j23, i dont call a first round knock down helpless, mute…..right on man. i’m glad you posted this Bruno, most ppl don’t appreciate the sweet science anymore. last year, i was hating boxing, but there have been some good fights this year. if calzaghe were to retire at this point it would mean the only 2 pro fighters to ever retire undefeated are calzaghe and marciano, in my opinion best fighter of all time is still Ray Robinson 202 fights, 175 wins, 108 kos, 19 losses, 6 wins, 2 no contest, and thats just recordable, provable fights, Sugar actually reported 250+ fights by his account

Jones has to be respected for dominating the sport for 10years and at his best he was so unique and special – nothing traditional about his style. He has set many records including playing pro Bball on the day of a fight, fighting in multiple weight classes and winnning belts.

At this stage in his career Calzaue wasjust CLEARLY better. First time i’ve seen Calzague and i have to say i was impressed

Whats with the boxing bashing?
Why would you bother comparing boxing and MMA?
Do you bash Savate, Sanda, Muay Thai matches too.. do you even know what they are?!

I would rather watch a good kickboxing (not American kickboxing) match, than a good MMA match… yet you don’t see me bashing MMA… why you may ask… because I respect them all as their own entity!

Also, I rather see a boxing fight go the distance than an MMA fight… I haven’t seen many boring boxing fight go the distance… yet I have seen PLENTY of MMA fights go the distance… factor in 12 rounds vs 3… you get the point don’t ya!

What turned me off from boxing was the same shit the UFC is doing now… Cash cow matches!!!

Notice how much class the commentators spoke with, sweet gaps of silence to enjoy the fight?… No annoying voice and commentating from Joe Rogan… MMA has a long way to go in North America in regards to commentating. Noticed how all three spoke their minds.

MMA has a long way to go before it starts looking polished up. Have you ever seen boxing sell itself with blood splashes on their ads or on their commercials?… The UFC sells their sport to the uneducated masses, that’s why people BOO all he time.

I wish MMA sold it’s self with some class.. unfortunately with shows like TUF, class is the far from being part of MMA in America.

I’d hate to be one of RJJ’s left ribs the next day!!

He made an ass of Jones in Round 3 where he stood right in front of Jones with his hands down and put his face on Jones’ gloves numerous times. Jones never took a swing.

So if RJJ would have beat Calzaghe in his prime is officall one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, you do know RJJ dodged fighting Joe 10 years ago because he knew he would lose. Calzaghe is probably the best super middle weight ever – in the last couple of years he beat the best supermiddleweight (kessler) and the best Light heavy weight (Hopkins) – not just in my opinion but based on ring magazine and espn rankings. He would have beaten Roy in his prime, RJJ was a great fighter and has a harder puncher than Joe, but Calzaghe is the better boxer and he would have been outworked Jones.
