That was absolutely amazing work on the ground by Jason Day. Belcher had to be sorry he ever got the take down. I have not seen someone so completely own from bottom position with strikes for a very long time.

Also… that is what you get for wearing the gay trunks. If you are going to wear that crap you better Fing bring it.

Day brought it big time, Belcher was completely outclassed on the ground. He got crushed in the one area of his game he’s supposed to dominate.

thats embrassing for belcher.. got beat in his own game.. that elbow finished him.. i though belcher would dominate the stand up.. but nope..(guess that fight against kalib made him look alot better :D) day dominated this fight.. belcher didnt have a chance

I thought most thai kick boxers use that style of trunks , I also remember seeing Melvin Manhoef wearing that style and I’m sure he isn’t gay.

Either way great fight for Day awesome work on the ground and the feet and he should poise considering it was his UFC debut.

lol @ that. Those are the same group of refs that work all the domestic promotions that the UFC, WEC, EliteXC, ect. That Canadian air really fucks with their heads.

I don’t have any problem with that fight getting stopped when it did. Belcher was done.

That was an impressive showing for Day. He looked good with his rubber guard and the stand up was crisp as well. I’ll be looking forward to seeing him fight again.

The UFC provides the refs. It has nothing to do with the fact that it was in Canada.

Brandon, true enough that many Muy Thai kickboxers wear that type of trunk, but they don’t make it bright green and frilly. When guys like Manhoef and Kevin Randleman wear it, it’s usually leather and at least attempts to look like the gladiator shorts that they’re modeled after.

Belcher’s trunks looked like they were designed by a drunken gay leprechaun.

Impressive performance by Day. He slides right in the mix with that win and replaces Starnes. Belcher just couldn’t get it going. He never seemed to recover from those blows inside Day’s guard.

SMACK - Yeah, I totally agree. I mean, it’s not like Belcher just took it straight for an entire round, and couldn’t even side-step to avoid the raining of punches. UFC will miss you and your sharp wit. AK up there…you too. Wow. Totally unreasonable. Let’s encourage these Refs to let people die in the ring, so that the sport can get demonized and banned outside of Asia. It’s tools like you guys that give fighting bad representation. We - as a culture - haven’t digressed into the Roman gladiator days just yet, but I’m sure someone will let you know when it’s time to do the ol’ thumbs-up/thumbs-down.

Now, as for my response for the fight…

Alan Belcher just learned a lesson in sportsmanship. He clearly let his head get too big after his win over Kalib Starnes. Hopefully, just hopefully - with this impressive TKO by Day - he’ll think twice before coming into the octagon with anything other than good training and respect for his opponents. And, as for the Ref’s decision…if it’ll keep fights coming (to Canada, and PPV from the UFC, without any sort of over-dramatized flak), I’ll gladly see a few end abruptly.

Good stoppage, Belcher was a sitting duck against the fench. He was getting tee’d off on without anything coming back in return. He was rocked with an elbow and it was down hill from there. Never saw any of Belcher’s previous fights but he looked like an amateur here.
