That was a really good performance by Bones Jones, but I think this will actually cause more people to dislike him. I have a real problem with the way he just dropped Lyoto to the ground when he knew he was out. I don’t think there is any reason to show that kind of disrespect to your opponent. If he wonders why there are large amounts of people booing him at the next weigh-in (just like this one), that should tell the story.

This is why weigh ins need to be at the day of the fight. It will force people to stay at their natural weight class or make a cut that won’t benefit them as much. Yes, people will move up a class, but many will do much better and won’t give up too much size. WTF is 230 fighting at 205 or a 165 fighting at 145, etc. That’s not even true weights. Jon is good, but he seems to only throw 1 punch unless he hurts the guy, he uses his size well and that’s all I really see of him. I enjoy him smashing guys, but after he beats Rashad, I hope he moved up to HW, smash a few guys and win me as a fan. I feel the same way about Anderson Silva, wish he would drop 185 and move to 205.

Machida gave Jones a run for the money in the first, which was exciting, but Bones is everything some of us thought he was going to be a couple of years ago.
Rashad’s best bet is to rush in right in the very beginning when Jones is doing his little catwalk and put him on his back or even KO him.
I thought Machida should have kicked his arm off at that point. Just because you can’t kick the head, it doesn’t mean you can’t touch the guy at all. And a kick to the head at that moment, even if came with a disqualification, would teach Bones not to do that anymore.
I like Jones, but I think the only challenge he will have is against someone as strong and as fast as him.

I think Jones is as respectful as his opponents let him be. Rampage/Rashad want to talk smack and Jones plays along. Also you gotta know they’re pushed to hype these rivalries by the UFC.
There was nothing but respect for Machida because he didn’t put out any garbage. I honestly don’t think Jones meant to drop Machida to the ground after he choked him out. But I DON’T KNOW what his intentions were any more than the Haters who DO KNOW he purposely did it.

Jones isn’t going to Heavyweight anytime soon. Rest assured he’ll smash through all contenders and clean out the division. Jones had the best year of any MMA fighter, he’s the first to hold the title and successfully defend it more than once since Lidell, AND he’s taken out Hua, Rampage, and Machida to do it. Jones is not that experienced. That said, I mean he does not have a long resume list of sleeping victims on their feet. In his excitement to win, he released Machida and the knucklehead who would not tap fell to the ground in a heap of stubbornness (1/2 Japanese helps explain). everyone loses eventually. Lyoto showed that great timing and countering is effective against Bones. Bones executed well, take-down, elbow, the ensuing cut, the bleeding blinding Lyoto’s right eye, he doesn’t see that left hook, gets dropped, tries to get up and Bones sinks in a nice standing guillotine. Kinda shitty the way he disregarded his safety after officially winning the fight and just let him flop like a ragdoll. Good fight though. Everyone riding the bandwagon like Bones can’t be defeated is f****** retarded. Everyone loses eventually. Machida is no chump, Bones is no demigod. I would pay for a rematch and still be satisfied with Lyoto losing, as long as it’s competitive like this match.

@mangjose….if Sonnen moved to 205 Jones would find himself in deep waters. Sonnen is the one guy in the UFC with the willpower to bring it to Jones anyone that he faces. Sonnen will certainly take him down and we would then find out what Mr. Jones is really all about. Jones is my favorited fighter these days…this is the fight that I’d like to see.

i saw nothing wrong with dropping Machida. and calling Jones a paper champion only exposes you for knowing nothing. Shogun tapped from strikes for Jones to become champ.
