good for cormier, he seems like a great guy, and its nice to see a guy like him dismantle a douch bag like barnett. cormier has probably improved more in a very short time frame than any other fighter in recent memory, with the possible exception of jon jones.

How is two heavyweights going 5 strong rounds boring. I prefer this battle of a 2 minute knockout. Everyone loves a knockout, but now we know Barnett and Cormier have distance in their games. We knew Josh could go, but Cormier brought it.

Hey Bruno, I made 2k on cormier, but unfortunately I got it at -105 a couple hours before fight time instead of when the line opened at +140. Damn, I gotta get better at predicting line movement. Did you make any money on it?
Bruno: Not that fight. I was pulling for Josh but I though DC would win. I only bet Gilbert Melendez vs. Josh Thomson would go the distance. Made around $1200
That was my only bet.

Cormier was impressive. I do think Barnett breaking his hand in the first round had a huge impact on the fight.

Good fight but Cormier pulled some BS in the last round by taking it easy and coasting his way to a win. If you can beat the hell out of a guy for four rounds then you can beat the hell out of him for five. Otherwise a very impressive showing.

Pfft Fab, Cormier had it in the bag. Had he gone all out in the fifth he had everything to lose. He beat the crap out of Barnett for four rounds and if he couldn’t finish him in 20 minutes a smart fighter would know not to force it in the fifth with victory and the belt a certainty. Much easier being an armchair fighter. Nothing to lose.

I was very excited for this fight and it did not disappoint. I felt that Barnett should have had the edge due to his vast experience and proven toughness, but Cormier had all the makings of being a very talented fighter that just might pull off the upset and he did, perfoming stellarly and despite having the disadvantage in height and reach…he showed just how talented he is. I am sure Dana is excited about Cormier being the victor, rather than Barnett, and I fully expect DC’s next fight to be in the UFC…as a fan, this is awesome!!

I disagree if a fighter “breaks his hand” and continues to fight. From a fans point of view it either sounds like a cop out, or it stands to take away from the victory of the opponent, in this case DC. It would be better for both fighter and fan, if you really break your hand..to stop the fight, have a doctor confirm the broken hand,give the victory to the other guy, and set up a legitimate re-match, otherwise it just sounds like a cop-out…bad on you Barnett, if you are going to decide to keep fighting, then dont cry about a broken hand after you get your ass kicked.

cormier basically just garaunteed himself a job in the ufc. not because he won, but because he won against barnett,and in convincing fashion. the ufc gods will look upon him favorably because of this.

This was boring. 5 round fights are great when the smaller guys do it, they hold a higher pace and throw a million times more strikes. When heavyweights go 5 rounds the fights are always pretty do-nothing. Even my favorite 5 round HW fight was boring, Couture vs Sylvia.

@ Robert I said nothing about going all out. He didn’t need to do that but he stopped fighting completely. He pinned Barnett to the cage and ran for the last few minutes. At no point was Barnett a real threat. You’re in the cage to fight from bell to bell. It’s your job as a fighter. No excuse. You don’t really think this will fly in the UFC do you?
