Bad match for HUGHES …..

These fight hype videos are getting a little bit silly now. That was so unconvincing.

Now that’s what BJP was talking about.
Was this supposed to be hyped-up?. LOL LOL.

Don’t like him, but gotta respect him. He’s a dangerous dude.
My heart is goin’ with Hughes (not my money though). Love to see him pummel Kos back to the cabbage patch.♠

Corey Says, in 9-17-2011 at 13:17:45 from

I’ve always hated this arrogant little prick. I suspect he’ll win, but I hope hughes takes his head off.

GetSome Says, in 9-17-2011 at 13:29:53 from

UFC is pathetic with the way they promote fights. DREAM did it the right way, at least from what I saw one time. Martial arts is about respect and being your best, not trashy “I hate the other guy” crap. So stupid now.

Watch any martial arts tournament and you will see nothing but respect. I have no idea why Dana White turned this sport into thug mentality losers fighting in it. There are plenty of good guys, but I am so sick of watching trashy losers, full of tattoos with no education, fighting each other. Maybe more should be like Rich Franklin who actually has a legit education instead of being a trashy loser with no options after fighting.

The fans are some of the biggest low-life losers as well. Just look at any MMA message board and you will see some of the biggest idiots ever assembled in one place. I will likely not be interested in this sport in a couple years, as it is now a clown show with fake marketing and average fighters. If there was real money at stake, I guarantee you more of the best would participate. I know plenty who pass on this crap because it is a joke and the money is weak compared to boxing.

Original UFC was more realistic than this stuff. Royce Gracie submitting via triangle after getting his face kicked in for 15 minutes is more exciting and more like real life. This has become pro wrestling, with the lay and pray morons running it. Change the rules and the real martial artists will thrive again, as is the case with Anderson Silva. That guy is an artist in every sense of the word.

I’ve always hated these things. And yes they’ve always been this bad.

Newfie Jiujitsu Says, in 9-17-2011 at 14:01:28 from

well put GetSome!! completely agree!

PitfighterZ Says, in 9-17-2011 at 14:20:40 from

@GetSome: I know this is a rare moment, but I actually agree with you in almost everything you just wrote.
The UFC/WWE model is aimed at the pro-wrestling uneducated crowd and not at the students of martial arts or even people who like fighting as something more than pure entertainment.
In Asia, they know that the larger amount of fans they get are martial artists and real athletes. Bellator also follows that philosophy as did WEC before Zuffa and they put the best shows ever. Trash talk is for trash people who can’t understand the sacrifices and pains of a career in fighting. If that’s what people want, they should go watch WWE or other “pro”-wrestling b.s. and bad fighting movies.
Unfortunately, it is the uneducated masses that pay for the PPVs, and Zuffa is all about the money. Some people think that it is good for the sport to become “mainstream,” but I can see the good and the bad. I still like local vale-tudo tournaments and the action in the gyms, even amateur circles, as long as you have two guys/women who know their sh*t. It’s more fun to watch the new talents developing than the UFC’s b.s. I watch the fights only and most often, without comments. Everything else is just “lights and clockwork.”

Fox Network style promotion…LOL! It’s weird though…I’m completely bored with guys who have to HATE the other guy to fight him, but I’m also not too impressed with the faux “I’m gonna kick his ass” speeches…Guys like GSP don’t really bother with this type of stuff because they are so good they don’t have to…I think-IF Kos wasn’t completely mentally shattered by his GSP loss that this can be a good fight…

bodylock Says, in 9-17-2011 at 15:00:48 from

The guy is a competitor. What do you want him to say? ” I’m gonna go out and do my darndest, and we’ll see what happens?” Theres a reason he has gotten to where he is. It seems that the ufc is never going to be able to please some of you. Agreed that there need to be more fighters like Rich Franklin, he’s a professional through and through.

Mexguit Says, in 9-17-2011 at 15:12:17 from

I agree getsome…you are very wise!

Beast w/ 8 Limbs Says, in 9-17-2011 at 15:21:32 from

@ PitfighterZ I remember Pride, and much of the way Dream is now, they protected many of their Japanese fighters, fixed many a fight, and put on some damn strange side show David v. Goliath fights that only served as fodder for the casual fan in Japan. If you knew Japanese culture, you’d know that there is more interest in pro wrestling in Japan than there will ever be for MMA. I agree with most of what you said, except for your comment on Asian MMA. If it were true, MMA would not be in the deplorable state it is now in Asia.

ash Says, in 9-17-2011 at 15:23:47 from

lol, you think dream did it right, but now they’re on the verge of bankruptcy.

don’t compare ufc to martial arts tournament. those tourneys doesnt make any money, doesnt have tv shows, and pay per view events. they’re completely different animal

don’t just sit there at home saying their marketing sucks, when you know NOTHING about marketing.

pinkelephantsmarching Says, in 9-17-2011 at 15:30:59 from

WOW! I am shocked that somebody actually wrote something that I can respond to for once. I have been on this site for a long time, but have only commented once because I don’t waste my time with primitive thinkers. Primitive being the “nicest” adjective I can use without being a narcissistic “know it all.”

Much like Will Ferrel in the movie Old School, Getsome, came out of left field with the best rebuttal ever! In regards to another poorly scripted promo by the UFC which spoke for itself.

I feel the same exact way about the subject at hand, I just hope more of the “students” step up and support the sport rather than the “neanderthals.”

PitfighterZ Says, in 9-17-2011 at 20:13:57 from

@Beast: That’s why I didn’t mention them by name. I was referring only to the respect among fighter in their promos. I chose Bellator and WEC as better examples because, as far as I know, there is/was no fixing in those orgs.
I hope One FC, coming out of Singapore will incorporate the best of 2 worlds.

KungFuLowKick Says, in 9-17-2011 at 21:26:28 from

If you really beleive that kind of promoting is necesary then you should keep watching WWE.My favorite fight build-up in the UFC was Shields and GSP because they are 2 respectfull martial artists. And to what I remember the fight sold as well as the trash talking fights.

Koscheck is easy to NOT like for some reason but he’s going to overwhelm old Matt bad.
This won’t look pretty in Matt’s scrap book.
Glory days are over.

You know…has it occurred to anyone else that Kos is not saying a bunch of crazy s***? It’s just occurring to me that after he took it too far with GSP…maybe he learned something…
