Don’t know why everyone is so outraged by the result. Granted the fight was pretty close but usually when fights are that close the judges look at who was the more aggressive fighter. In this instance Lombard just stood there throughout the majority of the fight. Didn’t engage, wasn’t aggressive…he deserved to lose.

Wow. I liked Tim in this fight, but he didn’t win. Don’t like Hector but he he did win the fight…seen worse decisions as it was a boring, ugly, fight but the wrong hand was raised none-the-less.

I hate when people complain about decisions like this. Neither deserved to win. They both did NOTHING. When 2 fighters barely do anything, it’s hard to pick a winner. I’m very disappointed in Lombard and it seemed like Boestch did slightly more and got the win. If it went the other way I wouldn’t care because they both looked pitiful.

Lombard took tim (an accomplished wrestler) down in every round and landed several strikes a couple of which rocked Tim and had him moving backwards.
Yes it was a boring fight (in fact the whole card was boring) but clearly Lombard did waaaaay more to win.
The judging in MMA is the worst in sports and you fans who think Tim won are the worst fans as well

Lombard landed more significant head strikes that did damage, he landed that kick to the liver which did a lot of damage and he scored that massive takedown….meanwhile Tim danced a lot.

i guess this was a close enough fight to give it to the white man…. forrest griffin vs rampage style. not anywhere near the worst judging but I had hector easily winning 2 rounds. time for hector to fight munoz like he wanted then bitchbing and if he can clean those two up his title shot is still there. lame fight not just a lame decision.

A couple of things, 1 hector won the fight. Tim didnt hurt him and he ran so hector was inactive but he landed more shots and did more damage. 2 i miss pride so much!!!!!! Anyone remember when rampage got that yellow card and ko the other guy in like 5 seconds. Hector is 3x better then this guy and it was very clear tim isnt at his level.

Boetsch threw nothing of danger the entire fight, definitely took more damage. Lombard looked lifeless but landed the heavier, more effective strikes.

like others said, he threw the fight to get munoz. Tim was open to much and getting clipped but hector never jumped on it because he really wants munoz. he said he wanted munoz next no matter what. he did not unload and blitz like he usually does or tim would have gone to sleep. hector knows he could make it to the top but sacrficed his debut to get munoz. just wait until he fight mark and the “shango” will come out.

Boetsch won. I was not expecting that type of action at all. I thought it would be Hector winning by stampede, or Tim winning on the defense/comeback – not that. I hope they’re both taken out of the title picture and that Weidman gets Silva or the winner of Stann v Bisping for contendership.

Without fights, the only way fighters actually move up and down the ladder is via hype-machine.
If a card sucks, just read the results later. I love football, but there’s no way I can sit through every NFL game. The idea of cutting down on events to stack cards is bad for everyone, especially the fighters.

complete bs. There is a difference between underdelivering and losing a fight. Boetch didn’t even hit him once properly and got hurt a couple times, taken down etc. It was all just a few and far between, but give me a break. There was no doubt that Lombard won it 3-0. It was like showing that Boetch is so clueless that to beat him he doesn’t even need to sweat. That’s bad attitude towards fans and his opponent, and of course UFC, but it doesn’t automatically mean that he lost the fight. Becasue there is no way in the world he lost it. @psxdogg if his plan WAS perfect he would have not have left it to the judges, now, would he? But his gameplan for the most part of simply standing motionless to the point of having the whole arena booing his performance and being basically unimpressive to the point of losing the decision would be by definition be imperfect, or more accurately: flawed. Even he himself said it wasn’t his best performance. So even he would disagree with your analysis that his strategy was “perfect”. Everyone knows by now that in the UFC that its all about wowing the judges and winning over the crowd. Lombard did neither and instead played it safe. Thats how he wanted it, and thats what he got, which cost him the decision. Case closed.

This fight wasn’t about Lombard standing in front of Boetsch and not getting hit as his perfect strategy. This fight was about Lombard making a major statement to Dana, the media and the fans that he is the baddest dude coming after Silva’s belt and throne.
Bottom line is win, lose or draw, he blew it coming out of the gate. Blame goes to his coaches. The man did not perform.

thats why I keep saying the scoring system is stupid. When there is no clear winner, the fight should be a draw, period. Wins should be earned, not obtained just because the current system likes to award someone with a win. When both fighters do not do anything, I would be in favor of giving them both a loss, when both fighters put on a great performance but are even, they could get both a win.
