i scored it 49-46 diaz. condit ran the whole fight and tried to score with jabs and leg kicks. boxing judges scored it like a boxing fight. where u get all the praise by running and jabbing and all that bs. yeah thats u mayweather. i love condit and have followed him for years but sorry he lost that. ive watched mma since 1993 and have trained and fought in the sport for years. i know what the F*** im talkin about and condit won the 4th round only!!! period!!!

Oswald Cobblepot Says, in 2-8-2012 at 13:45:01 from

Rogan has great stances on fights but he is way off on this one. If not for Diaz crying after the fight no one jumps on the whinning bandwagon. All of the folks that think Diaz one did not feel that way until he spoke. That is why sportsmanship and professionalism is critical in sports. If the figureheads are classless like Diaz it rales up all of the lowlife trash. Condit won! the name of the game is hit and do not get hit. Diaz got hit, Condit did not. Bottom line Diaz had no plan be for somone that did not want to fight with their back on the cage. I now hope there is a rematch so Condit can whoop Diaz again, especially now that he know Diaz has NO POWER in his slaps.

jdogg Says, in 2-8-2012 at 14:03:50 from

Wow. Joe made some great points here. But after watching it i still think Condit won. Diaz definitely controlled the octagon but Condit landed more kicks and punches. Escaping Diaz sub attempt at the end of rd 5 and landing those hammer punches only put an exclamation point on the victory.

I have to disagree with Mr Rogan too, Diaz did well but I don’t think he got the better Condit not by a long shot.

cigronne Says, in 2-8-2012 at 14:08:54 from

@Oswald I agree with you man what people are yet unable to swallow is the fact that the famous “GSP vs Diaz” fight might not ever happen. Sure Diaz controled the octagon, but Carlos controled Diaz and the fight.

blzd Says, in 2-8-2012 at 14:26:35 from

he only chose diaz over condit cuz he is friends with the diaz brother he doesnt want them to bash him about it like last time he took mayhems side when the whole brawl broke out in the cage he is just trying to save face not hating on rogan by any means

mk Says, in 2-8-2012 at 14:27:30 from

I agree with Oswald completely. For all those who don’t like how Condit won the fight, answer this…If Condit stood these and banged with Diaz, would you have praised Condit for that? Or would you have thought “Why would Condit just stand there and bang with Diaz?” Condit fought a smart fight and did his homework. He didn’t run, he got out of the way of punches! There is a difference.

Danby Says, in 2-8-2012 at 14:28:02 from

Why the F*** would condit have to fight diaz AGAIN to fight gsp. What happens if this happens a second time? Will he have to fight diaz a third time. Will they just keep fighting each other until diaz finally wins so dana can justify a diaz, gsp match?!

Just let diaz fight gsp then instead of wasting their time. Then condit can fight diaz who will then be the champ.

Beast w/ 8 Limbs Says, in 2-8-2012 at 14:33:21 from

Condit exposed Diaz, and now every Diaz fan (including me) has to ask themselves, “what will Nick do, if he can’t get his opponent to fight against the fence?” Condit has now set the precedent for beating Diaz. Slow him down with leg kicks, keep your back off the cage, and hit him with long rangy strikes as he’s coming forward.

lllibbbo Says, in 2-8-2012 at 14:39:33 from

49:48 is pretty reasonable. the first two rounds should be diaz’s. Condit did not counter sufficiently, but diaz has landed a few and obviously taking all the initiative. the third and forth are Condit’s, there is little doubt… the controversial one is the fifth round, someone like the back-taking and submission attempts other like the counter strikes & movement in the beginning. I gave 10:9 to diaz, because the two submission attempts…

Op_of_faith Says, in 2-8-2012 at 15:00:08 from

Will someone explain HOW you get points for being the aggressor? As an experienced fighter/hobbyist I’m completely sick of this argument. This goes back to the De La Hoya/ Whitaker fight when De La Hoya chased Whitaker the whole fight and did NO damage. At one point DLH threw SEVERAL combos while Whitaker stood in front of him of him and dodged them all.

Fighting is about EFFECTIVE strategies, not the fact that you kept moving forward. It’s TOTAL BS to say that because someone is a counter puncher or defensive fighter that they lose, ESPECIALLY is a case like this. How many hits do you have to take before its obvious that you are getting out thought and out fought…???

