i hope that ref gets killed.if soem ones trying to bash your face in and you cover up to where none , or say one out of four punches are landing that is defending yourself.thats one part of mmas evolution i do not like is fighters dont have a chance to show there toughness like the are allowed to in boxing.

Joe “painkiller” Riggs just can’t seem to get it together…doesn’t matter if he gives his training partners trouble during practice, he just can’t deliver in the actual fights..didn’t necessarily agree with the stoppage…don’t think Joe would do much better if he drops to 170lbs…

Riggs wasnt “intelligently” defending himself.
He wasnt even trying to pull guard, he just layed there covering his face.

Yea..the MMA world has to look at a lot of things when it comes to the rules…especially “intelligent defense”.

Joe’s hands were up and he was in guard. Joe was rocked yes…but how many times have we seen Big Nog get rocked HARDER…then to come back and win the fight.

for those of you who haven’t watched the fight yet: skip the first round. you won’t miss a thing. makes me wish the ole yellow card from Pride could have been applied during this fight. yes, the stoppage was a bit early, but Diesel had plenty of time to let his hands go but he just never did. he looked more like a mini cooper than a diesel.

Horribly boring fight. They played pattycake for most of the first round and “sized each other up.” Both counterpunchers by nature so neither wanted to throw anything.

And Riggs was covering up but also sitting up, i.e. not laying down on the mat. He was still in the fight, even had guard up (even if he hadn’t locked it in). Definitely early stoppage, but a more experienced fighter wouldn’t have had that problem. If he’d really showed effort on locking in the guard and try for body control on Misaki, he wouldn’t have given Rosenthal a chance to f**k it up again.

he wasnt hitting in the beginning but in the end watch the last 3 punches and they all connected in a row which means Mizaki primed in after realizing that Riggs wast just covering up and doesnt know where the punches are coming from. Good stoppage you can see Riggs face get punched and his back hit the floor. then 2 more after taht.

To the idiots saying this isnt intellegently defending yourself, what do you want? He rolled over and had his arms locked blocking all the punches that he new were coming from a brage its might not be the ‘most’ intellegent way to defend yourself but not getting hit = defense morons, fights shouldnt get stopped just because you get stunned, it takes a few seconds to recover, which you can do long as your not taking more damage.

Yes, it was a bad stoppage but it was also another lame fight by Joe Riggs. How is he even a main event? He always loses. Remember last time he was a main event and Diego KO’d him in about 30 seconds. Just because he may look badass because of a big dumb Tattoo doesnt make him any good.

This fight was the lamest of the lame. It felt like they were shadow boxing the whole time. Right when they actually started to hit each other, the ref stops it.

Oh, and Riggs moment was many years ago. Though you will still suffer through Riggs fights and he might even knock someone out again one day, it would be under the same circumstances as like a Baroni. Only will be able to win in the small shows against no one special.

No idiots, what china boy did was smart.if he would have tried to power punch riggs instead of steady fast punches he would have probably gased and ended up doing more damage but not to stop it. mma fighters need to punch as fast as you can when you drop somone like that, because the ref doesen’t judge by the power of the puches but how many connect withen a period of time, when a downed opponent is doing nothen. noobie noobsaucers

It was an early stoppage, but Riggs was done anyway… the ref should have waited a few more seconds, ’til Misaki got in a few hard shots through the guard, then called it.

Really, though, Riggs could’ve pushed Misaki off with his legs (or pushed himself out) from that position, had he been thinking clearly… he was kinda just curled up in a ball there.
