The only only reason this guy looks “good” is because hes fighting guys who for the most part are one or really, TWO divisions below him, the only real gift he has is being as big as he is and weighting so little.
Put him in with someone his own size and what how normal he looks. Because who he fights offers no real threat to him, normally hes able to feel confident to throw anything and often does. I dout he will be able to fight at that division that much longer.

I don’t know how this was so boring. As much as I don’t believe it, it really looks like Jones was holding back. Rashad, who is insanely fast, looked just average. This was very disappointing for me.

Rashad fought like a home grown bitch in this fight. Never went for broke,never laid it all on the line. Jones went the five rounds for the first time and looked like the fresher of the two fighters. Jones has walked through the top of the LHW divition. Is ther even anyone else? Maybe he should go to heavyweight. Damn!!

Jones is maybe the smartest fighter with the best instincts. Say what you want about him, he is obviously extremely dedicated and the best in the world, always improving and he is only scratching the surface of what he will be able to do

You need a JBJ to beat JBJ. The kid is just a smart fighter fighting not very smart people. You need a 205er with the mind of a 155er to get in there and mix it up.
Not the best fight for Rashad, but he seemed to have left his emotions take the best of him.
Rashad never really listened to his corner.
Jones advantage lies on his ability to stay put within his range and out of the other fighter’s range. You have to force him to walk back to take that advantage from him while attacking those legs and throwing elbows. Every time in his career someone did that, Jones looked confused and got tagged. JVJ does not have the legwork of A. Silva to back up in angles and dancing around his opponents. He just stumbles back.
Anyway, the kid is a champion and I don’t see anyone being smart enough to try something different against him, although Gustaffson might be the best option now.

I invision the exact same outcome against his next opponent, Hendo. Jones did say in the post-fight presser though, that the leg kicks hurt him pretty bad. That’s the trick, and a hell of a trick at that, because getting to those legs is not f’ing easy. His reach is incredible. And he uses it better than any fighter ever, boxing or otherwise. I can see a good tall kick boxer getting Jones legs. Gustaffson, comes to mind right away, but Jones would wrestle.

Well at least rashad went the distance. I don’t think anderson silva could beat jones. Maybe a younger anderson silva but now he wouldn’t have the stamina for a 23 year old. Plus jones is a wreastler which is trouble for him.
As much as i love dan henderson i think the fight will go similar to rampages fight.
The kids good, plus he has a 12 foot reach.

Does anyone else think that Bones let ‘Shad off the hook a couple of times? I thought Bones owned Evans the entire fight, but he rocked him and did not pounce, let him out of the guillotine too fast I thought, rocked him again and let him recover. I was like damn, finish him already. I think that Jones really still likes ‘Shad and didn’t want to hurt him any more after hurting his feelings. Bones is no killer, despite his past finishes. I’m a fan of his and like him, but I wish he would have destroyed Evans to make a statement, not that he needs to do so anymore. He will wreck Hendo though.

He’ll probably go up to heavyweight in a few years. But for the forseeable future mr. jones will be the champion. Perhaps they should let machida and rashad fight jones at the same time. They might have a chance then.

Yes, Jon Jones is tall and has a freakish wingspan, but it’s ridiculous to say that the only reason he is doing so well is because of that. I am 6′ tall but I don’t think that means I could dominate Joseph Benavidez like Jon Jones has dominated people.
Also, he is making weight every fight, so he belongs in that division. It does not make him a lesser fighter that he walks around much heavier. If the other fighters feel undersized, they are welcome to go down a weight division. Btw I don’t like Jon’s personality, but one cannot deny that he is extremely talented. He has finished Shogun, Lyoto, and Rampage in the last year.

@Eriki wants us to put Jones in with someone his own size. If you read the post, you see he means “his own length”. Which I guess is either height or reach or both.
Now that would be nove. We do away with weight classes and have height reach classes. I can see the matchups now.

Gustaffson next would be a good one, but it’s generally true about the bigger guys who can cut weight. The ones who dominate divisions are generally naturally a weight class higher with size… the one that comes to mind that is the opposite though is Edgar.

Gustaffson is not the solution for this problem because he lacks on wrestling. Jones should prove himself the best of all times in the heavyweight division. He as a HW frame. Fedor is much smaller and fights at HW you coward. JJones is a coward. I don’t see any honour. I see JBJ moving to HW any being just another guy in the mix. WHY? Because he will not have is best weapon, the size diference.

I think Hendo is a great challenge for Jones. You can’t hurt Hendo, and he throws the heaviest hands of all 185, 205 and most 205+ fighters. I think Hendo would take him down and beat on him. Remember, Machida got inside on Jones and rocked him numerous times. Machida doesn’t hit as hard as Hendo.

jones have one of te best take downs defenses, i think hendo cant do that, and yes, Machida doesn’t hit as hard as Hendo, but Machida is a faster fighter with nice counter attacks, thats why he gets inside…
i think jones will beat hendo, and then will beat Gustafason.

i would not count out gustafason he is just as tall as jones with a comparable reach AND HE GETS BETTER WITH EVERY FIGHT … jones will have a hard time with him … he also has great striking i think more solid than bones
