think jj used his reach to win that fight?…. haters.

T’Challa Says, in 4-28-2013 at 01:43:50 from

Sonnen: 0-4 for his career in title fights.

Jones completely annihilated him at his own game.. fkn sweet.

I honestly don’t know how Chael’s fans keep supporting him when he loses every single big fight in his career. It’s over for that fool.. Bring on Jones vs Silva!

hond2dciv Says, in 4-28-2013 at 01:50:07 from

20 seconds on the round and they couldn’t let it go to round 2? Lame! Where was Herb Dean?

If the stoppage wasn’t so damn early, Chael would be the new champ. Think about it: Jones walks back to his corner, Greg Jackson spots that nearly ripped off toe, they have to call the fight. Period. End of story.

Brock Lesnar was getting the tar beat out of him by Carwin WAY worse than that and they let the fight go to round 2. The main event hardly ever gets called this early with so much on the line. Lame, lame early stoppage by a no-name ref.

Yelajackit Says, in 4-28-2013 at 01:57:17 from

He used size reach and strenght in this. A far bigger fighter.

vic77 Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:02:46 from

Chael looks weak…punches had nothing on them. He hit Jones in back of head many times.

boonching Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:20:54 from

apparantly jon jones broke his toe by removing his foot from sonnens ass

chicken legs, lions heart Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:25:41 from

Jones was obviously the better fighter tonight but he DID get seriously lucky that the fight didn’t go to a second round with that broken toe. Don’t think the toe itself would have stopped him (Jackson might have seen it and taped it up between rounds)but who knows what the ref might have done had he seen it.

snype6969 Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:26:12 from

if ur not intelligently defending ur self the fight will get stopped. if u watch the ending chael just laid there getting the s*** beat of of him. elbows, knees to the body, then precision punches to the face. good stoppage, just because he wasnt ktfo. doesnt mean it was a bad stoppage.

paddedummy Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:29:08 from

How did that injury even happen, if there really was a hole in the mat I see Jones making more from a lawsuit than from the fight. Even worse than when the ref broke up the clinch between Nelson and Kongo

c hill Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:31:06 from

I promise I have not viewed the fight and don’t know the result. I also promis I have not looked at any previous comments. I paused the video before the beginning of round one.

for fun: I am going to guess that chael never takes him down. I’m also going to guess chael never really gets a clean shot in and that this is pretty much utter destruction jones destroying him.

I kind of hope I’m wrong.

If I’m wrong I’ll follow up with another comment .

k1superstar Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:33:08 from

Chael would of won that fight for sure! he could of pushed through it another 20 seconds no worries, and jones would of been out with that toe. My god he would of had that title even if by tko coz of the injury.. just slipped out of his grasp.

glassjoe Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:36:16 from

Great Post! Thanks Bruno!! Good s*** as always!!!!!

jonnyx Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:37:02 from

yeah chicago…reach had nothing at all do with that fight…..[/sarcasm]

reach will obviously always effect a fight, no matter if it stays on the ground etc…the benefits are just more pronounced when the fight remains standing.

but chael looked like crap, he was doing a decent job of protecting himself on the bottom until the end. But he also very much looked like a weight class below JJ. and yeah 20 secs to go and they call the fight?…man.

kidfrosty Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:39:23 from

That was some serious crow that Chael was eating during the interview. Good for Bones…he looks unstoppable!

c hill Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:44:48 from

well my follow up comment.

chael never took him down.. and it was destruction round one.. but chael did do some form of damage even if indirectly or it did occur.

so i’d say on one account I was wrong. thanx for posting. ;)

Gettin_Flamed Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:53:47 from

Jones vs. Silva will sell ppv’s no doubt, and I would pay for it. But honestly, I don’t see how Jones doesn’t win that fight. Chael was able to keep Silva on his back for a significant time, and Jones is that much bigger, that much stronger, and his GnP is that much more deadly. There are weight classes for a reason, super-fights are nothing more than a gimmick. I would be cheering for Silva to prove me wrong.

MikeInSugarland Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:54:20 from

@hond2dciv, huh didn’t you watch the fight ???

If ref didn’t stopped, a few more of those elbows in the last 20 secs of the round, and Chael would be in the hospital.

