Gomi Signs To Fight For World Victory Road

The UFC just couldn’t come up with a deal to satisfy Takanori Gomi so instead he chooses Japanese fight organization World Victory Road.

A deal to acquire the Japanese superstar was struck sometime last week and Gomi now will claim nearly $200,000 per fight. Though an opponent has not been set it is expected that Gomi’s first bout will be March 5 on the Sengoku fight card.

Fights already scheduled for the World Victory Road (WVR) Sengoku event in Tokyo, Japan.

Sanae Kikuta VS Phil Baroni

Makoto Takimoto VS Evangelista Santos

Kazuo Misaki VS Siyar Bahadurzada

Hidehiko Yoshida VS Roger Gracie

All bouts are scheduled for 3 rounds.

to those who didnt know, penn and gomi already fought and he already did give gomi a beatdown. so far that fight card looks good, definetly a show worth watching. i wonder if the rules are unpadded in WVR like they were in pride.

Penn and Gomi fought at RUMBLE OF THE ROCK 4 and it was not a grappling match , it was an mma fight, look it up. you come on here and try to correct me but you dont even know what your talking about. next time dont speak on subjects your not informed on. everybodys seen the penn/ gomi fight .

Gomi is one of the worlds top fighters, FUnny how he took our One of the Gracies in 5 seconds lol. Only person to defeat this kid was BJ. Gomi is all that fool..they fought over 3 years ago and Penn vs GOMI would of made a great fight..Diaz fights welter weight ,Gomi still fought coz it was non title fight ..Gomi is top light weight as is Penn,diaz has to find his form again in welter

I think everyone is failing to see the big picture, he’s getting $200,000 a fight. I doubt very much that the UFC would be wiling to pay Gomi $200,000 a fight. Being from Hawaii I’m a BJ Penn fan and I watched his fight with Gomi. BJ Penn is not someone to be afraid of so much as respected as a fighter so I doubt Gomi who’s already experienced a fight with Penn is scared of him.

Serra worked Gomi the whole time in that BJJ tourney. Just throwing that out there.
