Err … opinions are subjective, Joe. And yeah, you can still play with Rampage. He’ll answer the phone.

Wow what a mood swing, Rogan got his feelings hurt. It’ll be ok Joe, as soon as your high wears off, you silly little pot head.

lol “objective opinion” c’mon Joe thought you were more intelligent than that…

Trout Sniffer Says, in 2-21-2012 at 15:38:53 from

I wish Rampage wouid kick Rogaines ass! I am sick of this dude! He is biased and now he is trying to kiss Rampages ass by saying that he loves him. He talked s*** the whole time about Rampage during the Jones-Rampage fight. Go pick on comics (Mencia) you prick!

Trent Says, in 2-21-2012 at 15:40:50 from

For people talking about the subjective/objective thing, Rogan is high and slipped up. He’s still a smart dude.

And to say that he is “biased as s***”, you are a dumbass. He has opinions about fights and fighters , but he is still the best commentator out there.

This makes me sad because Rampage is my favorite fighter, and I’m not sure for the reason he attacked Rogan. Hopefully everything gets settled between them, because they are cool guys who shouldn’t bicker over something as a small as a comment about leg kicks.

luke Says, in 2-21-2012 at 15:43:49 from

Can we just get to a point in MMA where people dont take Rogaine’s opinion as gospel and then regurgitate it all over these forums? He is bias as sh*t- i mean hello? he works for the UFC so his opinion cannot be objective because he will never say anything that does not promote the UFC as a whole. That is fine but for him to pretend he is neutral is just silly. It is about time someone called him out like Page did. There are plenty of real fighters who have other equally interesting opinions. Now that mma has been introduced to the idiot masses lets have a little less Rogaine and a little more expert commentary. Besides why does a grown, married man talk about masterbation so much? There is something wack about that 4 sure.

nogi_revolution Says, in 2-21-2012 at 15:51:00 from

He forgot to mention how he criticized Rampage for not eating the chicken legs and only focusing on the wings.
In most arguments Joe squares off against people he can physically body, it’s funny to see his tail between his legs after someone stronger calls him “fake”.

Ozinator Says, in 2-21-2012 at 16:14:27 from

“objective opinion” works even if the opinion being given isn’t. Not all opinions are equal and one can come from an objective standpoint. Rampage is saying that Joe is being subjective and attempts to explain how and Joe is saying he is being objective and attempts to explain how.

nel Says, in 2-21-2012 at 16:19:55 from

MMA fighters are really sensitive to criticism, Reporters and comentators are going to talk and the fighters shouldn’t take it personally(ex. Ariel hewanni vs forest griffin)

J-Bone Says, in 2-21-2012 at 17:02:49 from

Well we know why he doesn’t do the ‘Rampage slam’ anymore, W. Silva showed how to defend it. He tried it in one of his recent fights, and the guy defended it. If your going to fight rampage, defending that slam is one of the first things you’d learn.

SEAN_VANCE Says, in 2-21-2012 at 17:11:54 from

I dont like ROgans style cos hes rough around the edges…but its a tough job to commentate and give opinions, and try to please everyone. So Rampage needs to chill out, Rogan is just making observations, yeah he needs to kick or something, do something different…

l1fel1ke Says, in 2-21-2012 at 18:22:10 from

I like Joe’s commentary and I like him as a person. But sometimes he is incredibly biased.

Classic example: Watch GSP’s octagon debut vs Karo Parisyan… Karo spends the whole fight on his back getting pounded and all the while Joe just keeps saying “Karo’s so dangerous though, KARO’s GOING FOR AN ARM! Karo has elite level grappling” etc etc

Then when GSP escapes Karo’s 1 submission attempt all he does is makes some comment about him being strong.

alwaysright Says, in 2-21-2012 at 18:23:44 from

Did anybody notice the freudian slip by Rogan at around 1 min 25? He says “When I’m Judging a fight, oh um not judging a fight!..When I’m commentating on a fight!”

He hit the nail on the head the first time. The problem is instead of just giving us the blow by blow account of what’s going on (which is what a good commentator does) he forces too much of his own opinions down the viewers throat, at times where there may be a number of different ways to look at what’s going on in the cage.
The only opinion a viewer gets during a fight is Joe Rogan’s (JUST 1 MAN) and that is very unfair to the fighter who he’s picking apart because there’s nobody else there to give an alternative view and some people understandably take what he’s saying as gospel…..

