Yes, his style nullifies anyone he’s in the ring with and I understand his amazing BJJ defense but it’s still boring to me. You can call me an uneducated MMA fan (to which you’d be wrong) but his style just isn’t that exciting. I get it, he’s trying to win, and he should but I would never pay to watch one of his fights. Just my 2 cents. Log in to Reply Roe Jogan March 17, 2013 Georges won… and was boring in the process…. again. Log in to Reply Sammy March 17, 2013 I’m tired of all the complaining after GSP fights, You all knew beforehand it was going to be boring 5 round decision anyways, don’t complain so much. Georges is just smarter than all these guys, period, yeah he is boring but if these guys could defend his TD then it would not be a boring fight. Log in to Reply Joe Dog March 17, 2013 GSP is a great mma fighter. He has the whole package and therefore he wins. If you find him “boring”, don’t watch. Log in to Reply iWay March 17, 2013 nick diaz is the biggest cry baby in mma. if he could have beaten st. pierre then he should have. this is MIXED martial arts and wrestling is included. if you can’t handle that then this sport is not for you. Log in to Reply rightsaysfred March 17, 2013 How did Diaz come into this fight without knowing how to slip a jab… best boxer in mma my ass. Credit to GSP for doing what he does, but I ****ing hate this lay and prey shit. He didn’t win a fight, he won a wrestling match. Log in to Reply Moostachio March 17, 2013 GSP’s a human paper weight. Log in to Reply smashingsnails March 17, 2013 Nick is a piece of shit as well as his brother..get the **** on…always talking shit. soooo glad he got his ass kicked. he would be a sad rep for the ufc if he was the champ. sucker punching bitch ass. Log in to Reply cbachman75 March 17, 2013 Gsp boring?….Yes, but he knows exactly how to win a fight, and it’s his opponents who need to figure out how to beat him… not him to change his style. Unless your the one in there doing it stop your bitching, they would both more than likley have you crying in under a minute. As far as Anderson Silva vs GSP no chance GSP would last even 1 round & I think GSP fans won’t push for this fight as they did years ago so its gonna be the ASvsJJ super fight & JJ will crumble MARK MY WORDS!!!!! Log in to Reply PitfighterZ March 17, 2013 Just some numbers: Official numbers from Fightmetric: GSP outstruck Nick Diaz 210 to 80. Significant strikes 105 to 40 GSP. Nick got only 1 submission deep enough to actually count. GSP got 9 takedowns in 16 attempts. Even if you think GSP is boring, Nick must be a snooze, then. The few moments where they were trading strikes, Nick chose to pace uselessly instead of fighting. Enough of this soap opera. How about Diaz v. Koscheck; loser leaves town. Log in to Reply The Heckler March 17, 2013 You stupid ball licking bitches! If Nick is such a bad ass on the ground he should of used some of that BJJ and submitted George…..GSP dominated him, it’s a ****ing fight if you don’t like the guy laying on you do something about it…… Log in to Reply Young March 17, 2013 It’s really funny that people would really defend someone like GSP. That’s shows what he’s doing to the sport, bringing all these fans in here that really defend and loves the way he holds people down. Pretty soon all you’re going to see is all the up and comers want to hold people down thinking that’s the for sure win. A real man takes risks and goes for it. And if GSP BEAT HIM STANDING UP, WHY IS HIS FACE SO MESSED UP, cut under bother eyes and his nose. GSP didn’t do anything to diaz literally he couldn’t even cut his scarred tissue. Laying on someone is not mixed martial arts! That defeats the whole purpose of the damn sport that’s what none of you little spectators don’t understand and won’t understand cause you fans like these love and praise a fighter that doesn’t do anything. All this training and that’s all he does, throw strikes to set up a takedown GSP doesn’t strike to knock people out. Coward Log in to Reply danada March 17, 2013 I wanted Nick to win, but I’m glad George used his wrestling. If St. Pierre chose to stand up and then go for a takedown in the last minute of every round for points like he has his last few fights, then this fight would have been even more boring. I’m glad George decided to play to his strength in wrestling and dominate the aspect of the game that he’s dominant in. All said, Diaz took it a lot better than a lot of other challengers did. He even stuffed some takedowns, and Nick’s weakest aspect is his wrestling. Diaz took a lot less punishment than other guys George has wrestled and ground and pounded. All in all it was a pretty good fight. They’re different types of fighters but George did the right thing. If GSP tried to win the fight on the feet ala Condit vs Diaz and