^^^^ Says, in 2-8-2012 at 15:00:52 from

I scored it 3-2 for Condit, but I can easily see it going 3-2 for Diaz. People want to criticize Condit, but the blame should be on Nick. I felt like the time Nick spent taunting/talking, he could of the been the aggressive one, instead of trying to walk forward until Condits back was against the fence. He had a beautiful take down in the 5th and easily took Condits back. Why not set that up earlier? Nick can be mad all he wants, but he didn’t go after it. Like I said, there was no decisive winner and I’m fine either way. Hopefully there will be a rematch and we see Nick do something about it this time.

As Bruno had posted about what Freddie Roach said “Diaz has good hands but he is not a great boxer because he doesn’t know how to move.” Condit exposed that and moved better. Diaz definitely has better hands but he didn’t cut off the ring and try to take Condit down. Close fight but Condit won.

MMA is not judged on walking down a fighter, thats only 1 aspect of judging. Diaz was out punched out kicked and out classed. I have no respect for a sore loser and thats what he is no class/no honor/no respect for the martial arts.
Rogan must be smoking some really good weed these days.

I think Condit did out point Diaz. But Condit caused the fight to suck. He literally turned his back and ran like a bitch the entire 25 minutes. I was aggravated just watching his headless chicken style of fighting. Diaz should have gotten the win based on aggression and control, but the fact is Condit did out point him. Another fact is Condit just lost a few million fans and the UFC just lost a few million dollars. No way are as many people going to buy Condit vs GSP than would have bought Diaz vs GSP. Condit vs GSP is going to run and hump for 25 minutes and might have a couple jabs thrown in.

If you recall a week or so ago Nick was crying again and also saying he doesn’t like to fight for money. Some where saying at that time he was talking himself out of this fight and look what happened he sure did.Last year he said he gets no respect and no money this time he says he gets paid alot. Come on Nick is self destructive period if he wanted to not have any controversy then he would have taken it to Condit and stopped him from getting away. In the immortal words of Sean Connery in The Rock “Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and f**k the prom queen”.

Rogan is a serious douche with his new found view in this vid. When he got to the part where is talking “…when you’re doing fight commentary and you’re trying to describe to the in house dad who has just asked his son what are they doing — style of commentary. If you are a judge you should just shut the F*** up and be quiet and watching. He went so far as to suggest the judges don’t even need to be ringside — “just put ‘em in a room with a huge f****** screen, bla bla bla …”

Watch the fight again and listen to Rogan and Goldie in the fourth and fifth rounds. “Condit’s getting loose.” Goldie: “Greg Jackson just put his hands up as if he was expecting that punch low kick head kick to end the fight.”

I completly agree with what yoy say.Like I said in my other post about this figth is go train in kickboxing for a couple of months rewatch the fight and you will absolutly think Diaz lost. You trained so you understand that it’s not running,it,s counter figthing.3 of the best boxers of all time Ali,Pernell Withaker, and Floyd Mayweather all fight that way.they fight smart. If fighting was about standing toe to toe the ring would be 2×2.Agresssion is the most stupid criteria to judge MMA.Chasing a guy and not being able set up anything shouldn’t make you win.Anybody sayine he was running simply never trained in MMA or Kickboxing. In every gym they will tell you to fight like Condit fought.Especially whn you are fighting a dangerous guy like Diaz. This is not a video game. These are real guys.Getting punched in the face, even if it’s a tiny jab, gives you some sort of brain injury.Soccer players get concussions from hitting the ball with their heads a million times in their career. If somebody says Diaz won,he doesn’t understand the base of martial arts and striking arts.Hit without getting hit.Its the most basic thing martial arts teach.

Somebloke Says, in 2-8-2012 at 17:34:12 from

I think peoples feelings about the Jackson “winning before fighting” strategy is getting in the way of their judgement. Condit won that fight…no question (imo!) We’re all worried about the idea of GPS (just for you Bruno) “winning rounds” against Condit rather than having to fight an all out war against Diaz but that doesn’t mean the Diaz should be awarded a victory for walking forwards. Condit landed plenty of shots on Diaz and against a lesser opponent would have looked a lot more damaging. He initiated exchanges and then got out of there before Nick could retaliate. How does that make him the bad guy?

Dana should just make the GSPvDiaz superfight and the winner fights the (interim)Champ.

Bruno: I will never live that (GPS) down.