Which is why he should for the most part keep his opinions to himself. It’s more professional that way. Like Jackson said, check out Rutten and Ranallo’s commentary in Pride. They got it right

alwaysright Says, in 2-21-2012 at 18:33:06 from

Another little thought I’ve just had. Maybe Rogan’s style of commentary wouldn’t be so bad if they just got rid of the useless Mike Goldberg (who just goes along with everything Joe says) and replaced him with someone like Bas Rutten, who wouldn’t be afraid to disagree with Rogan once in a while and then we’d have a second opinion of everything. I think that’s the solution

IKnives Says, in 2-21-2012 at 18:39:49 from

Rampage is just another baby brained wrestler/fighter/jock. He should stop picking on people because he doesn’t have the belt and look at all the champions and how they carry themselves. I love his fights but he is the biggest fool in the UFC.

WOW, some of you have no idea what your talking about and just hating because you can write whatever the hell you want over the internet. Joe does a great job and he knows his MMA. He might seem like he is biased, but Joe is just caught up in the moment and is a big fan of the sport. He would rave about one fighter, but it doesn’t mean he is favoring/biased towards that person, Joe is just caught up in the moment and that’s how he is. He has said it many times, there is no interest for him to be biased. He just loves styles and watching fights. On the other hand, Rampage is just a sensitive guy who always upset over everything. He’s a cool guy with a short temper. I have seen him get upset over little and stupid things. I also think he blew this up out of proportion.

Roe Jogan Says, in 2-21-2012 at 19:27:30 from

I get tweaked at Joe from time to time when he is clearly favoring one fighter over another. But, by and large, the guy does an excellent job. He knows the sport, he knows stand up, he knows grappling, etc…

Also all you keyboard warriors… Joe trains a lot. 99% of you get owned by him.

mma made easy Says, in 2-21-2012 at 19:44:09 from

that being said, Joe’s often right. He’s well versed in MMA and has seen a loooot of fights. I find Joe is often saying what I’m saying when I’m watching.

@Roe Jogan because we do not like his biased opinion you think he is going to “own” one of us for voicing our opinion? I would have no problem telling him to his face that I think that he is biased, and he would probably tell me to F*** off. But “owning” me….doubt it.

WTFson Says, in 2-21-2012 at 23:31:06 from

I think when you put rampages’ thoughts in perspective he means joe is harsh when it comes to guys game plan. He doesn’t know what their gameplan is & fighters will tell you it often changes during the fight. Another disadvantage we have is that we are seeing it on TV vs live. I’ve been to live fights and you get the ‘feel’ of the fight more, easier to ‘judge’ if you’re a fan that likes the game within the game like myself. I saw that interview where he said and rampage was in between training sessions, looked tired as s*** and he probably didn’t want to sound as bluntly as he put it cause he could’ve rephrased what he wanted to say cause it wasn’t all that bad joe should lighten up. Man joe must be high as sh*t lol he is using his inner teddy bear voice i mean damn where is that joe we see in his stand up?? Take some TRT therapy or some s*** and getcha MAN back up.

KungFuLowKick Says, in 2-22-2012 at 00:29:24 from

I love people criticizing Joe Rogan for saying his opinion in fights.Just like if he was some kind of hypnotizer who convince people to lean a way or another. He’s just a guy saying his opinion and anybody who knows anything about MMA and who just don’t watch it for the blood and gore will just disagree with some things he says and agree with others. But then you have an opinion wich is the same as somebody public in MMA and you get called a nuthugger.People should stop to try to take a side and start to look at things with their own opinion.
Ramapge is a good guy and Joe never seems to say he is better then anybody he is just commenting what’s happenning. And when a guy doesnt land a punch in a whole fight but hits somebody with good leg kicks, then ofcoure people will think you should throw more kicks.

Genghis Khan Says, in 2-22-2012 at 00:40:33 from

Genghis Khan Says, in 2-22-2012 at 00:47:22 from

You know what the problem with Rogan is , he thinks he’s more than a commentator in the UFC. He should stick to commentating and not giving his personal opinions, no one gives a F*** what this clown has to say

I love Joe Rogan and Rampage

Drew Says, in 2-22-2012 at 01:14:39 from

Joe Rogan is right, but for another reason than he cited. Rampage’s standup, although good, has become predictably boxing-oriented. He doesn’t keep guys guessing with leg kicks, which would make him much more effective. I also think he’s not getting the big slams he once did because guys have gotten a lot better and it takes a lot of energy working for those.

