I can hear every foot step sounds like they are walking straight onto wooden planks, and the head slam too. If there are regulations, then I think this is not up to specs. Log in to Reply ETK June 24, 2013 The sound could be the underside of the planks banging against metal scaffolding. But the surface of the mat looks like leather wrapped around wood with a thin layer of gauze between. Log in to Reply KungFuLowKick June 24, 2013 @ETK You’re right. It looks like they just put a mat on some wood and thought it would be ok.The mats look soft and cheap too.Every step they make leaves a mark on the mat. It wasn’t the back of his head like the Carlos Newton KO it’s his neck pushes backwards with such force. I could totally see this breaking a fighters neck. Log in to Reply xformat June 24, 2013 As Mike Tyson would say, “Spinal”. Ouch. Log in to Reply mystiso June 24, 2013 If you don’t know how to deal with takedowns, then you shouldnt get in the cage. This was not even a devasting, inherently dangerous takedown – the guy just didn’t know what the f’ he was doing. You risk your own life if you aren’t prepared to deal with basic combat-sport techniques, in other words keep your neck straight up when being taken down. Hate to sound unsympathetic, but tough love. Log in to Reply Lou June 25, 2013 Sanctioned by the Morons Athletic Commision,go figure!!! Log in to Reply B-Real June 25, 2013 Dang man, that’s the risk you take. Hope he’s alright. Log in to Reply baller June 25, 2013 Dats how people get paralized Log in to Reply greengiant June 25, 2013 I think maybe it was his spine getting tweaked that made him pass out. Log in to Reply Balls deep June 25, 2013 More people should use this technique Log in to Reply Jo June 26, 2013 All the different variations of ‘these guys suck’ and ‘get better or do not fight’ are just silly. Go see an amateur show. Guys can train for years and still look like that. Also TONS of guys have been ko’d by slams, even self KO by slam. They are always scary looking. Longtime pros do it and have it done to them. Also I bet you that guy had been taken down in practice hundreds of times, but when you get out there your mind and nerves turn you into a complete newb. You just never know what you are going to get. Got into a parking lot brawl recently and threw the biggest stupidest looping haymakers you’ve ever seen. Threw myself all over the lot wiffing so hard I even punched the ground on one overhand right. And I’ve been boxing off and on since 2005. Luckily when it clinched up my better instincts took over. Next time I’ll clinch up first, lol. Log in to Reply Facefrack June 26, 2013 Man, I hope that guy’s alright! That was a really awkward throw by a guy who probably didn’t really know what he was doing. I wouldn’t have called that spiking, but that is exactly why spiking is illegal in the UFC. Someone could really get killed like that. Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
