Man, love Gary. Great guy and best of luck. Would love to read this book, UFC 8 crucifix was my favorite all time knockout, fricken epic. If you could get ahold of this fight Bruno I know I would love to see it again.

its crazy when u see these fighters who are absolute wildmen in the cage, but when you listen to them speak out of it, have a pretty good head on their shoulders, hope Gary has found his peace of mind and best of luck with the dementia.

If you view Goodridge as a credible source, then you must also believe the following. He said during the beginning it was fixed. He was offered the dive in 1999. Pride was founded in 1997. Thus, it is safe to assume that up until 1999 the fights could have been fixed. Pride lasted roughly a decade. So what do you consider as ‘the beginning’. Well it has to be less than half of the time Pride existed. People don’t describe the lifetime, or duration of anything as ‘the beginning’ when one is actually talking about the first half of something. That is to say, the first half of anything is not typically considered the beginning. Therefore, it is safe to assume that Goodridge was talking about a period less than 5 years since Pride was founded because Pride only lasted about 10 years. Half of 10 years is 5 years. So, Goodridge is talking about a period less than five years. Fedor first fought in Pride during 2002 — five years after Pride FC was founded. That’s halfway through the lifetime of Pride FC, not the beginning.

Furthermore, if you look at Fedor’s first three fights, I truly doubt the caliber of his opponents would take a dive for money. We are talking about Semmy Schilt, Heath Herring, and Big Nog. While I do not like Schilt, I doubt someone who holds as many K1 titles as he holds would stoop so low as to take an L for some money.

i don’t think he mean fixed as if the fighters take a dive (you cant fake a knockout or a broken bone) but more as if the match making favored one fighter (putting cans) but that can also help build fighters so i guess is a trade, also in Pride there were a lot of freak fights (big guys vs little guys, celebrities, etc) but that was part of the fun. overall main fights and tournament were great.

exactly, fixed. that means putting Jono Huang with an amateur record of 2-6 against the likes of Vovchanchin, Silva, Sakuraba, ect. they fixed their tier system to add volume so that the entire organization didn’t just look like the character select screen on Super Street Fighter 2.

i think he is talkin pride early days witch was more entertainment than real competition, they had some strange match-ups, dream still does these “fun shows” now and then.. sounds like a good book..

since that UFC is in Japan for the upcoming SAT event. The UFC propaganda hype machine trying to
discredit PrideFC. Reem is a prime another example of the great Pride fighters crushing the “baddest man on the planet “Brock Losner”. Fixed my AZZ. Look at some of the decision UFC had especially involving Asian fighters. PrideFC > UFC always will be,so haters get over it…

There are levels of corruption in anything that generates a large sum of revenue but I highly doubt that they were like “Ok you take this money and lay down in the 1st rd then Silva is going to gently stomp your head just enough to look believable..ok” I can see the match up theory but if you’ve watched pride you know their tryin to take lives not dives..haha
