![]() | UFC Fight Night 15 video of Houston Alexander Vs. Eric Schafer. |
Thanks for posting so quickly Bruno.
Alexander is a Badass but once again his lack of technical skill is exposed. Hats off to Schaefer for hanging tough during the initial onslaught. Classic Brawler vs. Grappler fight. Good Times.
Damnit. Unfortunately this will be his last fight in the UFC.
Houston Alexander is poop!
Yeah, I think the One Punch Wonder(Houston) needs to find something else to do.
Bruno is the man!
Quality performance by Schafer. He took some big shots, but perservered and got it to the ground. Good to see people exposing Houston’s ground game as a joke.
How do you get to the UFC and have 0 ground game
Terrible job houston, you lost it on purpose.
with 10 seconds…very nice
As MMAMafia mentioned
Thanks for the quick post.
Will A.H. receive the boot for three straight failures within one year or will the UFC keep him around b/c of his popularity?
Anyone else think the initial knees were illegal?
4:45 Remaining
Hit body then chin, Head goes flying up
Right knee on ground
Left knee inches from the ground
4:45 Remaining
Left leg standing
Right knee on ground
Right before 2:28 of RuTUbe, you see both of Schafer’s knees inches above the ground(falling) but I believe it’s a result of the second knee to the initial position mentioned above
THANKS for getting this up so fast…
awesome fight damn he got r**** prison style on the ground
ufc has alot of shitty fighters that are made out to be like “the best fighters in the world”. some good ones too but, alot of shitty fighters that could probobly lose against some undercard ams.
pathetic performance by alexander, it looked like he gassed after he threw the two knees.
he needs to work his ground game and his cardio, props to schafer though for eating up those big shots.
you’d think this idiot would learn a freakin ground game after silva… omg……
he’s not fit for ufc..
That was the weakest setup I’ve ever seen – choreographed to a T SO homie should’ve seen it coming … houston has no f–kin ground game whatsoever
He’ll be back….and with VENGEANCE!!!!!!~
LOVED the mock salute/screwy face that Schafer gave after the tap. Crowd didn’t like that at all.
If you’ve got zero ground game, you don’t belong in the UFC. This has been known since …what? UFC 8-ish?
I agree with “Yo”, those two knees early on looked illegal to me.
I also noticed half way through the round that he cheated once again by grabbing a handful of Eric’s shorts. Fortunately the ref noticed the cheating that time around and warned him…
Houston from what I heard re upped his contract before his Irvin fight so he should be around for another fight or two…
Let Jardine get his revenge match then throw the bum out!
roflmao houston lost
Schafer ate 2 HUGE knees at the start and i honestly thought he was done (expected houston just to overwhelm him with punches and TKO him, but he gassed and ruined it all)
but man, Schafer obviously has great chin and heart
deserved victory
Great job by Schafer! He took some punishment but pulled through. Yes, there was one illegal knee that was not called the first one was to his chest so it was legal but the second was not. Houston had to have seen that arm triagle coming, anytime a guy crosses our arm over he is looking for an arm triangle.
I was really pulling for Houston and he almost finished the fight but once again his ground game is non-existent: he needs to either switch camps or quit.
he’s done in the ufc.
I agree the second knee was illegal but was impressed how Schafer took the punishmnt early on. What I found totally dumb founded was HA getting up off Schafer at ~4:15 to fix his shorts. He had a completely dominate position. And if I remember collectly didn’t Schafer lose to both Bisping and Bonner from the ground and pound.
I still can’t believe eric got houston down even with his weak take down attempts. Just goes to show you how crappy his ground game is.
If he isn’t dropped from the UFC after this, he should work on nothing but a ground game. His stand-up is awesome, but just getting him on the ground seems to end his night. Work on nothing but sweeps and sprawling and just getting off the ground.
As for the illegal knees, yeah, there were one or two, but I think if they would have stopped the fight or even paused it, they would have gotten lynched by the hometown crowd.
BJJ is the s***!!!
Houston will definitely be back in the UFC. He lost, but his fights are always exciting. Schafer did an excellent job weathering the early storm and deserved the win.
JUST PUT IT THIS WAY. . ALEXANDER HAVEN”T LEARNED s***. and say good bye..cause he’s done in the ufc.
Awesome fight! I thought the striker would win, but the grappler comes out on top.
Alexander signed a 5 fight contract right before this, so he is not going anywhere.
Also that was an awesome head arm choke!
Alexander is the most overrated fighter in the sport.
He had two good ko’s as he obviously is strong and throws hard shots, but that’s all he has. I don’t think he has a long enough record to even say he’s a good striker, he’s a hard hitter. He has been knocked out by two better strikers, Irvin and Silva. Silva of course hammered him out on the ground though.
Nevertheless, the only reason he’ll be around is because the UFC knows he’s popular with the fans. How else does Brock Lesnar get a title shot with a 1 and 1 record in the UFC?
houston should train bjj for 1 yr 4 hours a day and just freakin’ run for 2 hours that would get his ground game and cardio up a couple of notches..he’s striking goes on ghetto mode during fights..have you watched the after he lost to irvin..he fought in a local show and he was on the ground mounted..but they were almost out of the ring and when the ref made them go to the middle and continue with the same position houston declined he got dq for that crap..so sad..
i think houston gassed because he is cutting to much weight. he either needs to either stop body building and cut some bulk or maybe move to heavyweight. i suspect that the same thing happened to sokujou when he fought machida.
houston would be a scary dude in a barfight or against untrained people. But maybe he should be a boxer, cuz he has no ground skills.his stand up is fierce because hes so powerfull, but it isnt enough, considering that he lost 3 fights.4get these crappy fiters,i want to see bj penn fite gsp again, whatever happened to that fite anyways?
Arm triangle=most underutilized move in MMA…I mean, until now:)
it’s a shame alexander is 37… if he learned the ground game earlier in life he would be a real force to be reckoned with… still an exciting fighter with the ko factor.. i’d rather watch him give it all, then most of the lay and pray american fighters
Who cares if HA learns a ground game have you guys forgotten his glass jaw if he doesn’t get submitted then he will get knock out.
alexander goes for the kill, all out and furious but blew his energy. I bet most of you who say “huston sucks” thought schaffer was going to lose in that fight at one point. he was getting pounded on and all his shots were getting stuffed. the whole fight changed after the first take down!
Houston = one dimentional. All he can do is throw vicious punches and knees for about 60 seconds and if that doesn’t work, he gases and his opponent either touches his glass chin or beats him to a pulp on the ground. Extremely overrated. I bet the UFC brings him back for another fight on the under card because even though he sucks at MMA, many fans still want to see him.
Houston has no ground game, and Schafer has no stand up- what a crap fight.
Wow…first time I got to see this fight…Houston’s officially out the UFC. I know Red’s a legit BJJ black belt, but come on. Houston looked like he hadn’t trained ground at all since his loss to Thiago Silva. I’ve seen guys with 6 months of part time BJJ training with better ground defense.
Sorry Alexander, but having no ground game at that level makes you a can. He really should have worked something out between the Thaigo fight and now.
I thought hurricane Ike dominated Houston pretty bad, but that was worse.