Jones dominated that fight – you can tell within 3 minutes that it would be over soon – 1st or 2nd rounds doesn’t matter.

Jones is a beast and I don’t think even Silva want a piece of him (and I’m a Silva fan ..)

fagghit Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:57:41 from

you don’t know how chaels fans keep suporting him? youre a dumb nigg, yea jones is better fighter but that was an early stop, chael is jokes and jones is a down to earth p****

muppetoflove Says, in 4-28-2013 at 02:57:51 from

if you had brain damage and a suckign chest wound greg jackson wouldnt call off the fight he doesnt give a s*** about his fighters.

that toe Says, in 4-28-2013 at 03:55:08 from

wow! pretty much how i figured it would go, but damn his toe was f***** up!!!!! that was sick!

mmafan400 Says, in 4-28-2013 at 04:19:50 from

For god f****** sake joe, leave him alone, his toe is broken!

mmafan400 Says, in 4-28-2013 at 04:22:11 from

And how the hell do you decide the stoppage was real. Even chael had no problem with it, john was just going to keep beating the crap out of him and probably would have ended it that round anyway, and in either case why would you ever want chael to win by something stupid like a broken toe?

darby Says, in 4-28-2013 at 04:46:18 from

it may have been an early stoppage but really for 20 more seconds he would have been f***** up more and might have started round 2 but he would have been busted up more.

Actually Jon Jones would have had a very hard time entering round 2 regardless of Greg.
I didn’t think Chael was doing that bad until I think an elbow got through towards the very end.
I was wondering why such an abrupt halt.
Maybe it is Chael’s attitude, not his skills that people like, not his mouth. He’s turning into a Rocky Balboa, before Balboa started winning.

kbrew007 Says, in 4-28-2013 at 06:53:50 from

Sean Wooldridge Says, in 4-28-2013 at 07:28:53 from

Notice Jones didn’t give up any 10-8 rounds. If you think Jones wouldn’t eat Anderson Silva alive, you’re out of your mind.

Bruno: Did Not. Should be there.

Jones dislocated the toe when he was talking to Rogan when he was doing the spinning back fist. Not during the round.

hond2dciv: Well said.

JJ won, but yes, they should have let it go a little longer as it was a title fight. The bell would have saved him and would be a different story the next round. Just wasn’t meant for Chael. Give him credit for talking his way into big fights and big pay days. The dude is smart and shows class after the fights. Didn’t make excuses.

tiggernits Says, in 4-28-2013 at 08:32:46 from

you could see from the walkout alone that JJ was really dialed-in and ready to go while Kale seemed tepid and hesitant….you could see Chris Weidman in the background studying him for a future match-up after he easily beats Anderson Silva…Weidman trying to beat all the “unbeatables”….who knows, maybe he beats both champions by sub and goes down in history as the best eva?

facepunch77 Says, in 4-28-2013 at 08:38:15 from

hond2dciv – my thoughts exactly – brock lesnar got beat in the face for an entire straight round. I think the difference here was the elbows, but it could have gone for at least another 45 seconds.. which would have ended the round. I’m not sure when Jon Jones broke his toe though..

longpipe Says, in 4-28-2013 at 09:16:57 from

who the hell thought chael had a shot ? this fight went just how we expected!!!

Jens Pulver Says, in 4-28-2013 at 09:27:54 from

Chael should just hang them up and retire.

vic77 Says, in 4-28-2013 at 10:05:58 from

KungFuLowKick Says, in 4-28-2013 at 11:20:04 from

That p**** ref sucks.Tiny little p****-man.Earlier he didn’t saw an eye poke, then he stops the fight after 4 shots.I’m sure he placed himself in Sonnen’s skin and thought:”If I was him,I would quit right now” and he stopped the fight.I think alot of early stoppages happen because of that.A ref has to give the benefit of the doubt, especially in a title fight.

T’Challa Says, in 4-28-2013 at 11:27:51 from

@fagghit, lol your racist comment kinda proves what I’ve thought about a lot of Sonnen fans..it’s not really about him as a person, you just want a White dude to win the belt, you silly bitch. You’re right about one thing, Chael is a JOKE. Seeing him on his back trying to pull guard, looking like a turtle flipped on it’s shell was funny as hell!

