Was aoki saved by the groin strike? Personally I think it would have made no difference as he was more hurt by the kick to the head. Ref shoulda stayed out.

Clearly the kick to the nads made Aoki drop his hands further and bend at the knees. That groin kick is why the head kick even landed.

Some paranoid people thought this fight was fixed.
How could that be fixed?
Aoki had a secret arm bar technique that he didn’t know about so he thought he was safe when he really wasn’t. If you watch the fight again you will see him saying that he is ok. 5 seconds later he is tapping out to aoki.

If you hold someones feet at your groin, your bound to get it. Funny, he never held his groin after any of that. Just his head. It all looked legit to me from every angle. He did take a second up kick after one knee was down.

I would love to see another camera angle. Hasen’s R foot kicked him. And i thought it was just under and to the side of the groin. After this he never grabbed his balls. only his face.

1st off Aoki was dropping after the 1st kick to the groin and fell into the kick to the head, and the 3rd kick was behind the head, it was accedental, but Aoki just ate a kick to the nuts, the face and the back of the head in less then 2 seconds, sucks to be him, good call by the ref. and amazing how he still pulls off a win when most fighters like Thales Leitus use it as an excuse for shitty performances

and btw the shot on the nuts doesn’t have to hit cleanly to drop a guy from it, anybody saying that the shot looks fine needs to get hansens balls out of there mouths, its right there infront of you, Aoki gets kicked in the groin area, and collapses into a head kick, followed by a kick to the back of the head, anybody saying Hansen deserves a win off of that really needs to get over Pearl Harbor.

When I first saw this I thought Aoki was hurt and acting it up to get time to recover, especially due to his emotional ko loss to Hansen earlier. From this angle you can clearly tell his balls were nailed and that lowered his head to within range of a very good upkick.

I don’t know what I just saw in the gif..but I laughed my ass off at the ref’s expression as he’s getting kicked in the head..I’m guessing the ref is pretty surprised the guy went for the head kick after hooking him in the nuts like that.

the real question is…WTF was the ref doing? standing there watching. He was all over Hansen for back of the head, grabbing the ropes etc…but watched Aoki get groin kicked he stands there…he should have been stopping it before the head kicks, or at least on his way. he was stunned…you fight till the ref says stop…

That ref is an idiot!! Was the Ref day-dreaming. That should be halted or at least a break given to the fighter for reovery immediate after the groin kick.