just backpedaled and jabbed the whole fight it would have been very bad for the sport. Kudos to both for going hard for 5 rounds. Great cardio on display. Log in to Reply kung fu k9 March 17, 2013 gsp=lamest champ eva!! hes tarnished his legacy, i know how i’ll remember gsp as the ground humper afraid to get serra’d lol Log in to Reply Sean_V March 17, 2013 ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Log in to Reply McRamiches March 17, 2013 To all the Diaz apologist (aka C*ck suckers) and GSP haters. Everyone and their mother knew GSP’s game plan and his style of fight. Well ALL knew he was going to take Diaz down and ground and pound. Bitch and whine all you want Diaz did not have any answer to fight off GSP but stuffing very few take downs. Diaz got frustrated and stooped to a cheap shameful level of trying to cheap shot. I hope he retires for good because he has no heart left for MMA. He’s done washed up head case. A true champ wouldn’t give up and talk retirement after each loss, and would not bitch about how he got held all fight… Guess what its MMA and in MMA there are wrestlers who take you down. You want to keep the fight standing up? well learn better take down defense and change up your style to keep your opponents up. Log in to Reply odin March 17, 2013 To the people who complain, most of you probably never trained and can understand what is really going on. You should just watch WWE or something. GSP is amazing at what he does. Log in to Reply Stuppin' Hawking The Fing Genius March 17, 2013 To all the Diaz nut huggerz and people complaining about wrestling in MMA I have recommendations: 1. Go watch a Tough man competitions where both guys are half drunk and throwing haymakers before they gas 1 minute and 8 seconds into the first round, but please, go away. 2. Watch Boxing, Muay Thai, Savate or Irish shin kicking where there is only 1 martial art …and it’s a striking art…no wrestling, and please, go away. 3. Start your own sport. You know one that works exactly the way you think it should and see how far you get, and please, go away. 4. Stop sniveling about “boring” pay per view fights that you didn’t pay a dime to watch, and please, go away. 5. Back fighters who can stop a take down and not just fighters who are your kindred spirits because because you both smoke pot and blame everybody else for the f’ed up your life is while you refuse to get your head straight and drop the pipe, and finally, please go away. Log in to Reply shocktime March 17, 2013 only a blind fanboy can consider GSP exciting. watching him fight is so boring! Fedor had good exciting ground N Pound. GSP does not! He’s too safe too boring, no warrior spirit to just go for broke and finish fights. He will continue to win with his boring style till he’s at least 35, or fights A. Silva. He will go down as the best and most boring fighter in MMA History. Log in to Reply mmafan400 March 17, 2013 Lol, you guys just can’t appreciate the intricacies of GSP’s game. The way he avoided the kneebar, his awareness of every one of diaz’s sweep attempts and creative ways to avoid them, his footwork standing and timing on his shots…I can see why some people find it boring, but stop bitching, it’s a game people, and he’s good at it. Log in to Reply kung fu k9 March 17, 2013 hope hendricks serra’s gsp… Log in to Reply FedorFailsAgain March 17, 2013 Hey everyone I’m a Nick Diaz Fan…Waaaaah Waaaaah, someone get me a bucket so it can catch my TEARS! LOL Log in to Reply coutura March 17, 2013 it funny nate nick diaz jake shield and gilver melendes they all had a plan to take the ufc titles on 2013 ..but it did not happen only gilver melendes is left .lol. lets see if he can beat benson Log in to Reply Arod83 March 17, 2013 Can people tell me the 25 minutes that GSP laid on top of nick cause I’m sure half of the fight according to the stats were standing. And I’d GSP sucks how come no one can beat him if he does the same thing in each fight you’d think fighter would know what to expect. THE CHALLENGER NEEDS TO TAKE THE BELT NOT THE CHAMP. I don’t understand how people don’t get that and nick sucked for all his bjj talk and boxing cause he trains with Ward blew up in his face Log in to Reply Crocography March 17, 2013 God, if some of you guys think that GSP was laying and praying, you must of really hated Hendricks because he really did squat on top of Carlos. Log in to Reply TRA the mens rea March 17, 2013 I have a confession to make. Earlier this week I predicted GSP would dry hump Diaz and leave with a sore unit and Diaz would leave with the belt. GSP did dry hump but followed up with some nasty G and P. GSP outworked Diaz in the standup (but Diaz worked round 3 as advertised). That said GSP did what he had to do. He outfought Diaz on the ground and standing. Diaz can’t say