He dominated it nearly completely. There was a moment in the 4-th when Condit landed a kick to the head, but he looked more off-balance than anything. He was in control even from the back. GSP also cought Condit with a good shots on the feet, he’s just not into following it up with more punches and opted to take him down. Kudos to both of them – I really enjoyed the firght

What a fight between two lions! Condit trained for nine months while GSP was rehabbing his knee and CC still couldn’t handle GSP’s GnP!

Wow I was shaking during that whole fight. Freaked out after that head kick. But my boy George pulled through. Johnny Hendricks will knock GSP out though lol

before the Diaz fight, I admired Condit a great deal. In this fight, he brought me back to that! He sort of looks like a super fast and versatile version of Keith Jardine; Very weird body mechanics that take you by surprise.

I know people will say GSP should have had his hands up, but watch that a few times and put yourself there…very weird how Condit seems off balance from misses before landing that

GREAT fight. I don’t care that GSP doesn’t finish often…he’s not humping in his fights and is clearly the better for wear every time. he fuchs them up!

bob Says, in 11-18-2012 at 04:53:15 from

Terrible fight.

GSP = Good Takedowns. But he uses it to avoid the fight.

Who wants to watch 25 minutes of single leg takedowns?

Dave Says, in 11-18-2012 at 09:37:14 from

wow what a domination. even though condit was in top notch shape and gsp was of for 19 month! its amazing how GSP dominated the fight.

TheKungFuLowKick Says, in 11-18-2012 at 10:47:48 from

I hope it’s just ring rust.GSP was WAY slower then he used to be.it almost looked like he was twice as slow as he used to be.And his takedowns were good but nothing like they used to be.He never weaved a punch and double leg at the same time like he used to.I’m happy they cancelled the Silva fight.I like GSP he looks like a good person,I don’t want to see him get clowned by Silva for a minute then KOed by the 1st strike Silva throws.

TheKungFuLowKick Says, in 11-18-2012 at 10:52:20 from

I hope this isn’t the last time we see GSP,but it’s a big possibility. He looked so dissapointed during the interview and he said he hopes this isn’t the last time he fights. He knows he wasn’t the same fighter at all that he used to be.He was slower, his reaction time was slower too.And his technique didn’t looked sharp.I think if GSP still feels the same,he will retire before his next fight.

I honestly think it was a great fight… it’s amazing how easy it is to judge when you are not the one facing the pressure of fighting in front of the world… the day of the fight I tried to think in GSP’s shoes (fighting after 18 months, having to maintain the belt against my toughest opponent yet, in front of my home town, my friends and my family…. ) WOW… and he STILL pulled it off… honestly hats off to the both of them. and at the end of the day, they both walk away with a fat paycheck so…

snype6969 Says, in 11-18-2012 at 12:32:46 from

Ill give gsp the benefit of the doubt in this one. Hes comin off a very long layoff and some serious surgery. But he really should be more aggressive on top and go for the finish. Try and use his standup more instead of ALWAYS diving for a takedown. But big ups to gsp, the guys a beast and a true champion. Condit did the best he could, ive watched him since the wec days. But truthfully i thought he lost to diaz. I would still like to see diaz get his shot before they do the silva superfight thing.

dub Says, in 11-18-2012 at 12:38:25 from

everyone who saw that fight likes the fight. If you don’t like how GSP fights then don’t watch it.. As Dana states, they don’t need your money. If there is a match up that I don’t really care for, then I don’t watch it so people who keep complaining about GSP just need to not watch the fights.

Escapee Says, in 11-18-2012 at 12:57:38 from

Very interesting fight. With 18 months off, GSP didn’t exactly look like his normal self. Still dominated 24 min of 25 min fight though against who is the divisions number 1. Hendricks looks to be somewhat of a one trick pony right now. avoid the left and keep your head. Ha ha!

MMAgiantsilva Says, in 11-18-2012 at 13:45:29 from

What a fantastic fight. Condit fought to win not to not lose like many who fight GSP. GSP won but Condit was dangerous the whole fight. I was impressed by both fighters but my boy George looked great but i dont believe the knee is quite 100% yet.

Brodieman Says, in 11-18-2012 at 14:24:58 from

GSP should say that he will fight Anderson after he moves up and fights John Jones. Moving up in Weight to fight the larger framed taller fighters is Physical going to be harder then going down nearly always. That makes this fight not very appealing to GSP for good reason. If Anderson were to fight John Jones and win or even be very competitive it would change the way people would look at a loss vs Anderson on GSP record.

Rob Says, in 11-18-2012 at 14:35:28 from

Silva’s too tall for GSP? Idiots. Silva and Condit are both 6′ 2″. It baffles me that any of you will pay money to watch GSP takedown people and lay on top of them for title fights. WTF? The fighter should worry about the W, not you, the fan. You should want a Fight, not some s*** that barely passes for ground and pound.

You don’t win a street fight on points by having more single-leg takedowns.

