that was a nice roundhouse upsweep kick from khalidov as well as a spinning heel kick..he’s like a cross between cung le and sakuraba.. good game plan by guida to keep the distance close, could have been alot worse for him…his conditioning is the complete opposite of his brother Clay..that mouthpiece fiasco was a total joke but not enough to save him..

This was such a weird fight. The ref is swearing up and down cus he can’t find the mouthpiece Guida slaps one out of his hand and later shoves the ref for the early stop. Then comes the dumbest post fight questions ever. That interview was by far the most painful part of the fight. Mamed deserves some applause for his performance not boos. I felt like he got robbed of any satisfaction after that win.

Yeah, that ‘interview’ should have been administered by a 15-year-old fanboy. I thought that the stoppage was dead-on when it happened, but after the replay, only about 2 of those shots landed. The ref should have waited a little longer: I’d say about 10 seconds would have seen a ko.
When they stopped the fight, why didn’t they restart in the same position?!

guida was def on his way to getting knocked out, but i dont agree with the early stoppage, the rule is that the official is supposed stop it when the fighter can no longer intelligently defend himself, guida was shielding, still defending himself. alot of referees need to read over that stoppage rule again. if these fighters want to push referees and childish things like that then maybe the refs should let fighters score those few extra punches to let people like guida know theyre knocked out lol

Mamed should have dropped him with the punches at the end, but just seemed happy to punch at Jason’s guard all night long. Maybe it was the broken thumb and Mamed couldn’t throw down? who know’s?

Wow, Jason Guida was sent home in the prelims on TUF cuz he couldn’t make weight. He stalls for time and looks gassed through most of this fight. I’m gonna venture to say this dude isn’t very committed to being a fighter. His record now goes to 17-18. That’s a pretty shitty record.

That post-fight interview was quite awkward. It would be even more so if Lewandowski, Khalidov’s cornerman/promoter did indeed translate that in his fighter’s opinion referee had intervened prematurely.
If only Mamed dropped to 185(he fights at his natural weight of 195), he could in my opinion compete succesfully against the best in the division. Otherwise, he will struggle against bigger and stronger opposition.
Those interested in Khalidov’s unorthodox style should check some of his fights in KSW, a Polish-based promotion.

If Jason’s little brother wasn’t so damned entertaining, there’s no way he’d be getting any televised fights. He’s 17-18 officially now (though he claims 25-18 as the announcer said) and while that would be awesome for a batter at the beginning of a baseball season, it’s pathetic for a fighter’s record.
Now he’s embarassed himself even worse. The mouthpiece bullshit (seriously, there should be a rule that a fighter’s corner carry 2 extra mouthpieces so the fight can continue with very minimal delay), then shoving the ref. In most sports, that will get you a heavy fine and in the hyper-competitive world that is MMA, it can earn you a ban from the organization.
Maybe not a big deal, but when all he can get is a ShowXC fight after f**king up his shot at the UFC, he doesn’t have too much farther to fall. Maybe he can get into some biker bar king-of-the-ring slugfests or something.

Just to inform some people - Elite XC does not hire the referees, they are provided by the athletic commission. You can’t fault the company for the ref’s inept behavior.
Also I did notice Guida’s picture and thought he looks like a doofus in it

I completely agree with most people that Jason Guida lacks any of Clay’s good qualities. After seeing him not make weight for the Ultimate Fighter, wasn’t surprised to him looking gassed out in this fight. Hope he was suspended for the shove, it’s not the referee’s fault he wasn’t going to move and just stand there and get punched. He knew this was a fight right?