Oh and people are giving s*** to Condit for not hitting nick with 100% power but it’s what Nick does EVERYTIME.Nick hits people so many time at 50% strenght that they can’t stand it cardio wise and then get blasted for the last rounds.Condit does the same thing to your hero and he’s a hoe a p**** a runner he’s scared etc.Condit used the same gameplan on Nick excpet with better footwork, kicks, and better wits. The only thing Condit didnt do like Diaz is stand there and eat punches like a f”cking idiot. You guys are just mad your hero lost because most of you are GSP haters and hoped the complete opposite would become a champ.I have news for you, every UFC world Champ is a smart technical fighter, even JDS and Aldo got s*** from the few fights they didnt finish because they were figthing smart in those fights.

To quote Beast w/8 Limbs who won the quote of the year:
“Nick Diaz’s balls must be hallucinogenic”
Nick Diaz lost plain and simple.Yes he might have a more fan friendly style but when you lose it’s your fault not the fault of your opponent.

Diaz was in trouble in the fourth round and he knew it, that’s why he started head hunting…hope you didn’t wait too long.

“fact of the matter is thats not that hard to land a kick here and there run, land a jab and run somore.”

Kind of thinking you’re not a fighter…anyone who’s done it wouldn’t say that. Did you see the Cerrone/Diaz (the other brother) fight? The DUMBEST thing you can do is fight to your opponents strengths. That’s a great way to lose…Condit fought a SMART fight. For the Meatheads who don’t get it and haven’t ever done it, it might seems boring, but Condit did what he SHOULD have done which was follow his game plan.

Ya know why I dislike the approach the Diaz brothers take?

I am the shorter fighter. I’m 5′ 9″ on a good day. F*** talk about re-hydrating before fight day. Fight in a gd parking lot, an old youth baseball field, just anywhere — . When you are five nine, you are going to have the other fighter and their entourage talking you down. That talk doesn’t mean s*** to me.

That talk and the stockton slap didn’t mean s*** to Carlos Condit.

Condit stuck to his gameplan — If you think Condit ran in the fight, turned his back — look again and tell me where Condit runs to and resets for the next exchange. He continually moves back to the middle of the cage.

I know Diaz and his fans love to see him corner rangle a fighter and land bodyblows, combos, bam bam, like some f****** video game.

What happens when the game character(Condit) moves the F*** out of the way (Of Diaz Cornering)?

For as many times that UFC ringside judges are condemned; along with the all know hateable Refs — this night, this fight, the ref, the judge, and the fighters got it right.

Condit won it.

james Says, in 2-8-2012 at 18:31:39 from

@Danby apparantly you dont pay nearly enough attention to the fighters payouts of these events. cung le got paid 350k for losing to wanderlei silva, Lesnar also made more money then overeem so yes losing does sometimes pay more depending on the fighters contract.

Death Grip Says, in 2-8-2012 at 18:50:47 from

Diaz won.

I am baffled at different opinions, but we all have them.

Diaz won rounds: 1,2,5
Condit won round: 3
Round 4 was a draw… and I would lean towards Condit.

You don’t give belts to guys that back up the whole way, don’t fight to finish, get taken down, and offer most of their strikes as weak. Condit’s leg kicks except for maybe 2-3 were weak.

I am tired of rewarding runners and layers. Fight to finish… it’s a FIGHT.

I guess the difference is there are those that will abuse rules for a “technical win” and those that will FIGHT.

Diaz FIGHTS and we should all respect that fact.

Dana called for a rematch because he sees huge dollar signs slipping away. GSP was on the phone begging for a rematch between these two because he has no animosity between him and Carlos and he as well wants the big payday against Diaz. Carlos being the only adult in the whole bloody mess decided, Ok, I’ll give him the rematch and true to form, Diaz says no. Joe Rogan is a puppet and voice of the UFC because they believe that we are stupid enough to not see the facts in front of our face. Rogan gets paid by Zuffa and will say anything his bosses tell him to say. Have you ever seen Joe as WWE as he was on FOX2? No you have not. Put the fight aside and listen to reality, this is a thread about Joe Rogan’s opinion. Are there any of you anywhere sitting there asking yourself,”Hm, I wonder what Goldie’s take is on all of this?” Didn’t think so

Freedomfit Says, in 2-8-2012 at 19:14:45 from

Come on…..
Before BJ vs Edgar 1 this might be a story, now it’s just stupid, like most of the Diaz nutsuckers. Being the aggressor is just one aspect of the fight, it will never win you the fight by itself, you need effective techniques, not talking s*** like a 14 yr old. Diaz has victim mentality and will never accept he lost… any fight, even if he was knocked out he’d have some lame excuse, blame someone else, or the UFC. And lastly 1 takedown at the end of the fight, which looked like to me just a chance takedown, not a planned attempt, doesn’t mean s*** when you don’t do anything…. All these f****** mma retards thinking Diaz would have finished the fight with a submission are just hopeful or have been smoking some mexi weed. Joe is way off here and is far from objective, as usual.

