Very sloppy standup from Ellenberger. Good recovery by Kampmann.

mma Says, in 6-2-2012 at 00:49:10 from

f***** mazagatti does it again. give him a second to do something lol kampmann is a f***** beast tho glad he won. still couldnve let it go for a few more seconds

Dave Says, in 6-2-2012 at 00:53:16 from

WoW you could clearly see Ellenberger is a much stronger fighter but Kampmann has a big heart and fight his way to win it!

early stoppage by mazagatti. kampman was given time in the first round after getting knocked down and ellenberger got nothing

BamBam Says, in 6-2-2012 at 01:44:31 from

Martin is a TRUE WARRIOR!!!Hendricks next for him would be good!

miso-to-curry Says, in 6-2-2012 at 01:55:02 from

@john, ellenberger was clearly content with the stoppage ,so i think i would think it is a good call

oaklandblackouts Says, in 6-2-2012 at 01:59:15 from

i f***** love kampmann’s fighting style..he just proves time and time again that he can come back from taking damage and find a way to win

Sammy Says, in 6-2-2012 at 02:14:07 from

nobody has heart like Kampmann, what an absolute warrior

steamer Says, in 6-2-2012 at 02:56:32 from

I don’t really know how to respond man. Part of me says this was an early stop and a fixed fight. Part of me says I’ve been underestimating Martin Kampmann for years. The come back kid. Awesome fight either way. I’m thoroughly entertained! How deep can a man dig? It’s a sad masochtistic question. How many times can you ask yourself this question and be expected to respond with some heart. I mean…. let’s be honest here. How many times have you faced adversity in your personal life and thought about giving up? To see someone who dosen’t understand quit, who constantly fights and grows….I’m inspired.

warriorbjj Says, in 6-2-2012 at 03:16:17 from

Jake landed one huge punch in the first minute then sucked kampmanns dick the rest of the round. Ellenberger f***** sucks.

Freaklegion Says, in 6-2-2012 at 03:37:24 from

Heart is only going to get him so far, needs to take less punches to the face.

nice shot but yet another fight on this card stopped early. this one and the phantom tap on the prelims should have kept going.

Fantastic fight from start to knee. M.K is a sort of victory snatcher, he’s liked a lot around my household. Cheers

goodfight Says, in 6-2-2012 at 06:37:12 from

great fight, but fighters like Kampmann rarely become champ because they take too much damage..he’s exciting to watch and has a huge heart…plus his ground game is never boring b/cuz every second i’m like “he’s gonna lock up a guillotine!!”…but I think Johnny Hendricks is still too much for Kampmann…we’ll see hopefully

mk Says, in 6-2-2012 at 06:48:21 from

Kenny Florian was saying things like “he needs to pace himself” and “he’s getting a bit wild”… that’s the reason Kenny was a boring fighter and never got the title.

WhoCares Says, in 6-2-2012 at 07:23:22 from

Stop crying saying it was an early stoppage. The guy got smashed and was clearly out of it for 30 seconds after it ended. I am pleased with the outcome because Kampmann is an excellent fighter, not a stupid ass wrestler like Ellenberger.

Stranger Says, in 6-2-2012 at 07:52:14 from

good job by kampmann.

vaughnrich Says, in 6-2-2012 at 07:58:23 from

he turtled up pretty good after that 3rd knee. dare i say good stoppage by mazagatti lol

Maximumpain Says, in 6-2-2012 at 08:06:48 from

Another impressive comeback by Kampmann. Good fight.

dankarelli Says, in 6-2-2012 at 08:52:23 from

Say what you will Mazagatti got lucky because that stoppage COULD have been early- and almost was. Seriously why does this guy even ref anymore. He is total and utter garbage.

anyway it all started with that short R. hand. Couldnt see it until the reply from the other side. Ellenberger got stunned and then the knees finished the job. To bad neither of these guys will alst with GSP. Big gaps in talent within the 170 lbs division. If it’s not Condit or Diaz fighting GSP, there’s no one else truly worthy.

dankarelli Says, in 6-2-2012 at 08:52:53 from

tobes Says, in 6-2-2012 at 09:00:25 from

i still wish mazagatti let kampmann finish it more decisively because now there are questions. i just rewatched the fight… there was a moment in the first not initially after the knockdown but a second later when ellenberger was raining down punches that he could have stopped it and most people would have agreed it was legit. Kampmann is the real comeback kid.

killer knees!!!
it was a good stoppage

ironfist Says, in 6-2-2012 at 10:07:11 from

It was an ok stoppage dude was to busy holdin his face than protecting himself so it’s his own damn fault plus the chicken dance he did before the knees was pricless. when Kampman got hurt was at least tryin to grab the guy. Good win for kampman he’s the man

Crocography Says, in 6-2-2012 at 11:15:09 from

Stoppage was good, Mazagatti got it right. We can all see that from the video, Ellenberger cannot complain he was completely turtled and not defending himself. I just do not see the controversy in this particular fight.

perulives Says, in 6-2-2012 at 11:22:28 from

Kampmann is top 5 in the WW division. His losses were total bullshit i.e. Diego Sanchez. I want to call early stoppage on this one but it looked like when Ellenberger dropped, he stayed down.

