I actually respect Jackson’s opinion here. This guy is only looking for the best interest of his fighter, doesn’t give a F*** about Dana / UFC / or the fans. He wants Jones to be on top as long as possible and that requires proper training and planning regardless of whom the opponent is.
The only douche here is Dana. Always talking out of his giant twat… He’s going to lose a couple of millions and that really gets to him.

Dana is a jerk. He wants everyone else to take risks for his company but he is NEVER willing to risk his company for anyone. Case in point was the first few negotiations for Fedor and M1 to work with the UFC and have a super fight with Randy Couture. M1 wanted a lot but Dana was not willing to risk it. He made a partially right call by not partnering with M1 but he should have allowed that fight with Randy and Fedor. The point is that he is quick to want others to lay it on the line but he never is willing to do the same.
At the end of the day Dana is a shrewd and cautious business man who hates it when others are also shrewd and catious when doing business with him.

A fight promoter shouldn’t be blaming fighters or coaches for promotional problems. Setting up an event is YOUR job, not a fighter’s job and not a coach’s job. If they set up more grand prix style fight cards, they wouldn’t have this problem. Instead, they had that absurd method for determining a #1 contender, then chaotically scrambled to fix the upcoming event by throwing in a guy who just lost a fight. That doesn’t make ANY sense if you’re trying to determine the best fighter.
People and Uncle Fester were hating on Anderson a couple years back after two consecutive “boring” fights, but whose fault is that when you match him up with pure BJJ guys whose style is primarily defensive in the main event?

I agree with Greg, I would have told my fighter the same thing. Greg’s job is to make his fighters win through strategy and preparation. Those things take time to be effective.

I hate Jones and Jackson, but not for this. He’s not fighting for pride, it’s his career, and to take this fight would be stupid and pointless.
