This “constant pressure” thing is pretty effective. We saw Chael do it against Silva in their first fight, Fitch do it to Erick Silva, and now Cain just smothering JDS like a wet blanket with punches….i suspect this will be the strategy Bisping uses to get past Vitor Belfort and Anderson Silva…not sure if he has the balls to run forward on an opponent, or the H-Bomb still has him in a state of PTSD….(post-traumatic stress disorder)

Wow…what a fantastic fight!!! Cain took it to Junior but you gotta give JDS some credit…you can’t question that guys HEART!!! Great victory by Cain…he brought it tonite! I want to see it again…REMATCH!!!

As I always said , MMA is a new sport and needs icons. It was too early to say that Dos Santos was the best HW ever.He is talented but he is overerated. His boxing is better than most MMA fighters but remains mediocre with too much holes in his guard.
JDS doesn’t have the heart of a legend and you can train as much as you want , you have it or not.Frazier had it, Ali had it nogueira had it .It is in hard fights that you see the heart of a fighter. And though JDS has heart, he doesn’t belong to this special race of fighter though he is very good
I always said he was not that good .You see the real level of fighters in hard and tough fights
JDS will never be the same fighter after this fight. The beating he took was terrible, he will need to rest
But JDS is a very good fighter no doubt but I knew Velasquez was better

Dan Blankenship Says, in 12-30-2012 at 11:33:47 from

I cannot believe JDS lost. I am at a loss for words.

rashadfan Says, in 12-30-2012 at 11:59:39 from

Give JDS one or two fights to “regroup”. I can’t wait to see Velasquez vs. JDS 3. Tie breaker anyone

Coutura Says, in 12-30-2012 at 12:01:06 from

Fix fight now what number 3 ..you telling me jds had no power no stamina dude just because he took couple of power shot and some takedowns this fight was fix …

psxdogg Says, in 12-30-2012 at 12:09:16 from

I wrote many times on many diff forums that Cain is a maniac and he will destroy JDS, everybody thought I was a fool.

Well LOOK AT JDS NOW BITCH! I’ve watched all Cain fights and I knew he was gon be champ for a long long time!!

rematch? why? this was total domination by Cain.. JDS has heart for sure though and is tough.

Bojan Says, in 12-30-2012 at 13:13:01 from

Guys JDS did not look like him self:( he wasen’t trowing alots of punches! yes I want to see rematch!

lefthooklarry Says, in 12-30-2012 at 13:16:51 from

Stunned – not that Cain won – the manner that he won. Dos Santos Looked gassed, out of character, not landing the big fists on the counter. Cain was sloppy several times and Santos couldn’t land a clean one – great fight for Cain (early rounds). The only time we have seen a champ get totally manhandled was sonnen on silva. Santos looked like Frankenstein – but he did stay in there and still took the shots. The third fight should be a good one too!

rmaleszyKO Says, in 12-30-2012 at 13:33:57 from

JDS has underestimated Cain and we could see a huge Cain determination already in the Silva/Cain fight. It was sad to watch that as I am always rooting for JDS. But it was not JDS fighting this time. It was JDS in a slow motion. Maybe his flight schedule affected his performance a tiny bit. Surely it was not a good strategy for adjusted Cain. And where was JDS black belt jujitsu or grappling?
It will be a lesson for JDS I hope he will come back improved.
The fight was very much like JDS/Carwin fight but opposite.
JDS did not quit but I expected much more from him.
As I said Cain is not my favourite fighter but this time I have to ‘give God what belongs to God’.

dickface Says, in 12-30-2012 at 13:39:00 from

JDS will be back. He’s a warrior. Cain dominated but no KO. Both guys phenominal conditioning for the big guys. Good fight hope to see more between these two. definitely a couple of the best heavyweights in the biz.

frank Says, in 12-30-2012 at 13:47:34 from

In another place most thought the fight was a fix..JDS didn’t even raised his hands. Now someone wants a rematch…look at the score..50-43,,,no way.Santos got clobbered and still didn’t raised his hands..just relied on a few upper cuts.Didn’t even kick Cain once to keep him off balanced.Fix,fix..booooo

themarine03 Says, in 12-30-2012 at 13:48:01 from

Just seems like JDS only has his boxing and nothing else… He may want to work on the M in MMA from now on.

