Personally, not too excited to see this match-up compared to the fight with Rashad. I would rather see Jones vs Dan Henderson or something like that. Its unfortunate there are not a lot of contenders for the title right now Forrest, Rampage, and Rua obviously don’t make sense. Is the scared and tentative Machida who lost to Shogun and Rampage going to show up? Probably. I don’t see him coming out striking like against Couture although hopefully he does. It seems when Machida gets in the ring with a real threat who loses confidence and isn’t willing to take risks. What do you guys think?

I wanted to see Jones beat Rashad up. But the Machida fight is more interesting.
If Jones wins, and Shogun wins against Henderson. A rematch would be interesting considering that Rampage exposed Jones weakness in leg kicks, Shogun could potentially win, with a leg kick game plan.

Can the Karate Kid do it? I think he learned alot from his fights with Shogun and Rampage and right now is one of the few fighters who have a chance at beating JBJ. Machida looked bigger and faster against Couture so I see him as a real threat considering he is using alot of technique combined with speed and strength. JBJ is a beast but he hasn’t fought someone who will not stay in front of him and that will be using angles and advance striking/tripping techniques.

If what he is saying is true, and I believe it is, I have to retract my comment about the ufc making the Machida match-up being BS. I love the drama queens on here that only watch these fights for the “beef”. Point blank, 90% of these guys are cocky ass bastards including Rashad, who is every bit as “fake” or “wishy washy” as Jones, Rampage and the rest of them. Many people think I’m crazy for saying this, but i think Machidas ability to leap in and out and close that distance/reach that Jones has might be the clincher and he might just punch Jones hard enough in the mouth to win. I say that if Machida comes in as an underdog in this fight betting wise (which he will, the question is by how much) the smart bet is on Machida. Im thinking of laying down a little cash on the piss sipper myself – if the odds are right.