T’Challa Says, in 2-8-2012 at 19:47:47 from

What good is walking forward all fight without, you know, ACTUALLY HITTING YOUR OPPONENT?? While Diaz walked forward and hit nothing, he was getting leg kicked and counter struck all night.. UFC just wants to hype this “controversy” so they can have a chance to set up the dream GSP vs Diaz match. I bet if Bisping had one that last fight against Chael, they would have found a way to rematch before Silva..

TransitionTR450 Says, in 2-8-2012 at 21:38:58 from

When is walking forward considered ring control? Ring control is when you’re punching and kicking your opponent more than he’s punching and kicking you! Diaz lost that fight by being hit more times than he hit Condit. Seems pretty simple except to Diaz fans. Why not change your gameplan after 2 rounds if it’s not working? Seems to me his corner was telling him how great he was and not even believing he “might” be losing.
What I would like to see, is GSP, because he was out so long, is have a tuneup fight against Diaz. Diaz wins, he fights for the belt against Condit then a rematch with GSP.

I actually enjoyed the fight and did not find it boring. It was a close fight and neither fighter should have whined about losing after leaving it in the judges hands. Both fighters did not fight with “championship’ calibre. Carlos did not have the killer instinct he usually has. He did do enough to win, but he took a huge risk by not being more aggressive (I guess it payed off). Nick, also did enough to win, but not convincingly. He did not alter his style, even though it was ineffective. Perhaps he has no other style (over rated). Styles make fights, and I enjoyed the close match. I was excited at the end with the anticipation of a decision that i did not know who would win. Looking forward to GSP/Condit.

here’s how i see it. I could watch this fight several times and possibly score it differently each time. MMA scoring is still developing. we’re just now getting away from the days of landing a take down against a guy who pummeled your face the entire fight earned you a W in the UFC. it will get better. but for now…how do you score aggression? being affective. if both guys are dancing around and being equally affective…the edge in aggression goes to the aggressor period. I really don’t wanna say who I think won, because it could change the next time I watch the fight. I will say this…something I don’t think I’ve heard to many people mention yet. I think a big part of Carlos getting the nod has to do with the same reason Nick had a tough time in his initial run in the UFC. Perception. Doesn’t matter if you act like a dick in the fight but you’re a great guy in real life, meanwhile the guy who speaks agreeable into the mike is a bully/asshole IRL. Carlos got a lot of appreciation IMO from a lot of people just for showing he was the guy who could go toe to toe with the big bad wolf. I wanna see a rematch.

I guess Condit has extra limbs because the Diaz lovers say that he ran away the whole fight, yet he threw 40 more kicks and over 40 more significant strikes. This is against Diaz that plays patty cake with his punches so don’t tell me Condit’s punches had nothing on them. I really doubt Diaz gives Condit a rematch if the situation were reversed.

Licks72 Says, in 2-9-2012 at 09:09:48 from

The UFC fans deserve a professional commentator, not Rogan with his unprofessional screaming garbage.Every time he opens his mouth he cheapens his words. How many times have you heard Joe scream that the sub attempt “is in tight” only to have the guy slip out immediately. It’s like saying that the baseball is over the fence only to end up saying that the shortstop caught it.

