it was a poor game plan on Carwins part he stood no chance standing.

whitesword88 Says, in 6-15-2011 at 05:22:05 from

Yeah mabe the roid thing ment something I don’t know becouse he was weaker, but if your in with the right people you will pass the test thats what makes Overeem such a theat he always pass’s the tests. You gotta get in with the right people.

AussieMMA Says, in 6-16-2011 at 01:04:59 from

Man, how tough is Carwin! any mortal man would have been dead at the end of that first round. Lucky for Brock, his divicfegulitissesw (whatever) came back at a great time for his MMA career! Otherwise he would be coming back from another lose like Carwin is now.
