The ladies put on a good fight. Kaitlin is tough and gave Gina some of the hardest competition she has faced. I’m glad that Gina won, but I wouldn’t knock Kaitlin. She fought hard and I’m sure we’ll see more from her in the future of MMA.

That sounds disrespectful to the women though. They deserve all the accolades. They put on a good show. That’s also the only stoppage I don’t have an argument with. Kaitlin was getting busted up and was turning colors during that choke. I didn’t want to see her take any more punishment and there was no need for it, it was obvious who won that fight.

too bad gina didnt make weight, so the fight didnt matter. perhaps next time, elite xc can actually spend the money on announcers who know how to call a fight. that was a pretty unique “rubber guard” in the first round. if this whole free event on broadcast television is supposed to turn people onto the sport, lets hope the athletes can make weight and the announcers know what they are talking about…

Most ridiculous night of fights ever. For most of the fights, it was 15-20 minutes of bullshit before the actual fight, which then wasn’t worth watching.
This was the one exception, and it shouldn’t have ended. The doc asked Kaitlin where she was, she responded perfectly and he waved that the fight was over. Fixed much?

i agree with unoe c. yetecinko. this whole entire night with the dancers, fireworks, busta rhymes, blah blah blah… was rediculous! what 8th grade homeroom was responsible for putting this fiasco together?!
this was, by in far, the best fight of the night. these women were excellent fighters. i’d pit them against some of the men! their technique was the some of the cleanest i’ve seen. it’s nice to see good execution in a kick for a change. kudos to these two for showing some real MMA skills!

I think people are just angry cause this was the first MMA event on public television and they didn’t like how it was presented and in turn it hurts the sport.

Decent fight. Thought Young would do better considering how dominant she looked in her previous fights.
Carano failing to make weight for the 4th time in a row is getting ridiculous(even more pathetic is that the 140lb division was made specifically for her). The 12.5% purse penalty is a mere fraction of her endorsements and it’s obviously Carano feels the penalty vs. benefit is worthwhile. This is just unprofessional and disrespectful to the opponent.

I don’t get how Carano is overweight – she trains full-time as part of her role on AG, so how is it that she wasn’t able to keep a few pounds off?
And Robert speaks truth – a lot of MMA fans are pissed because it made the sport look like most of those hyped-up ridiculous boxing matches, with promoters and venue managers trying to make each fighter’s entrance better than the last. It was a mockery of how most MMA fight nights are held and just made EliteXC look even more like the amateur league it has show itself to be.

I wasn’t disagreeing with the piss poor presentation of the event, I was just saying that nobody could or should knock the ladies on this one. Like someone else said, they executed their kicks and moves almost flawlessly and showed people what MMA(Muay Thai for sure) is supposed to look like.

What was up with that physician? While these ladies proved they can fight as well as men, that doctor was horrible.It seemed she was too squeamish at the bruise when it was obvious it didn’t affect the fighter ‘s vision. Get an old time boxing doc in there who stops a fight when the fighter is actually hurt and not just banged up. She stopped three very exciting fights , all by her own likely inexperience !

Correct, AmGlads has her at about 165-170 for the show, I believe.
I think it was a bad stoppage. The night was full of them. In this case though it didn’t appear to be a dr. stoppage. In response to the fight, Young said that the dr. actually cleared her to fight round three. She said it was the commissioners who stopped the fight.
I wonder if CBS knows what they signed on for. MMA is violent, people get hurt; Can’t call fights to spare the public. In fact, that’s what the fans want to see; a real fight.
Anyway I think Young could have kept going. The first round was close, Young could have won it. The second was definitely Carano’s. But Young is a fighter and could have had a chance at winning the third. I want to see rematch, maybe one where Carano has not just come off of filming and is at her best. I think Young could have pulled it out.

Nice gogoplata attempt. But it did restrict some airflow to weaken K. Young. The commentators didn’t have any MMA experience nor did they have a fighter in the booth to provide color and inside knowledge. Most sports often have players or coaches comment. I don’t know why they didn’t do it here. The doctors stopped it because they feared that K. Young had a broken cheekbone from those, as the commentators call it “can openers” which are hook punches that go around the fighters arms when they are up on guard. Anyway that cheek would have continued to swell as the fight went on and would be in danger of rupturing as more punches are applied to it.

All you guys giving props to the ladies fight are crazy.That fight shouldnt have even taken place.Im pretty sure Young got pressured into fighting after Carano couldnt make weight and probably didnt give much effort to cutting to make weight.Huge advantage for Carano but im sure CBS and Elite XC wanted thier cover girl on prime time.Props to young for a good effort
