It’s a shame that Aldo didn’t have the confidence in his own brain to take the fight to Florian. Every time he attacked, it was evident he was much more powerful and efficient than Florian.
Florian can be a master technician, but he is just a skinny kid. He needs to put on some serious muscle mass, work on his speed, his power, and learn to wrestle even better if he wants a belt. It might be too much for him at this stage in his career. He is always dangerous, but you need to be physically inhuman to be at the top level in 145 and 155.

We couldn’t see the 2nd and 3rd rounds, but it looked like Kenny held him own or better in the 1st, 4th and 5th. Jose is the champion, and Kenny may not have done enough to get the edge.

If u listen to joe rogan and mike goldberg comment the whole fight, they are both riding kennys nuts. Never did they mention any punches aldo landed. All they kept saying is “Florian is putting on the pressure”. Even at the end of the fight. Florian had no chance coming in, hes way to skinny. Mark hominick had a waaay better chance. I was actually nervous on tje last round witj hominicks fight for aldo. Oh yea, for those stupid people that say Joe Sey Aldo. Its pronounced Hoe Zey. Its not that hard to pronounce it. Man Kenny is a legend, even though this fight was lackluster. He’s not meant to fight at this weight, man he looks skinny and flat. It may not be a realistic idea but I would rather see Florian put on muscle weight and a lot of it, get up to 180 and cut and fight at 170. Much respect to Kenny Florian guy has a relentless work ethic, 4 weight classes wow!

if fighting was purely an intellectual endeavour, k-flo might have had a chance, but athleticism is needed, and he was outmatched…i hope jose aldo isn’t turning into a gsp (where you fight totally smart and only take something when an opponent gives it to you instead of forcing it to happen)…i want to see the BEAST aldo return….he’s going to have his hands full against Chad Mendes….

Is Joe Rogan Florian’s bf or something? Joe’s commentary was “Florian this, Florian that” the WHOLE fight. I think he mentioned Aldo maybe four times. Joe sounded like he was about to cry at the end of the last round when he knew Florian was going to lose. Someone should let Joe know that he is allowed to commentate on BOTH fighters instead of being fixated on just one fighter throughout the whole fight. Extremely biased commentating by Rogan on this fight. Rogan either has a mancrush on Florian or he’s practicing to work at FOXNews.

@datniglet: I think Mendes is an awesome fighter, but Aldo will be more relaxed against him. Aldo has an inferiority complex against more intelligent fighters like Florian and Homminick. He could have easily destroyed both of them if he let it go. I think it’s his lack of formal education that causes him to refrain.
You put any tough skilled fighter with a less cerebral approach in front of him and he will just demolish the poor bastard.

Athleticism is nice in these fights, but even a guy like Melvin Guillard can’t rely on it. Kenny is able to fight at 35, despite his lack of athleticism, because he is such a smart fighter. Aldo probably won’t be around at that age, because his only tool will have faded.

It’s amazing how Kenny is always at the top of the heap even though he’s so physically underwhelming. Just goes to show that technique alone can carry you really far, but to be champion you need technique and be physically gifted.

I thougt Aldo just barely won that fight. Kenny is awesome…always 2nd best though. Florian is a great great fighter, just not a champion. He he’s a great announcer though.
Aldo needed to KO Florian if he devserves best PFP fighter..after the last 2 fights I do not think he deserves that claim.

Reason: He’s weight training and still adjusting to muscle growth…
Also, he’s definitely holding back on his attacks…so when he starts being super aggressive again, people will be like “WOW” again…