Reallynow? Says, in 6-2-2012 at 11:51:23 from

That’s because Jake didn’t get knocked down, he got knocked out. Watch the f***** reply. His forearms are over his face and until martin comes down on him he doesnt even react and he couldnt even grab onto Martin. He got hit solid. Watch the side replay, dude was out and it was seen. Jake’s own fault. He was already gassing.

bobbylee Says, in 6-2-2012 at 12:09:42 from

wow kammpman is finally starting to live up to the potential this guy is close to a title shot i wish he would have more grappling strategies though he seems to take a lot of abuse in his fights i bet his top game on the ground would get easy victories if he could get it there

evilevil Says, in 6-2-2012 at 12:57:59 from

Ellenbeger, got his nose broken on the last knee, if anyone thinks its an early stoppage,

go back and watch, Jake holding his nose, as the fight is stopped..

He was done,, sorry

dondaddad Says, in 6-2-2012 at 13:28:20 from

how can anyone compare ellenburger getting dropped to kampmann? When kampmann got tagged he immediatly regained his witts and fought for submissions. ellenburger was still laying on the ground covering up even after the ref stepped in for 5 seconds..kampmann won fair and square. kampmann has shown his ability to take punches just look at the daly and marquardt fights. got rocked over and over again and was still standing

flyingfish420 Says, in 6-2-2012 at 13:43:46 from

@ ironfist…I agree with you 100% when Kampmann got dropped he went straight back to work and tied
Ellenberger up rather quickly and composed himself , where as Ellenberger got dropped and started grabbing his nose and not defending himself. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

ThatDude Says, in 6-2-2012 at 15:17:02 from

You can NEVER count Martin Campman out, I think the ref should have let it go on for a little bit longer. He did for Campman… Just sayin. Over all it was a Great fight

mmafan Says, in 6-2-2012 at 15:26:24 from

I say early stoppage, it had to be Mazzagati with the bullshit again. glad Kampmann won though

Title shot kampmann beats condition wheres gsp ellenberger vs Hendricks
That’s seems about right

Drew Says, in 6-2-2012 at 20:25:51 from

Kampmann has been smashed by Marquardt and Daley in the first round. He’s been dropped by Alves and Ellenberger and almost finished. He had two knock-down-drag-it-out fights where he look a lot of damage against Condit and Sanchez. I just don’t see a guy who leaves himself open to such abuse becoming or staying champ. Hendricks is going to knock him out.

jballer Says, in 6-2-2012 at 20:41:13 from

I didn’t like ellenberger’s body language during and after the fight. after the fight, he looked very disappointed as one would expect, but he looked like a real sore loser.

he was grabbing his nose immediately, i thought he might’ve had an issue, those knees were beautiful. anyway, excellent performance for kampmann. hendricks-kampmann is going to be a good one.

mangjose Says, in 6-3-2012 at 01:49:21 from

kampann, diego snachez, condit, frankie edgar those guys are true warrior they do have a big heart!!! nice win for kamp.. sorry for me i bet $300 to jake WTF!!!!

mangjose Says, in 6-3-2012 at 01:54:39 from

cant wait to see a rematch between kampann and condit that would be great!!!

jches Says, in 6-3-2012 at 02:00:42 from

No controversy here at all. Stoppage was the correct call. Put Kampmann up against Hendricks and give the winner a title shot.

champ Says, in 6-3-2012 at 02:17:08 from

Just because ellenburger is stronger doesnt make him the better fighter. Like alot of kampmanns fights he stands with bigger guys, gets clipped and eventually beats them with technique. I call that the stronger fighter.

FailSonnen Says, in 6-3-2012 at 04:52:06 from

Early stoppage you f@gs

darby Says, in 6-3-2012 at 07:06:30 from

i cant believe people are saying early stoppage. it maybe because Mazagatti was quick to get in there but Ellenberger didnt get up after it was stopped or fight the call. he knew he was done

metallicafan Says, in 6-3-2012 at 17:42:25 from

shoulda let martin finish him off so that people wouldnt bitch and complain about the stoppage. id take a slightly late stoppage over an early onr any day. im sure the fighters would too
