The scoring in the US under the ridiculous Unified Rules is just insane. A new system is needed urgently. Log in to Reply SEAN_VANCE July 22, 2012 @KungFuLowKick he didnt do shit, and Im not defending Lomabrd he sucked too, but the BArbarian turned into a total bitch and Lombard was running on a single AAA battery….and still landed more significant shots and actually hurt Tim…either way both of these guys need to go to the bottom of the latter, total shit fight Log in to Reply skifri3 July 22, 2012 I don’t understand MMA-fans who complain about “too many fights”. Without fights, the only way fighters actually move up and down the ladder is via hype-machine. If a card sucks, just read the results later. I love football, but there’s no way I can sit through every NFL game. The idea of cutting down on events to stack cards is bad for everyone, especially the fighters. Log in to Reply JJ July 22, 2012 complete bs. There is a difference between underdelivering and losing a fight. Boetch didn’t even hit him once properly and got hurt a couple times, taken down etc. It was all just a few and far between, but give me a break. There was no doubt that Lombard won it 3-0. It was like showing that Boetch is so clueless that to beat him he doesn’t even need to sweat. That’s bad attitude towards fans and his opponent, and of course UFC, but it doesn’t automatically mean that he lost the fight. Becasue there is no way in the world he lost it. Boetch didn’t score shit – null. He was backing of and getting smacked or taken down from time to time – that all. Lombard looked like he didn’t even have to bother to beat Boetsch and now this guy will maybe fight AS? nonsense Log in to Reply Nexstory July 23, 2012 Lombard could have easily won the fight had he used speed and agility in addition to his power. I don’t get it. He lost in my book for not trying. Log in to Reply Vincanni July 23, 2012 I had it 30-27 Lombard, albeit narrowly and unimpressive. Log in to Reply psxdogg July 23, 2012 Wow I can’t believe you uneducated morons. Lombard had the perfect strategy to beat Boetsch and he did! Lombard BARELY GOT HIT and he obviously knew what he was doing. One does not stay like that in front of an opponent unless he knew what he was doing. He CLEARLY KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING! I think @Nexstory was one of the judges Log in to Reply psxdogg July 23, 2012 When Bruce said one of the judges scored the fight 29-28 for Boetsch I was like **** NO! What fight were the judges watching? Obviously not the Lombard-Boetsch fight because IT CAN’T BE 29-28! They were not even close rounds at all Log in to Reply ETK July 23, 2012 I think the comment by JJ might be correct. I didn’t realize it. Maybe Lombard fought that way to intentionally show disregard for Boetsch, by walking straight up to Boetsch and stopping and standing in front of Boetsch. Maybe Lombard was making a sort of statement. Log in to Reply King July 23, 2012 wow this was sad and we have blind judges Log in to Reply t-berra29 July 23, 2012 WTF lombard. Wat kind of performance was that. i was expecting some fireworks for this fight but all i got was lombard being a bum looking all slow. and people actually thought that this guy could take out the Spider hell naw. Log in to Reply Wilbur July 23, 2012 Based on this fight, even Lombard and Boetsch together couldn’t take out Silva. Log in to Reply kbf July 23, 2012 This fight looked Fixed. Log in to Reply NotVinnieJones July 23, 2012 @psxdogg if his plan WAS perfect he would have not have left it to the judges, now, would he? But his gameplan for the most part of simply standing motionless to the point of having the whole arena booing his performance and being basically unimpressive to the point of losing the decision would be by definition be imperfect, or more accurately: flawed. Even he himself said it wasn’t his best performance. So even he would disagree with your analysis that his strategy was “perfect”. Everyone knows by now that in the UFC that its all about wowing the judges and winning over the crowd. Lombard did neither and instead played it safe. Thats how he wanted it, and thats what he got, which cost him the decision. Case closed. Log in to Reply This isn't hype July 23, 2012 greatest fight in UFC history! Log in to Reply Nexstory July 23, 2012 This fight wasn’t about Lombard standing in front of Boetsch and not getting hit as his perfect strategy. This fight was about Lombard making a major statement to Dana, the media and the fans that he is the baddest dude coming after Silva’s belt and throne. Bottom line is win, lose or draw, he blew it coming out of the gate. Blame goes to his coaches. The man did not perform. Log in to Reply anderson cheats July 24, 2012 Boetch hurt his foot in the first round, and Hector still couldnt beat him. Log in to Reply mmafan July 24, 2012 thats why I keep saying the scoring system is stupid. When there is no clear winner, the fight should be a draw, period. Wins should be earned, not obtained just because the current system likes to award someone with a win. When both fighters do not do anything, I would be in favor of giving them both a loss, when both fighters put on a great performance but are even, they could get both a win. Log in to Reply rickjames July 25, 2012 Boetch LOST! WTF?? Man what a rip off! Lombard clearly won!! Log in to Reply Twana July 25, 2012 ufc is a joke with these kinds of matches..