Thunderbaymma Says, in 4-28-2013 at 11:48:12 from

chael p…..what u dont have a chael p looser speech. uh sorry the better man won ya well no s*** dumbass. where was ur charecter? your not soposed to admit defeat. plez spare us from your promos again.. and just work for the ufc tool

dragoman Says, in 4-28-2013 at 12:42:15 from

watched it twice – stoppage seemed very premature. Jones probably would have won regardless, but hate to see a fight stopped early after all the months of work these guys put in. Need to get some better refs. Herb dean should just do all the fights

ML Says, in 4-28-2013 at 13:46:10 from

Early, yes … but the fight would have ended anyway. 20 more seconds and the ref would have been forced to act. Chael was not getting out of that position and would have absorbed so much more punishment. Jones’ GnP was not like Carwin’s assault on Brock; Jones’s strikes were much more accurate. Just look at Chael’s face afterwards. So early, but none the less inevitable.

JJ Says, in 4-28-2013 at 13:55:32 from

So perhaps now even the most ignorent fans can realize the fact that Sonnen never will be more than a contradicting wrestler who at best is an midiocre fighter?

BHDchris Says, in 4-28-2013 at 14:15:35 from

At this point, chael has two choices: retire OR drop weight one more time, fight GSP, then retire either win or lose… Retire champion or retire the man that fought the 3 greatest fighters in the world…

shocktime Says, in 4-28-2013 at 16:55:00 from

@BHDchris. LOL I hate to admit, but I’m interested in that fight. Chael Vs GSP. All Chael has to do is talk enough trash and he will get a automatic title shot. Ridiculous I know, but I bet dana would make it happen.

Danby Says, in 4-28-2013 at 17:27:33 from

I like how people are resting chaels hopes of winning the title on the fact that jones injured himself and not that chael actually had a chance LOL!!!

brngray Says, in 4-28-2013 at 18:10:55 from

chael needs to retire hes a commentator not a fighter

Danby Says, in 4-28-2013 at 18:41:38 from

@BHDchris You forgot the third choice. Get beat on for a few minutes and make TONS of money. Why would he retire? I’d step in the octagon with jones if i was gonna make a million or so dollars. I’ll take the few minutes of beating if it means i’ll make my wage for the next 25 years in those few minutes.

boonching Says, in 4-28-2013 at 21:07:09 from

@ shocktime – so true.

that would be a good fight but isnt gsp talking about going to 155 or something?

arod83 Says, in 4-29-2013 at 10:12:34 from

if he can make it to the title again he should get a shot Faber keeps getting shots why not chael i think chael would have won if not for the early stoppage other fights have gone longer with bigger shots like lesnar and carwin fight, but chael would have won because of the broken town not cause he was better then got destroyed even worse inthe rematch by jon

FailSonnen Says, in 4-29-2013 at 18:15:13 from

I never even seen that ref before….why use him for a main event title fight?

And people making excuses for the stoppage….how come Henderson vs Shogun wasn’t stopped then? That went on far longer and at times when both sides weren’t defending properly…

The reffing is inconsistent in this sport. Just admit it.

NotVinnieJones Says, in 4-29-2013 at 19:03:24 from

LOL I can’t believe that some people are so hard up for Sonnen to win that they would accept a technical decision for the broken toe. Who are these losers that think like that? Whoever is holding the belt, I want them to hold the belt because of their fighting skill, not because they can get lucky by having an opponent hurt themselves into a technical decision.
These losers wanted the ref to let it go until the end of the round. Really? Another 20 seconds of that and Chael would have either been unconscious, had facial fractures, or both. Chael himself agreed on the stoppage so I’m guessing if you told him that you wished that the ref would have let the face-bashing continue until the end of the round, Chael would probably tell you to go f**k yourself.

eman Says, in 4-30-2013 at 06:12:10 from

Silva vs Sonnen, Silva got broken rib. Sonnen “dominate” the game, but didnt do much damage, and still, silva wins. Silva wins again, with really good domination! and what… sonnen gets another titleshot.. f*kin unbelivable. well, now we all knows whos danas favorite boy in the game. and whos really a champs. Jones did a good job and has good game plan.