all GSP did was lay and pray. This was a competition and GSP showed why he’s on top. Log in to Reply thats just how i feel March 17, 2013 i am a Diaz fan. the first couple rounds made Diaz think about the take down which is why Diaz didn’t strike much on the feet in my opinion. gotta give credit to Georges game planing and strength and conditioning training. with that said gsp cant fight fire with fire witch is why its hard for me to respect him as a fighter. wish there were more rounds or longer rounds Log in to Reply OscarMayhem March 18, 2013 GSP will lose the same amount of fans Condit did playing the BS point game against Diaz. In a real fight, Diaz wins every time. Log in to Reply Dana White March 18, 2013 George won get over it… until the rules are changed it will always remain the same original rule: the best style wins. If you love boxing go watch boxing. This is Mixed Martial Arts. Log in to Reply london_jones March 18, 2013 George is a game plan man..he does not care about looking good when he wins, he is just a game plan man…boring yes! but that’s how he keeps his belt. well after Spider retires that’s it for me! switching to boxing! not everything is right in boxing..but at least you get to see a fight. Log in to Reply tobes March 18, 2013 Does anyone on here realistically think Hendricks has a chance? I’m giving him decent odds. He’s a fantastic grappler in his own right and a tremendous power puncher. He was definitely issuing octagon control and landing some clean hard shots with those power lefts. My money would still be on GSP, but I’m stoked to see the Hendricks/St. Pierre fight. Log in to Reply STOCKTON WHAT March 18, 2013 GSP wins by dry humping, no surprise here. Diaz would kill him in a boxing match. Log in to Reply wtf March 18, 2013 “Nick Diaz is the most disrespectful human being I’ve ever met, and I’m going to put the worst beating you’ve ever seen on him in the UFC”… GSP must have missed quite a few UFC events then. Log in to Reply Vic77 March 18, 2013 Diaz got completely owned and dominated for 5 rounds……HaHa Log in to Reply vsmoove March 18, 2013 All you need is cardio and lateral movement to beat Diaz’ stand-up. Face it, he doesn’t have the skill to beat the top, well-rounded athletes in MMA. I mean, he job jabbed and super-man punched to death by a guy with a shorter reach. And then his BJJ was completely nullified. Granted, he made it difficult to ground and pound him but if you want to blame someone for a boring fight, blame Nick. What happened to the fast-paced, 5 punches a second Nick? He was nowhere because that guy doesn’t exist at the elite levels. Log in to Reply KungFuLowKick March 18, 2013 @Young You’re basically saying GSP fan are uneducated about MMA and fighting, but your way to judge stand up fighting is by how much a fighter is bruised or cut?? Log in to Reply DanielMcfate March 19, 2013 There seems to be a large contingent of people posting comments along the lines of “If you think GSP fights are boring, you don’t understand MMA.” I, for one, can appreciate the skill and talent GSP possesses and his ability to dominate and control his opponent, yet I still find some of his fights rather boring. Yes, we could all watch other forms of fighting as ‘Stuppin Hawking’ (who thinks quite highly of himself according to his moniker) suggests, but many of us enjoy MMA and the nuances of this fight form. GSP is a smart fighter who sticks to his game plan and is able to out point opponents. I think he is a great champion but his style is simply not very exciting to watch. Again, just my opinion and I am not trying to change yours. Log in to Reply Ground St. Pound March 20, 2013 I love what I’m reading here! Some of you guys are honestly saying that although GSP outstruck Diaz on the feet and on the ground, and although GSP landed more significant shots, he should change his style so that nobody accuses him of laying and praying?? For real?? That’s how some of your brains work? The champ should change his style to one that gives his opponents more chances to win? Really? You really watch MMA for that kind of dumbing down to the lowest common denominator? I can understand not liking his style. That’s your prerogative. But suggesting he should change it is immature and stupid. Log in to Reply brobo1960 March 26, 2013 For someone who is garbage, GSP seems pretty unstopable! Hendricks was lucky the fight was not 5 rounds or he would not be fighting next!Condit was brilliant for this fight! GSP could let his hands go more, he is a bit gun shy now as his chin is not the best but so far they are having trouble beating him and I dont see Hendricks doing it either! If GSP getS confidence in his striking someone is in for a real beating! Log in to Reply « Older Comments Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
