For people talking about the subjective/objective thing, Rogan is high and slipped up. He’s still a smart dude.
And to say that he is “biased as s***”, you are a dumbass. He has opinions about fights and fighters , but he is still the best commentator out there.
This makes me sad because Rampage is my favorite fighter, and I’m not sure for the reason he attacked Rogan. Hopefully everything gets settled between them, because they are cool guys who shouldn’t bicker over something as a small as a comment about leg kicks.

Can we just get to a point in MMA where people dont take Rogaine’s opinion as gospel and then regurgitate it all over these forums? He is bias as sh*t- i mean hello? he works for the UFC so his opinion cannot be objective because he will never say anything that does not promote the UFC as a whole. That is fine but for him to pretend he is neutral is just silly. It is about time someone called him out like Page did. There are plenty of real fighters who have other equally interesting opinions. “objective opinion” works even if the opinion being given isn’t. Not all opinions are equal and one can come from an objective standpoint. Rampage is saying that Joe is being subjective and attempts to explain how and Joe is saying he is being objective and attempts to explain how.

Well we know why he doesn’t do the ‘Rampage slam’ anymore, W. Silva showed how to defend it. He tried it in one of his recent fights, and the guy defended it. If your going to fight rampage, defending that slam is one of the first things you’d learn.

I like Joe’s commentary and I like him as a person. But sometimes he is incredibly biased.
Classic example: Watch GSP’s octagon debut vs Karo Parisyan… Karo spends the whole fight on his back getting pounded and all the while Joe just keeps saying “Karo’s so dangerous though, KARO’s GOING FOR AN ARM! Karo has elite level grappling” etc etc
Then when GSP escapes Karo’s 1 submission attempt all he does is makes some comment about him being strong.

Did anybody notice the freudian slip by Rogan at around 1 min 25? He says “When I’m Judging a fight, oh um not judging a fight!..When I’m commentating on a fight!”
He hit the nail on the head the first time. The problem is instead of just giving us the blow by blow account of what’s going on (which is what a good commentator does) he forces too much of his own opinions down the viewers throat, at times where there may be a number of different ways to look at what’s going on in the cage.
The only opinion a viewer gets during a fight is Joe Rogan’s (JUST 1 MAN) and that is very unfair to the fighter who he’s picking apart because there’s nobody else there to give an alternative view and some people understandably take what he’s saying as gospel…..
Which is why he should for the most part keep his opinions to himself. It’s more professional that way. Like Jackson said, check out Rutten and Ranallo’s commentary in Pride. They got it right

Another little thought I’ve just had. Maybe Rogan’s style of commentary wouldn’t be so bad if they just got rid of the useless Mike Goldberg (who just goes along with everything Joe says) and replaced him with someone like Bas Rutten, who wouldn’t be afraid to disagree with Rogan once in a while and then we’d have a second opinion of everything. I think that’s the solution

WOW, some of you have no idea what your talking about and just hating because you can write whatever the hell you want over the internet. Joe does a great job and he knows his MMA. He might seem like he is biased, but Joe is just caught up in the moment and is a big fan of the sport. He would rave about one fighter, but it doesn’t mean he is favoring/biased towards that person, Joe is just caught up in the moment and that’s how he is. He has said it many times, there is no interest for him to be biased. He just loves styles and watching fights. On the other hand, Rampage is just a sensitive guy who always upset over everything. He’s a cool guy with a short temper. I have seen him get upset over little and stupid things. I also think he blew this up out of proportion.

I get tweaked at Joe from time to time when he is clearly favoring one fighter over another. But, by and large, the guy does an excellent job. He knows the sport, he knows stand up, he knows grappling, etc…

I think when you put rampages’ thoughts in perspective he means joe is harsh when it comes to guys game plan. He doesn’t know what their gameplan is & fighters will tell you it often changes during the fight. Another disadvantage we have is that we are seeing it on TV vs live. I’ve been to live fights and you get the ‘feel’ of the fight more, easier to ‘judge’ if you’re a fan that likes the game within the game like myself. I saw that interview where he said and rampage was in between training sessions, looked tired as s*** and he probably didn’t want to sound as bluntly as he put it cause he could’ve rephrased what he wanted to say cause it wasn’t all that bad joe should lighten up. Joe Rogan is right, but for another reason than he cited. Rampage’s standup, although good, has become predictably boxing-oriented. He doesn’t keep guys guessing with leg kicks, which would make him much more effective. I also think he’s not getting the big slams he once did because guys have gotten a lot better and it takes a lot of energy working for those.
Nothing wrong with Rogan’s commentary. He’s authentic with a good knowledge of the game.

I don’t consider Rogan a deity like some others out there do, and certainly no commentator, including Rogan, is infallible, but let us not forget the verbal altercation/bitchfest that Rampage got into with Ariel Helwani less than a year ago. Rampage waited a long time to give Joe his due. I’ve noticed Joes’ biases for years. Joe’s commentary for Rampage on THQ’s Undisputed 2010 was rude and we know Ramage likes his video games. Joe thinks he’s MMA’s Bert Sugar. Joe sounds humble here he needed a reality check. . Go Rampage

Wow! Well, the truth is no matter how hard any commentator may attempt to stay objective they will bring part of their own subjectivity/bias into what they say. It’s impossible to completely objective as a commentator, but I don’t have a problem with that. Overall, I think Rogan is a good commentator, but I do feel that lately he spends way too much “judging” the fight instead of just commentating on the action. When he called out that official in the ring (can’t remember which one) after the fight, he showed just how far off track he’s come. He also needs to be careful not to get tunnel vision and only commentate on one side of the action. That being said, I would prefer to listen to hours of Rogan as a commentator than one more minute of those fools on Fuel TV. Also, I know a lot of people don’t like his style, but I think Frank Mir and Joe Rogan could make a good team. Goldberg drives me insane.

Goldberg is a little more objective. Florian and Anik are very objective. Mir is pretty objective. Bas isn’t bad but he’s a little biased.
Maybe Rampage had a friggin strategy that differed from your SUBJECTIVE opinion, Joe. And maybe you should comment less on what they ‘should’ be doing and who ‘should’ be winning or losing etc. and actually comment on what’s happening in the fight. Rogan does know what he’s talking about, he just smokes too much before his shows. Goldberg’s gotta go, though he’s better lately than before.
