War Machine isn’t overrated - he’s been a joke from Day 1, anyone who follows MMA or saw him on TUF knows it. He’s so wrapped up in himself (see his breakdown near the end of the TUF season for reference) that he can’t ever get his head in the game.

He’s like one of the guys on pickup roller hockey night who thinks he can compete in the NHL. He may look the part and know how to go through the motions to look like a pro, but he’s an amateur and especially in War Machine’s case, a kid who hasn’t gotten around to growing a pair yet.

war machine is not a bad fighter but yoshida had him figured out and knew he was gonna wrestle with him. that move is not a real anaconda by the way but it is effective as hell if you got the right timing. it would be interesting to see how yoshida would do against a better grappler like sanchez or koscheck.

Yoshida put in 10c and pulled out an anaconda. LOL! Candymachine gets hit once and panics, gets hit again (i can see tears in his eyes now) then taken down then choked out. Too easy for Yoshida. I don’t think we’ll see much more of Jon and I don’t think anyone cares.

If you look at the video closely at 7:30, you can see that War Machine’s eyes are OPEN!! That’s only the second time I’ve seen a guy unconscious with his eyes open: the first was Baroni getting choked unconscious by Frank Shamrock.

when i first watched this, i thought, “oh, war machine! what a joke!” but watching it again, he form wasn’t bad, his decision to escape the side mount in the way he did wasn’t bad, but yoshida was super attentive and sunk that guillotine in tight as soon as he tried to stand.

i will say this though, war just doesn’t seem to have that fighter spirit. but it’s hard to see how much he’s improved from watching this fight.