BruceLee Says, in 12-30-2012 at 13:54:13 from

There will be one but I got to tell all the Cain nut huggers that he Cain(t) handle The Reem.

libo Says, in 12-30-2012 at 14:03:45 from

smth happened in that first round that he couldn’t shake off, his power just drained off him, he needs to work on that cardio, i was very impressed with him stuffing the takedowns and cain was not able to hold him down, that will bode well for him in their next fight but he needs to improve his stamina and work on that conditioning, JDS has still what it takes to be a champ, he can take a shot and great grappling, he’s hard to keep on the ground, he just couldn’t live with the pace. having said all that, cain is a machine, so methodical and unrelenting in his attacks, i still think his chin is suspect but for a HW the dude has cardio for days, immense respect to cain.

Dinky Says, in 12-30-2012 at 14:21:19 from

UFC Doctors have confirmed after a post fight check up that JDS is suffering from a severe case of ‘Rampage Jackson syndrome’. Symptons include: Predictable offense, one dimensional fighting and a mass amounts of company over-hype.

Rob Says, in 12-30-2012 at 14:22:17 from

How retarded are you, Coutura, Mamette and kryptonite? I’m an avid Cain fan but have tons of respect for JDS. The man was Hurt by Cain’s bombs and trying to fight off Cain’s weight. Being hurt saps your energy quicker than exhausting yourself from being overactive. JDS and Cain are nothing but heart. I hope Cain wrecks Overeem and JDS comes back better.

hond2dciv Says, in 12-30-2012 at 14:28:55 from

Fixed fight? That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard. Cain was healthy for this one and it showed. JDS is good but he looked a bit out of shape and very few people can hang with a good wrestler for 5 rounds.

mmafan11 Says, in 12-30-2012 at 14:42:43 from

Great fight by both guys.

JDS better learn the defence part of Boxing keeping his hands high especially if he fights Overeem.

Kill em All Says, in 12-30-2012 at 15:06:42 from

I love both guys, hope JDS is ok

lllibbbo Says, in 12-30-2012 at 15:08:47 from

Good fight,
But still it is sad that UFC heavy weight championship lasted 5 rounds and no one got finished.

Championyouk Says, in 12-30-2012 at 15:16:44 from

I admit im biased towards Jds.
However he knocked him the F out the first fight and had cain ate one of those punches coming in again….then these comments would be saying cain was overrated.
Ive never seen a guy keep getting up like that. He’ll be back…whether he can counter that strategy will yet to be seen

TheKungFuLowKick Says, in 12-30-2012 at 15:17:19 from

JDS doesn’t have the heart of legends??I thought he showed alot of heart surviving that beating.I’m pretty sure very HW would’ve abandoned or got Koed in the 1st round.

3starsndasunn Says, in 12-30-2012 at 19:39:40 from

Cain made my year end!! Ive won $2650 (+1.65 odds) I knew the first fight was just a fluke!!Cain will smother him again.. i want overrated overeem against cain!!!

zeroego Says, in 1-2-2013 at 12:30:28 from

he came in with the rocky song, and went out talking like rocky.

Cez617 Says, in 1-2-2013 at 14:22:29 from

Cain is a beast, no doubt about it. JDS was definitely on steroids or something illegal. No way can someone (no matter who) take a beating like he did and still be standing after 25 mins. I hope they test JDS because that was B.S. !! They over hype him and overpay him way too much. He is making top $$ and he is not even well rounded. Screw him. I dislike fighters like this.

Gummy-815 Says, in 1-2-2013 at 18:38:28 from

@Cez617. . . . Roy Nelson should be tested also, for the 5 round beating jds gave him. Obviously a steroid abuser. Lol

TheKungFuLowKick Says, in 1-3-2013 at 11:21:17 from

This fight was nothing compared to Glover Texeira vs Fabio Maldonado. The 1st round was brutal but the rest of the fight was Cain hitting him 50% and pacing himself for a 5 round win.