When the UFC was created it was to show to people who would win street fights among different styles.

RP Says, in 11-18-2012 at 16:00:23 from

GSP proved without a doubt that he is a great fighter! After 18 months of inactivity, he played with Condit like if he was a puppet. Condit like many other fighters before him, wasn’t able to solve the GSP mystery.

For the ones who thinks that Hendricks would KO GSP, I think you are dreaming. Hendricks is no match to GSP. Hendricks would be out of gas after the 3rd round and GSP would dominate him completely. GSP is too fast, to dominant and too intelligent to be knocked out like Kampmann was.

John Says, in 11-18-2012 at 17:31:56 from

Maybe it is just me but I do not think it is ok for a fighter to challenge someone from a lower weight class unless he can drop the weight an make the weight class. Anderson should challenge Jones not GSP.

Im not knockin gsps style. He beat the s*** out of condit. But anyone who says hes exciting to watch and that he goes all out in his fights is simply a gsp fanboy. Im a gsp fan but im in touch with reality. The guy just takes u down and grinds out decisions. But like i said with the layoff he had, plus the surgery. Give the guy a break. He even fought back from a brutal head kick, gsp kicked ass. He got the win, not flashy or exciting, but a win none the less.

Eddie Says, in 11-18-2012 at 19:18:32 from

20% of these posts so far have made me laugh. Stupid comments lol shut up about the knee, it made no difference. um the headkick wasn’t in the fourth round.. and how in the hell was that a terrible fight? You don’t like takedowns, then just fuckkkkk offfffff. Like don’t even be a small part of any small part of the mma scene at all.. I watched this fight at a bar and I just came on this site to see what I was hoping hardcore fans thought about the fight because a lot of my friends I can’t have a good convo about it with. Anyway I didn’t have a favourite going into it, like GSP but I relate well to Condit and like him too. Great fight, had me moving with them the whole time Chuck style.

Tempted Says, in 11-18-2012 at 19:58:54 from

Exactly what I thought it would be. Boring lay and hump by GSP. Round 3 was fun for about a minute. Rest of the fight sucked. Condit tried the run away tactic he used against Diaz but GSP caught him and dry humped him every round. I also lost money on it, I had some on Condit. I am still up this month, I put a big bet on the Kung/Franklin fight and cashed in.

GSP vs Diaz is the only fight I want to see GSP take. Diaz has too nasty of a guard for GSP to lay in for 25 minutes and Diaz has infinitely better striking. GSP vs Silva is dumb and shouldn’t happen. Silva will murder him at any weight.

Fights that need to happen are GSP/Diaz, Hendo/Bones, A. Silva/Bones and Edgar vs Faber. Fights that would be great are Machida/A. Silva, Hunt/JDS, Nelson/Cain.

T’Challa Says, in 11-18-2012 at 20:57:04 from

Idiots who say this was a boring fight.. stop watching MMA then. If u want all stand up, go watch K-1 kickboxing.

GSP takes guys down and GROUNDS AND POUNDS them into a pulp. He doesn’t stall, or just try to hold guys in place like Sonnen or what the old Fitch used to do.

From the post fight press conference, GSP has heard all you whiny critics and basically said he doesn’t give a damn what you think.

mmafan400 Says, in 11-18-2012 at 21:37:11 from

Really? you’re really going to try to compare this to a street fight? In the street there are kicks to the groin, eye gouging, biting, possible weapons (or stuff like rocks, glass), more clothes, it’s not a flat terrain and the ground is probably way harder than the mat. Not to mention the possibility of multiple people being involved, and a fight wouldn’t be able to last past 5 minutes. Mixed martial arts has NEVER been an accurate simulation of a street fight. It is the closest we have to it (legally), but don’t be confused. Even if you want to bring this into a street fight scenario, the first round would have never ended, and GSP would have kept beating the s*** out of Condit until he was unconscious. Not to mention both fighters would train differently if the rules were different.

It’s so annoying to read this s***, you don’t think he’s interesting? okay, that’s your opinion. But in the end, it’s a sport, and he’s a great player.

bob Says, in 11-18-2012 at 21:47:09 from

Most olympic caliber wrestlers could have done the same thing GSP did – single leg take downs.

GSP can’t finish. GSP is great a takedowns – but he won’t fight to finish or he can’t.

GSP is holding the belt hostage with his great (but boring) takedown ability.

These fights aren’t worth money.

Dave Says, in 11-18-2012 at 22:01:09 from

Man George is such a respectful fighter, what an amazing athlete! and condit fought hard, he is tough SOB but George was just way too much for him.

mmafan400 Says, in 11-19-2012 at 01:19:03 from

what you fail to notice is how he is able to get the takedowns. He has a very good standup game. It’s because of this game that the takedown is possible. If wrestling was the only threat, the takedown would be completely defended. GSP is great at drawing people into a standup fight, and as soon as they take a step too far he has the awareness and timing to shoot. Not to mention condit has really good grappling skills. The way in which GSP stepped to avoid armbars, his hand placement for kimuras, his timing to posture for triangles, the way he moved from full guard to 3/4 guard, to half guard, all of these things play into why GSP is great. It’s not just because “he’s a good wrestler”.