Nothing wrong with Rogan’s commentary. He’s authentic with a good knowledge of the game.

Meltface Says, in 2-22-2012 at 02:43:45 from

MaseW456 Says, in 2-22-2012 at 03:16:15 from

I don’t consider Rogan a deity like some others out there do, and certainly no commentator, including Rogan, is infallible, but let us not forget the verbal altercation/bitchfest that Rampage got into with Ariel Helwani less than a year ago. The dude is sensitive like a high school aged girl getting called out for having no tits.

If Rampage spent less time crying about Rogan’s comments about using more leg kicks and more time actually LISTENING he’d probably be winning more fights.

Rogan is the best commentator in the sport and Rampage is clearly past his prime.

…can anyone come up with a GOOD commentator? I don’t always like Rogan commentary but Page is being Bi-polar…The fact of the matter is that Rogan is EXTREMELY knowledgable about the sport. I regained respect for him when he went from “tradition Martial Arts is a joke…” to “well, a traditional Martial Artist would just gouge your eyes out…” LOL! Rogan does what he does-you don’t always have to agree…

Adam87 Says, in 2-22-2012 at 12:47:19 from

Beast w/ 8 Limbs Says, in 2-22-2012 at 13:01:53 from

It does get annoying sometimes to listen to Rogan talk exclusively about 1 of the fighters while almost completely disregarding the other. While not exactly biased, it is extremely off-putting.

Nothing that can be perceived by humans is unbiased and personally i find his commentary to be fairly level. I would actually take quotes that previous posters here used to show hes biased to show how hes not biased…but i guess that just a matter of opinion haha

Rampage waited a long time to give Joe his due. I’ve noticed Joes’ biases for years. Joe’s commentary for Rampage on THQ’s Undisputed 2010 was rude and we know Ramage likes his video games. Joe thinks he’s MMA’s Bert Sugar. Joe sounds humble here he needed a reality check. . Go Rampage

jches Says, in 2-22-2012 at 21:48:08 from

Wow! Well, the truth is no matter how hard any commentator may attempt to stay objective they will bring part of their own subjectivity/bias into what they say. It’s impossible to completely objective as a commentator, but I don’t have a problem with that. Overall, I think Rogan is a good commentator, but I do feel that lately he spends way too much “judging” the fight instead of just commentating on the action. When he called out that official in the ring (can’t remember which one) after the fight, he showed just how far off track he’s come. He also needs to be careful not to get tunnel vision and only commentate on one side of the action. That being said, I would prefer to listen to hours of Rogan as a commentator than one more minute of those fools on Fuel TV. Also, I know a lot of people don’t like his style, but I think Frank Mir and Joe Rogan could make a good team. Goldberg drives me insane.

steamer Says, in 2-22-2012 at 22:44:46 from

much spek jogan……fuk page if he wanna get mad. do yo thang and do it well man. Rogan is showing that there is no hate on his end, so if page really wants to get hateful with a short white commentator…maybe your anger insn’t well placed big G. FOCUS. RAMPAGE!!!! FOCUS!

tobes Says, in 2-22-2012 at 23:42:18 from

If you’re putting out a video to say that you’re cool with Rampage, don’t finish it by saying that your favorite all-time fighter is Wanderlei Silva. For some reason, I don’t think that will help put you in Rampage’s good books ;)

tobes Says, in 2-22-2012 at 23:46:57 from

also ‘debooter’ i also laughed at Rogan repeatedly saying “objective opinion”… “i just gotta be objective”… he clearly doesn’t know what the hell that word means. he is the opposite of an objective commentator. Goldberg is a little more objective. Florian and Anik are very objective. Mir is pretty objective. Bas isn’t bad but he’s a little biased.

Maybe Rampage had a friggin strategy that differed from your SUBJECTIVE opinion, Joe. And maybe you should comment less on what they ‘should’ be doing and who ‘should’ be winning or losing etc. and actually comment on what’s happening in the fight. Rogan does know what he’s talking about, he just smokes too much before his shows. Goldberg’s gotta go, though he’s better lately than before.
