HomeFighter Talk GSP Not Sounding Like He Wants To Fight Anderson Silva Bruno November 20, 2012 Fighter Talk 44 Comments Georges St-Pierre spoke with Inside MMA’s Ron Kruck after his win over Carlos Condit at UFC 154. GSP says he may fight Silva depending on one key factor. Log in to Reply fire November 20, 2012 GSP just said it depends on the weight class. Silva’s camp probably wants him to move up to 185. And If Dana throws enough money on the table, I’m sure it’ll happen one way or another. Log in to Reply kbrew007 November 20, 2012 Man he looks like sh@t!!!! Log in to Reply shocktime November 20, 2012 I like GSP warm up when he got inside the cage. He did all kinds of powerful explosive plyo jumps, squats, and crazy cartwheels. It was like he was tryna Show Condit dude go for the knee if you want, but ur wasting ur time cuz its 100%. Log in to Reply ibunn November 20, 2012 Im all for super fights but its no surprise gsp dosent seem interested in fighting silva, silva is waaaaay bigger than gsp. silva fights light heavyweights and fits right in no prob. How small would gsp look against a light heavyweight? Thats what he would look like against silva Log in to Reply kung fu k9 November 20, 2012 gsp looks like he was in an automobile accident… Log in to Reply shitface November 20, 2012 GSP vs Hendricks Fitch vs Diaz than winners face off. Log in to Reply Dharmaboy November 20, 2012 Silva is scared of Jones, at the same time Jones has no interest in fighting Silva. Log in to Reply Joe Dog November 20, 2012 I’d rather see Silva fight real MWs for the title. Log in to Reply marvelous mad madam mim November 20, 2012 damn if punebagger forrest condit did that to GSP just imagine what spider silva will do. gsp will look like “violet you’re turning violet violet!” Log in to Reply ramrod November 20, 2012 he looks like uncle fester all beat up .. but dang cant wait to see what unfolds .. (meaning) whatever UFC brass is gonna make the most money that’s the fight they will put on Log in to Reply INANEBIGNATE November 20, 2012 dang that interviewer was kinda annoying. I really would like to see jones vs silva instead of gsp vs silva. What most ppl dont understand is that the size difference (by this I mean weight difference bc its weight classes not height or reach classes) is alot more difference between jones and silva than gsp and silva. The heaviest gsp has been for a fight is 192lbs (his camp said this is how much he weighted on fight day a couple hours before the fight). anderson silva walks around at about 220 but that is bc he puts on fat so that weight means absolutely nothing. his last fight at 185 his trainers said he came into the cage weighing 198. thats only 6 pound difference from gsp weight. Also we have seen anderson come in underweight at 185 several times at like 182. when silva fought bonnar he came in at 202 and likely did not cut much or any water weight. Jones comes into the cage weighing about 225. Log in to Reply WTFson November 21, 2012 He doesn’t look like a guy who humped his opponent. Good to know he acknowledges Anderson Silva used to weigh 168, ahh around his late 20’s..11-12 years ago GSP, how long is long? Put your dukes up and fight 175 you could do it and so can Anderson. Log in to Reply dankarelli November 21, 2012 It’s simply a matter of GSP changing his entire career and moving up a weight class which he’s not sure he wants to do and I dont blame him. Silva’s natural walking around weight is 215. Why would a person move up a weight class when they are clearly smaller than everyone else who cuts 20-30 lbs? He’s thinking long term, not just about Anderson. If anderson is calling out GSP, why the F doesn’t HE move DOWN!?!?! it’s ridiculous to call someone out for a fight and then ask them to move up. He should MOVE DOWN, and if he can’t make the cut then Silva needs to STFU. Log in to Reply dankarelli November 21, 2012 I’d much rather see GSP fight Diaz seeing as how 1 trick pony Hendricks ain’t gonna land those Heavy Hands at all against GSP. The minute hendricks plants that foot to throw a punch, GSP will plant his ass on the canvas – and if you dont believe that what the heel have you been watching for the past 7-8 years???? Log in to Reply Lloyd November 21, 2012 I think George is a lil’ scared of Silva Log in to Reply straightAhead November 21, 2012 If condit did that to GSPs face then he is phuked against Silva. GSP is not known for finishing people on the ground and Silva has the best grappling defense in the world. GSP will get finished by round 3 via strikes Log in to Reply Aikido4Life November 21, 2012 Shocktime that was funny Log in to Reply baller November 21, 2012 it would be an unfair ADVANTAGE IN SIZE. but gsp has a very slim chance in the supa fight Log in to Reply bob November 21, 2012 Silva finishes fights — GSP doesn’t. Silva and Jones more matched in size. Log in to Reply bigbob November 21, 2012 why not gsp winner of diaz /henderson Log in to Reply Joe Dog November 21, 2012 I am not interested in seeing Silva kill GSP. Nick Diaz needs his shot at GSP. I’m also not interested in seeing Jones kill Silva. Silva needs to take on the next MW contender. Silva will loose his belt to Chris W. when the time comes. Mark my words. Log in to Reply bobbo November 21, 2012 No way Georges would or should fight Silva at anything more than 175. Anything more than 175 and its a distinct advantage for Silva. I want this fight to be even going in to the fight. If it’s a catch weight of 178 I feel its already decided Silva will win before they fight. I don’t want a super fight built up to be spectacular when it’s inherently unfair. Log in to Reply ThatDude November 21, 2012 gsp dont want no part of Silva Log in to Reply oshawabinalex November 21, 2012 Just make the weigh in the day of the fight.. Problem solved. Log in to Reply Steve November 21, 2012 GSP would get owned by Silva. Can’t blame him for not wanting the fight. There wouldn’t be that big a difference in their size. Silva is one inch taller than Condit and no one complained about Condit having an unfair advantage. GSP