A Gogoplata is essentially a throat air choke using your shin and control of your opponent’s head. It can be a spectacular, rare choke to see in MMA but unfortunately, most people’s flexibility and acute sense of timing probably are not on the level to pull it off regularly. |
Probably the most common variation you will see is where you start off like a kimura/triangle by pushing an arm back, but instead of swinging your other arm over or bringing your leg over that arm, you shove your leg up, and wedge your shin under their chin and over their shoulder.
This move will take quit a bit of practice to perform well. Most fighters never get it down well enough to ever use it in a fight but if they do it will be talked about for months.
