The announcers always say that McDonald has solid standup, but I was never sold on that. I always thought his standup was mediocre and it showed as he came in wide open winging punches. With a long reach, he should use his jab and more kicks to keep his opponent at bay. After he softens them up, those takedowns would open up more.