should stay at 170 and fight all the contenders like Hendricks and Macdonald. Log in to Reply TheKungFuLowKick November 21, 2012 HAHA GSP almost called Johny Hendricks Jimmy. When I talk about Hendricks half of the time I call him Jimmy. @dankarelli Well said. This to me is just like Rousey calling out Cyborg. She’s calling out Cyborg, but she only wants to fight her at 135,not 145 where Cyborg is and where Ronda fought the majority of her career. To me it’s a cheap way to save face. Then Silva and Rousey can say: “I called my opponent out,it’s the opponent who doesn’t want to fight, not me.”But if Silva really wanted to fight GSP he would drop down and If Ronda really wasn’t scared, she would move up in weight. Log in to Reply getitstraight November 21, 2012 First of all, Anderson never called out GSP. Fans for many years have, and so has Dana White. Anderson simply said he’d be interested. GSP is so smart, he’s playing hardball to get more money. Everyone knows a catch weight of 177lbs. would be fair, but at 170lbs, GSP would be favored, at a catch-weight, Anderson would be the favorite, and look like a wasp with skinny limbs and a giant head. Either the way, the fight will look like Matt Hughes against Pele-landis. GSP will hold him down and dominate before eventually eating a knee and being finished. All the feints in the world wont save him from the fatal spider bite. Log in to Reply Perulives November 21, 2012 Steve, height has nothing to do with it. There aren’t height classes, we have weight classes. (This is due to a thing called gravity) Gsp walks around 180 or so while Silva 200+, that is a pretty big difference if you ask me. Log in to Reply anderson cheats November 21, 2012 anderson silva needs to fight someone his own size! like maybe Jon Jones! Log in to Reply anderson cheats November 21, 2012 Without steroids Guyborg could easily fight at 135lb! but he is scared of Rhonda! Log in to Reply idolo November 21, 2012 silva would destroy gsp Log in to Reply Rocco55 November 21, 2012 Give them 10 million each, make the weight at 175 and let’s do this thing Log in to Reply T'Challa November 21, 2012 DIAZ vs GSP. That’s the fight to make.. I respect Hendricks, but we all know title shots have nothing to do with who actually earns it (see Sonnen, Chael). This fight has genuine bad blood, and is the fight we all wanted to see before Diaz went MIA. Log in to Reply stray1 November 21, 2012 there is nothing to gain from this superfight.it will not determine anything.why have champs fight.let them have their respective win streaks stopped by a contender, not in a fight that counts for nothing.legit contenders are waiting,or why not have them fight twice once at 170 and once at 185 if they tie then rubber match at 177,that would determine a true p4p great. great potential but still pointless.i get that its a business and it makes sense.as a sport it doesn’t.diaz needs to earn his shot,if he can’t handle the judges decision then learn to cut the cage off better and learn to adjust to your opponents gameplans.he’s undeserving. Log in to Reply MangyMongoose November 21, 2012 Why not average the two weight classes: 178.5 They both come up and down evenly. It’s actually fair. Log in to Reply asdf November 21, 2012 It’s funny how much people disrespect GSP. Yes, he doesn’t finish fights but he DOMINATES them. Log in to Reply stray1 November 21, 2012 its not even that he doesn’t finish, look at his record.he hasn’t finished lately against top fighters.but he makes the best guys in the world look like amateurs.people cry about him holding guys down instead of realizing that these guys aren’t complete enough to stuff/avoid or take advantage of gsp takedowns.they also quickly forget the amount of fighters hes picked apart standing.the guys hes beaten have a lot of respect for him.he breaks fighters badly.he beats fighters where they are weak regardless of where that is.his brilliance=a long and fruitfull career. Log in to Reply rza808 November 22, 2012 GSP is totally afraid. He doesnt ever mention a catch weight. Always talking about 170. Lol He walks around near 200 himself. Face the facts style wise Silva is a bad matchup for GSP. Footwork reach and height scares GSP… Log in to Reply blow November 22, 2012 the reason why gsp doesnt wanna fight anderson is the same good reason why silva doesnt want to fight jones and all of them 3 know that, thats why they act like they do.only dan henderson doesnt care about things like weight, reach and strenght.i dont give a sh*t about superfights.. Log in to Reply steamer November 23, 2012 GSP sounds like he doesn’t wanna fight Silva? Awww…what a puss. Silva sounds like he doesn’t wanna fight Jones? Awww what a puss. Jones doesn’t wanna fight GOD? Awww what a puss Log in to Reply jonnybricks November 24, 2012 give the guy a chance to get back in the cage and get his wits before asking him about Anderson! He just had a tough 5 round fight with one of the top welterweights in the world after a 16 month lay off! of course he doesnt sound sure right now. the real gsp will be back Log in to Reply Tempted November 26, 2012 There is no reason for this fight to happen. GSP has to beat the #1 contender before he tries to move up. Until he beats Diaz, there won’t be an answer to who the best 170lb fighter is. I don’t mean win a decision by pat and run like Condit did, I mean beat Nick in a fight. It isn’t ultimate point sparring or ultimate lay and hump, its Ultimate Fighting. Log in to Reply paddedummy November 29, 2012 It’s actually now the “ultimate lose as much weight and gain it back right before the fight to have an unfair advantage over your opponent championship”. MMA is the same as boxing in the ways that makes boxing suck. Not caring about weight and reach is what makes guys like Hendo and Fedor real fighters and not b1tches like Silva, Jones and maybe even GSP, we will see. Calling guys pound for pound GOAT who worry about sh1t like that is ridiculous. At least let GSP move up to 185 to see if he could crush a few cans the way Silva did at 205 before the super fight though.
