Good fight. Log in to Reply SpLaT April 22, 2008 knee to the body would have finished him nicely their Log in to Reply David April 22, 2008 thanks for posting this fight gotta be happy for jason day, the guys been travelling around canada for years, and does awesome when he gets his shot in the ufc Log in to Reply Crusher April 22, 2008 Excellent Stoppage! That was absolutely amazing work on the ground by Jason Day. Belcher had to be sorry he ever got the take down. I have not seen someone so completely own from bottom position with strikes for a very long time. Also… that is what you get for wearing the gay trunks. If you are going to wear that crap you better Fing bring it. Log in to Reply KieranMac April 22, 2008 Day brought it big time, Belcher was completely outclassed on the ground. He got crushed in the one area of his game he’s supposed to dominate. Log in to Reply ATT Maccabee April 22, 2008 I can’t believe that they did not show that fight on the PPV!!!!!!!!!! I also can’t believe that he didn’t get knockout of the night!!!!!! I just became a fan of Jason Day. Log in to Reply mefninja April 22, 2008 thats embrassing for belcher.. got beat in his own game.. that elbow finished him.. i though belcher would dominate the stand up.. but nope..(guess that fight against kalib made him look alot better :D) day dominated this fight.. belcher didnt have a chance Log in to Reply JAZACKED April 22, 2008 Thanks for this post!!!! This site is awesome! Log in to Reply doug maps April 22, 2008 that was ****ing awesome, a lot better than some of the fights on main card Log in to Reply tonysnow April 22, 2008 Crusher beat me to it…..Belcher deserved that beatdown for weairng a skirt to an MMA match…..he probaly thought to himelf If i loose I’m going to look real funny ………definitely a bad choice of apparel Log in to Reply AJK07 April 22, 2008 The refing in canada sucks Log in to Reply Brandon April 22, 2008 I thought most thai kick boxers use that style of trunks , I also remember seeing Melvin Manhoef wearing that style and I’m sure he isn’t gay. Either way great fight for Day awesome work on the ground and the feet and he should poise considering it was his UFC debut. Log in to Reply MMABuff April 22, 2008 “The refing in Canada sucks.” – AJK07 lol @ that. Those are the same group of refs that work all the domestic promotions that the UFC, WEC, EliteXC, ect. That Canadian air really ****s with their heads. I don’t have any problem with that fight getting stopped when it did. Belcher was done. ______________________________________ That was an impressive showing for Day. He looked good with his rubber guard and the stand up was crisp as well. I’ll be looking forward to seeing him fight again. Log in to Reply No Name April 22, 2008 Nice call that guy was getting beat! Log in to Reply TriGGz April 22, 2008 wow AJK you are a tool its the same refs that ref in the US too….. I live about 3 hours away from lethbridge where jason day trains, great fight for him, look forward to seeing him some more he was very impressive! Log in to Reply GREENMACHINE April 22, 2008 The UFC provides the refs. It has nothing to do with the fact that it was in Canada. Log in to Reply KieranMac April 22, 2008 “I thought most thai kick boxers use that style of trunks , I also remember seeing Melvin Manhoef wearing that style and I’m sure he isn’t gay.” Brandon, true enough that many Muy Thai kickboxers wear that type of trunk, but they don’t make it bright green and frilly. When guys like Manhoef and Kevin Randleman wear it, it’s usually leather and at least attempts to look like the gladiator shorts that they’re modeled after. Belcher’s trunks looked like they were designed by a drunken gay leprechaun. Log in to Reply BakaSurvivor April 22, 2008 That was a ton of damage from the rubber guard. Hopefully Bisping gets either Cote or Day next. Day looked pretty solid in his ufc debut. Log in to Reply A April 23, 2008 I hate it when they stop the fights like this; they even made a mess out of the GSP Serra fight. Log in to Reply THAY GUY April 23, 2008 that was crazy. Great fight. Eddie Bravo should be proud! Log in to Reply Dogg April 23, 2008 Lets not get homophobic here. The trunks just looked shit! Nuff said! Log in to Reply WINDSOR MMA April 23, 2008 A what the **** are you talkin about Serra was gettgin owned on the ground and wasnt defending the knees to the body plus he looked up at the ref i bet he said im a little bitch stop it please!!!! Log in to Reply Drew April 23, 2008 Impressive performance by Day. He slides right in the mix with that win and replaces Starnes. Belcher just couldn’t get it going. He never seemed to recover from those blows inside Day’s guard. Log in to Reply c4 April 23, 2008 whats up with the new annoucer? Log in to Reply smack April 23, 2008 im gonna just start boycoting the ****ing ufc if they dont start letting there fights actually ****ing finish he was protecting himself he wasnt that hurt he was moving well WHY THE **** DID THEY STOP THE FIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Log in to Reply G Lowe April 23, 2008 Nice fight Jay. They should have put it on pay per view, for your Lethbridge fans. Good elbow work – great energy on the finish. Log in to Reply AuSteve April 24, 2008 good to see some standing elbows, dont see enuf of em. Log in to Reply Cazador April 24, 2008 SMACK – Yeah, I totally agree. I mean, it’s not like Belcher just took it straight for an entire round, and couldn’t even side-step to avoid the raining of punches. UFC will miss you and your sharp wit. AK up there…you too. Wow. Totally unreasonable. Let’s encourage these Refs to let people die in the ring, so that the sport can get demonized and banned outside of Asia. It’s tools like you guys that give fighting bad representation. We – as a culture – haven’t digressed into the Roman gladiator days just yet, but I’m sure someone will let you know when it’s time to do the ol’ thumbs-up/thumbs-down. Now, as for my response for the fight… Alan Belcher just learned a lesson in sportsmanship. He clearly let his head get too big after his win over Kalib Starnes. Hopefully, just hopefully – with this impressive TKO by Day – he’ll think twice before coming into the octagon with anything other than good training and respect for his opponents. And, as for the Ref’s decision…if it’ll keep fights coming (to Canada, and PPV from the UFC, without any sort of over-dramatized flak), I’ll gladly see a few end abruptly. Log in to Reply Jazzy Jessen SR April 24, 2008 Awesome fight Jay Day…wish it was live on PPV..big daddy Lee was pumped as were lots of people here at the Fort!! Keep up the great work and press forward all the way..all the best!!! Jazzy (the best v-ball coach you ever had!!) Log in to Reply Mike April 25, 2008 Good stoppage, Belcher was a sitting duck against the fench. He was getting tee’d off on without anything coming back in return. He was rocked with an elbow and it was down hill from there. Never saw any of Belcher’s previous fights but he looked like an amateur here. Log in to Reply LAZER212 April 25, 2008 Great standing elbows in the clinch, that was the begining of the end for Belcher. Log in to Reply Sarah May 15, 2008 That was ****ing awesome Jay Day wicked ground game definatly dominated that fight! Good luck in England Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
