yea it was def early but i can see where the ref was comin from. i always hate refs letting a guy hit a guy whose knocked out already he just judged the situation wrong. does suck though cuz he seemed very able as he stood up right after bein kneed…

I agree this was an early stoppage, he did go down hard but he was already making an attempt to get back up. Ref’s have a very tough job though, far from the worst decision I’ve seen. Great flying knee though.

Late stoppage! The ref should’ve stopped this fight after that first overhand right wobbled Jared. He was clearly unconscious for at least a millionth of a second.

yeah

In case you missed it, that is sarcasm. What an idiot for a ref. Since when does “knock down” mean “knock out”? By the time Poai got to him, Jared had one hand out defending and one hand helping him stand back up. This is complete bullshit and if ever there was a reason to overturn a ref’s decision, this is the case for it. They should also kick the ref in the nuts.

UMMM good thing the ref stopped the fight! After that flying knee his lights went out for a second then Suganuma pounced on that guy like flies on shit. Even though the guy was getting up, if you look close the ref was between them, preventing Suganuma from destroying his face or jumping on his back for the choke. It was only a matter of seconds. Hamman was not really complaining to much was he??? He knew what the outcome would have been and plus he was DAZED and confused saying “WHAT HAPPEND, WHAT HAPPEND.” (Reminder), It does not hurt when u get knocked out that fast. And when u get up ur adrenaline is still pumping.. Same goes with Huston Alexander.. NOW THAT SUCKED!

After the knee to the head the ref already made up his mind that the fight was over. Farmboy put his hand up after the ref had already steped in…. Better they stop it then and have them fight again later.

WAY EARLY!! ref blew it. I hate how everyone keeps letting shit like this slide,….It should be a NC and a rematch. The guy was clearly fine

BlackBeltKarate Says, in 4-9-2008 at 18:09:39 from 74.13.87.156

ya know I dont think its controversial at all… he went LIMP and was out.. people dont realize that when yer knocked out like that and you start to come too yer moving around… doesn’t necessarily mean your “defending” yerself as much as you are fighting to survive… counsciousness is what they’re lookin for.. and think of this.. better safe then sorry… if he woulda let the fight go and got hurt say.. the ref would be the worst ref in the world.. and since we have the benefit of seeing it on video and from a diff wider angle.. it woulda been HARDER to judge that close up.. GOOD JOB REF..

I generally give refs a HUGE amount of leeway but I do think this was premature and it’s starting to become a problem. There really should be at least some kind of 1-second pause before a ref stops a fight except in the most obvious “lights out” cases. Maybe I didn’t see it but from my perspective Jared was never not defending himself.

Actrazor Says, in 4-9-2008 at 21:30:32 from 72.94.250.130

2 more seconds and it would have been a choke, but the ref should have let it go for that 2 seconds. Way too many early stopages lately (latest ufc fight night)

Early stoppage man, I mean yea Hamman got rocked but he was definitely gettin back up when tha Ref came in and stopped it, bad call on tha Ref i don’t care what anyone says, i saw what i saw and it was a horrible call.

KC Says, in 4-10-2008 at 00:09:22 from 70.70.139.89

The ref thought he was out cold, as he did quite clearly go limp after that flying knee, however, as has been mentioned, you could CLEARLY see that he was standing up and defending himself as soon as the other guy jumped on him. Ref’s bad..But what sucks more is when a guy who actually is knocked out gets 2-3 more solid punches to the face from the other guy jumping on him…then again the ref can only be so fast..

The way he fell down looked horrible and the Ref was looking out for the fighter so that he doesnt get killed, but being able to see the replays it was an early stoppage, and i dot say early stoppage often, also he was saying what happened because he meant why was it stopped because he was fine, he didnt say what happened because he was ko’ed like Chuck liddell did.Though, you shouldnt say “what happened” haha cause it makes it look like you may have been unconscious and maybe he was for a millisecond as he went to the mat. Anyways the dude was outclassed.

What is everyone looking for some poor guy getting his face smashed in. He was done regardless of if he was trying to stand up there was no way he was going to do anything else but get tapped or knocked out. But yes it was a little early.

What idiot said make it a NC and then rematch. You go train your A** for 2 months and a Ref stops the fight maybe a little early. See how you would feel if the Ref told you “sorry it didn’t count but you almost beat this kids a** my bad.”

Calm down testicl… I mean “coconut” eater, or “jimmy” or whatever your name is. No need to shout with all capitals. The guy was asking “what happened?” because he was wondering why in the world the ref stopped the fight. From his perspective he was knocked down, and started standing up and defending as soon as the other guy got to him. So he’s like, WTF?
A knockdown always involves some limpness… that is what causes the legs to go out and the body to fall down. That is why it is called a knockdown, dumbass. But a knockdown alone should never end any fight. The fight should end when one can no longer defend himself… Jared was never not defending himself against any attack. The ref is a piece of shit. And you are apparently 2 years old.

mygif
COCONUT EATER Says, in 4-11-2008 at 04:35:11 from 72.235.53.100

a knockout also involves some limpness.

he was asking “what happend” because he didn’t know that he was out.

all lower case letters just for you

“your apparently 2 years old” good one. you make that one up all by yourself?

Steamer Bean Says, in 4-11-2008 at 08:01:11 from 68.12.35.211

The only reason i would agree with the ref on this one is the dude clearly did not know what happened. Anyone ever seen the clip of that scrawny boxer that died in the ring? He looked just fine up to the second he dropped dead. That’s a really tough call, but rather the guy was “out” or not the fight was over.

mygif
MMA-Hole Says, in 4-11-2008 at 13:54:25 from 88.81.137.225

It was clearly an early stoppage and the ref was clearly out of position but I personally think it was worth it just so I could come on here and read Coconut Eater’s comments. That shit’s hilarous!

Seriously dude, chill out. Being an idiot won’t kill you but getting that upset can’t be good!

‘What happened?’ in this case clearly just shows he didn’t know why the ref stopped it. When kncoked out fighters ask that, it’s usually as they wake up on their backs.

mygif_alt
COCONUT EATER Says, in 4-12-2008 at 05:02:47 from 72.235.53.100

^^thats why i calmed down didn’t you notice the lower case letters? :) ^^

wouldn’t he be asking *why did you stop the fight, i’m fine* instead of “what happend”?

btw, i do this just to stir crap up so “seriously dude” do you really think i’m “that upset”?

MMA GIANT SILVA Says, in 4-12-2008 at 13:56:49 from 12.219.215.181

Terrible stoppage, why do the announcers always back the ref. Hamman was 10-0 give him chance to lose, dont just give him a lose thats shitty.

mygif_alt
Gltych Says, in 4-13-2008 at 22:09:01 from 97.115.7.141

The announcers are morons. Yeah he was hurt, but he was defending himself on the ground. Didn’t seem to be wobbly or anything as soon as he stood up after the stoppage. Should have let that one go…

mygif
Sean Wooldridge Says, in 4-14-2008 at 07:42:58 from 71.127.73.88

He shrimped and got his knee inside and then got up under his own power with both his opponent and the ref on top of him. That’s pretty impressive for a guy who is knocked out and unable to intelligently defend himself.

Is it just me, or have there been a lot of premature stoppages lately? You’ve got this one, Houston Alexander, Caro Parisian… I wonder if the commission is pushing to change the standard or something. Who knows? Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but there have seemed to be a lot of them lately. If you ask me, I say the commission should put a stop to that jumping stuff, cause I don’t like that jumping stuff!
