jiu jitsu artists have a problem with putting their head down which makes them open for uppercuts and guillotines. I picked this up training in Brazil (sem querer) back in 98…Its a tough patern to break. It was brought to my attention again in Brazil by a BUDO which is like a vale tudo school that I was training…Too gnarly though, they go full out all the time. just a tap wont work, have to yeall too..! I quit after I almost got knocked out by my teacher.!

Never realized how close Werdum was to landing a wide open right just before that uppercut landed. Would have been interesting to see how things would’ve progressed had that shot landed. Coulda woulda shoulda.

Believe it or not this was a huge upset at the time. This was supposed to be a tune up fight for Werdum to a title shot. JDS had other plans lol. If I remember correctly JDS was like a +400 or even bigger underdog in this one.
