it almost looked like something was wrong with Houston, thats not the same guy from the first to fights, Nice job to Thiago for that win, I’ll like to see Thiago vs. Griffin..

Lol, wow I knew the second Houston went for the clinch game that it was over. In just seconds he went from dominant position to getting completely annihilated.

The big question is what does he do from here. Will the UFC keep him just because he’s an interesting fighter and has good knockout power? My guess is he’ll be around for two more and they’ll both be losses because his opponents will take total advantage of his weaknesses.

what kind of stopage was that? houstan wasn’t even out. or dazed for that matter. 2 of the last 5 punches even landed. bad reffing imo. the ref shouldn’t call it unless the guy is out or really dazed.

hmmm I noticed Houston’s ground game is miserable. however, what happened top all that trading Thiago said he was going to do against Houston?hmm the entire card was alot of ground n pound. It sucked.. I wasnt up for watching the subtleties of ground games I came to watch a nice striking war.

This was revealing. I too was on the Alexander “HYPE”! This shows the real aspect of MMA. This is what I worry about with “KIMBO”! See most are scared to fight a “K.O” specialist (who has a mean character). Scary face and deadly hands effects 90% of opponents confidence! This leads to inaccurate execution and implementation of there true fighting ability. They’re nervous, uneasy and reserved in most cases. The best of fighters can be influenced with the right opponent! Thiago Silva was not impressed or “shook-up” at all! This lead to great patient and precise execution. Mounted and beat his skull! If a fighter can keep his mental game sharp and his emotions from being affected, true skill is shown. That is what happened here! YOU CAN BE A BRICK-HANDED, PENITENTIARY RAISED MONSTER, but if you can not handle the mount n’ pound on the ground… GAME OVER!!!!

Larry, Houston got robbed? Get real man, nobody is in a fight when they are on their back with their arms out like they’re being crucified and eating 6 - 7 shots on the button, he most certainly was knocked right out!

mygif
JohnNo Gravatar Says, in 11-24-2007 at 14:43:12 from 67.10.108.207

Houston got DESTROYED! He does have an awesome stand up, with great power, but he just got pounded out because he has NO GROUND GAME. AND YES HE WAS OUT, HIS ARMS WENT LIMP, AND RIGHT BEFORE THE STOP, THIAGO LANDED LIKE 2 MORE ON THE CHIN! DONE.

punisherNo Gravatar Says, in 12-17-2007 at 04:17:26 from 131.6.84.67

Houston showed he has to work on his overall game, he has dynamite hands but not much else. Reminds me of the early UFC, when Royce Gracie used to totally own those guys who had no concept of ground fighting or ground fighting defense. Thiago Silva made Houston his bitch and looking like a total beginner ala GSP vs Frank Trigg.

I think that’s exactly what would’ve happened to Floyd Mayweather if he stepped into the Octagon. I say this because watching Houston’s previous fights, you’d swear he’d only trained boxing. He’s a candidate to go the WEC for more seasoning, he’d be a good match up Brian Stann another guy with good striking and TKO power.

P.NisNo Gravatar Says, in 1-15-2008 at 21:40:48 from 90.46.44.68

Houston said after the fight ‘I didn’t say stop’. Lol is he stupid or something? If Thiago had kept landing punches he would’ve ended up in a coma.

DJNo Gravatar Says, in 1-21-2008 at 03:19:00 from 72.91.206.27

I like what Houston stands for, being a stand-up single father and everything, but he acts like a thug. The way he acted when he knocked Jardine out was straight ghetto, standing over him and yelling.
It was from that moment on, I wanted to see him get flattened. Now that he realizes he’s not the baddest man on the planet, and is basically a bitch to many a seasoned MMA fighter, I hope he finds some class and humility. Then again, maybe not. He was still acting like a ghetto thug even after he got his ass handed to him.
I really want to see him do good, if he can change that roided-up ape attitude, I think he’d be a good role model. Good luck Houston, seriously.

PS - To you dipshits who say he was robbed, there really is no point in arguing with you. You clearly have no clue. He was straight KTFO and would have ended up on a stretcher if the fight continued.

houston has no ground game at all he doesn’t know how to deffend himself on the ground , some one going to teach him the grond game sooner or later and silva did just that.

DoggNo Gravatar Says, in 2-5-2008 at 13:02:06 from 82.27.192.84

Houston is exciting to watch and hopefully he fights again soon and sticks to what he’s best at, pure power! In the other UFC fights he went out and did the business in this one he seemed to be conserving his energy. Not taking anything away from Thiago, the man is really good. And yes I believe Houston was KTFO. Good stoppage by the ref!

Those heavy hands can be cumbersome when you try to throw them from the back while mounted. Like everybody else already said, he’ll always be dangerous on his feet, but won’t ever be top-tier without groundgame.

And I agree, good stoppage. He wasn’t defending himself, and wasn’t going to. I don’t want to see guys continue to get pounded after they have gone senseless.