levercham Says, in 2-9-2012 at 10:31:28 from

All of these morons commenting is one of the very bad aspect of the UFC going primetime on fox, there are several million new viewers that are suddenly fanboys, just like in the old days, expecting every fight to be jean claude van damme karate s*** and huge knockouts, etc etc etc.
Nick Diaz was also fighting conservatively, believe it or not, because he knew if he totally lost his composure and went balls to the wall, condit completely had the ability to end the match.
That being said, Nick is a great and exciting fighter, but he has to be able to come up with a new gameplan when #1 does not work.
For 25 minutes, nicks gameplan pretty much didn’t work ( rounds blah blah arguably nicks) all of that BS aside.
If any of you thought this fight was BS, you are simply beyond delusional if you thought fighting GSP would have gone any better for diaz.
GSP is going to jab and shadow box diaz , and then take him down, and land small elbows, punches, and knees, for 5 rounds if there is no finish.
GSP will probably throw a couple submission attempts in there also, along with like 10-15 takedowns, while absorbing almost no damage as compared to what diaz will receive. The ones on here bitching now, will be crying about the same s*** when above stated scenario occurs.
Adapt and Overcome, or you will get smashed. Penn folded to diaz because he failed to adapt to someone absolutey smashing him, diaz failed to condit because he failed to adapt to an adequate challenger who didnt fold to his pace or s*** talking.
Anyone who thinks diaz in his current state would do even 1 % better against GSP is simply an idiot, you guys need to grow up and really examine how you view this sport if that is your take on things.
This sport is a GAME, yes, its fighting, yes, some fighters choose to go out and simply throw bombs until it ends one way or the other.
But fighters like GSP and Condit will not be semi retarded with a dozen different kinds of brain injuries when they are 45. And all of the bitching and whining in the world by BAD FANS, will not change the fact that every last one of these dudes that go out and take 100 + punches to the head in every match, are going to get absolutely jacked up before their (much shorter ) careers are over.
I have personally had a rough ass life, and i would gather most of the people on the internet BITCHING, that condit ran for 25 minutes, are either stupid, or have not been in very many real fights.
It really sucks badly to be punched and kicked, especially in the head, it is a GOOD thing to avoid this, and still dish it out more than your opponent is, anyone failing to understand this concept is a moron.
Thanks for running an awesome site bruno.

everyone defending condit is a f****** idiot… there are more ways to avoid being hit than to run away… ever hear of circling? ever hear of slipping? condit fought like a man who is afraid of another man. diaz landed the significant strikes and controlled the octoagan. he also got a takedown and was the only person who came close to finishing a fight. this isn’t kick boxing, it’s mma and so many things to to be accounted for… not just kicking to the leg and running away. condit legit turned his back and ran more than a couple times each round…

Anderson Silva is a smart fighter who takes almost no damage in any of his fights. He also never turns his back and runs away from a fighter. (unless he’s mocking them) Running from an exchange shows a lack of refined striking skills and fear. Slip and counter not slip and run away. I liked Condit before this fight, but it was quite obvious he was afraid of Diaz. Did Condit out point Diaz? Yes. Did Condit win the fight? No. For the number of “significant” strikes Condit supposedly landed, Diaz’s face was remarkably unmarked. BJ fought Nick and landed significant strikes. Condit rubbed Nick’s face and ran. The worst mark on Nick’s face after the fight was a scratch. POWER SHOTS!!! Diaz fought, Condit survived.

Best post on the thread. Dead on with all points. The reality is that fighting is not about how it LOOKS. I don’t think ANY fighters thought Diaz won. Arm-Chair Warrior, Keyboard Warriors, sure, but no one who actually does it thinks Diaz won.

I ask again, SCORE THE FIGHT. Let’s go 2 to 1 on leg kicks…Condit still won. If you think his best move was to play “Rock ‘em, sock ‘em Robots with Diaz then you are simply stupid. At NO point is chasing someone and not connecting shots “Octogon Control”…Fox Fans and Meatheads may be one of the worst thing for the sport…

Thanks for the site, Bruno…

After watching that fight for a second time, Diaz had that look on his face that he lost this fight after the fifth round. Condit knew he’d won, so i gotta say my first impression of Carlos winning was correct. 3 judges agreed too…

KungFuLowKick Says, in 2-9-2012 at 15:19:02 from

Getting out moved and chasing a guy doesnt mean you are controlling teh octagon.CARLOS CONTROLLED THE OCTOGON NOT NICK.Nick could never corner Carlos and Carlos outmoved him.So what do you have to say now haters. You dont even have the excuse that Nick won 2 of the judging criteria. No he didnt. He just won agression.Anyways here’s how judges should count these criterias:
Effective striking: 40% of the score
Effective grappling: 40% of the score
Octogon control: 10% of the score
Agression:10% of the score.
And most fighting sports dont even judge agression because it’s against what martial arts teach you.And for the WWE fan-noobs judging agression sounds to them that if you don’t fight like an idiot swinging for the fences you should lose.

Sometimes Rogan should take a few more bong hits with Diaz prior to m*********** him.

agreed 100% very well said.

you are wrong my friend it has nothing to do with people jumping the wagon.
I’ve always like Condit but that was no “technique” winning.
it was running away and sneaking little kicks and punches while running away.
just like snype6969 said they scored it like boxing for the little ineffective kicks and stuff. this is MMA fighters shouldn’t win by running.
right after the fight I had the same opinion as I do now. I think people that know more about mma can understand but people that know about scoring little hit games don’t know.
MMA is about who has the most effective strikes and aggression. Condit surely didn’t impose any threat nor he was aggressive he won by getting scores from little ineffective strikes while running away.