Now whether you find that boring is of course your opinion, however, I think many people don’t appreciate (or notice) the small calculated movements that take place.

Tempted Says, in 11-19-2012 at 02:11:07 from

When the majority of fans don’t like it, it isn’t entertaining. Fighters are entertainers and boring fighters aren’t doing their job. GSP doesn’t fight. Has hasn’t fought since 2007. He wrestles and smothers. He does NOT ground and pound. Ground and pound is what Randy and Hughs used to do. GSP just dry humps you for 25 minutes. Fan pays to see action, not gay p***. GSP hasn’t won a fight impressively in years, and hasn’t finished a fight in 5 years. He isn’t a finisher, and finishers are what we like to watch.

T’Challa Says, in 11-19-2012 at 19:12:07 from

@Tempted.. what fight were you watching? When did GSP just hold down Condit and not either throw punches, elbows, or work to improve his position.

Utter bullshit.. if GSP were American, you guys would praise him, regardless of his style of fighting. Tough luck..Canada and Brazil are taking over MMA..

JBox3 Says, in 11-19-2012 at 22:12:13 from

I think it’s funny that people say that GSP does nothing but lay on top. Tell that to the gallon and a half of Condit’s blood that came of a vicious elbow while on top! It was the 2nd most damaging blow of the fight, but I guess he just lays…

I HATED Condit in the WEC. Truly couldn’t stad his attitude and his arrogance. His time in the UFC leading up to Diaz and this fight have shown a new side of him that begs respect. He has grown by leaps and bounds in both his character and his fight game. I never thought it could happen, but I’m officially a huge Carlos Condit fan. Weird…

jpkrunch Says, in 11-19-2012 at 23:26:42 from

Why don’t you STFU T’Challa. Yeah Canada is right there with Brazil! haha. It has nothing to so with what country you are from and I see a LOT of GSP fans on here and we are not Canadians. Some people (from all countries) are just idiots. Apparently they missed the vicious elbows that ripped up Condit’s head and face and the awesome punch that opened his nose. Not to mention surviving and thriving after a brutal kick to the head. If you did not enjoy that fight, MMA is not for you.

Tempted Says, in 11-20-2012 at 13:29:58 from

Don’t be a fool. It has nothing to do with the fact that GSP is Canadian. It has everything to do with the fact that he doesn’t want to fight. He wants to point spar and win decisions, not fight.

stray1 Says, in 11-24-2012 at 00:50:44 from

first of all,it seems that most of the people who comment here should be moving on from mma to boxing or kickboxing, you obviously have no understanding of MIXED martial arts.second, watch the Gracie breakdown.third,GSP breaks guys, and it continues long after they fight him.he truly smashes careers.how long did he lay on kosheck(2nd fight) or shields.he out kick-boxed alves. For the most part he goes in and beats guys where they are weak(their fault not his)he is brilliant in the cage.it pisses me off so much when people don’t look at the other guy and say,he’s in a title fight he should be complete enough to get off/work off his back(remember even when he doesn’t finish, guys they don’t finish him). This is mma. How about Condit vs.Diaz. Condit ran. Umm…let me see… adjust your game-plan and cut the cage off.key word adjust.by the way Condit must be a magician to leave Diaz’ face looking like that when he never engaged.Diaz is a disrespectful, sore loser who cried about a legit loss, Stockton rules his face looked more damaged=he lost.accept your own ideas.call people a bitch while actually being one, keep backing that. Its not a fighters job to give opponents what they want, its actually quite the opposite.21 guys coudn’t finish georges what’s their excuse.

Tempted Says, in 11-26-2012 at 18:52:07 from

Lots of idiots talking about GSP cutting the running man. The cut was from one elbow, not a series of blows. GSP is always moving in the guard, and that’s why he doesn’t get stood up, but he isn’t doing damage. You talk about his strikes, but he doesn’t have any. He’s never shown outstanding striking. The only time he did stand with a guy for most of the fight was when he jabbed Krotcheck to death. No other strikes, just white belt jabs.

The reason people hate him is because he isn’t fighting for entertainment, he is sparring to do nothing but out point his opponent and run away with the belt.

Matt Hughes fought for the title 13 times. Of those 13 title fights, he had one single decision. He finished 9 fights, and he was finished in the other 3. That is why people like him. He was an exciting fighter who always put on a show, win or lose.

GSP has fought for the title 13 times. Of those 13 fights, he has 7 decision wins. He finished 3 fights. One fight was stopped by the corner, not by GSP. He was finished the other 2. His last finish was 5 years ago. That marked his last exciting fight, the rest have been Greg Jackson’s slow and steady(read; BORING) technique that ensures he keeps the belt without taking any risks.
