Log in to Reply BigPapa February 20, 2012 I bought this book. Love Big Daddy. What??? Pride had fixed fights? Knock me over with a feather. Log in to Reply bigtigger February 20, 2012 Fixed then real. How honest, there were many real good fights in Pride. I will never forget the Rampage slam on Ricardo Arona. If that was fake it should of received an Academy Award Log in to Reply Mr. Obvious February 20, 2012 And there’s a bunch of your Fedor wins….fixed. And that, my friends, is why he avoided other organizations and top fighters for so long. Log in to Reply marvelous mad madam mim February 20, 2012 yep crucifix KO is still top 10 for sure. war big daddy During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act. Would love to read this book, UFC 8 crucifix was my favorite all time knockout, fricken epic. If you could get ahold of this fight Bruno I know I would love to see it again. Log in to Reply failsonnen February 20, 2012 Now that makes me wonder about UFC… Log in to Reply Newfie Jitsu February 20, 2012 Fixed fights? when did we start talking about Bob Sapp? Log in to Reply murell February 20, 2012 Did you hear that pride fans? L.O.L Log in to Reply maynard February 20, 2012 its crazy when u see these fighters who are absolute wildmen in the cage, but when you listen to them speak out of it, have a pretty good head on their shoulders, hope Gary has found his peace of mind and best of luck with the dementia. Log in to Reply Jack February 20, 2012 UFC = WWE fix is in. Log in to Reply Goomba February 20, 2012 @Mr. Obvious If you view Goodridge as a credible source, then you must also believe the following. He said during the beginning it was fixed. He was offered the dive in 1999. Pride was founded in 1997. Thus, it is safe to assume that up until 1999 the fights could have been fixed. Pride lasted roughly a decade. So what do you consider as ‘the beginning’. Well it has to be less than half of the time Pride existed. People don’t describe the lifetime, or duration of anything as ‘the beginning’ when one is actually talking about the first half of something. That is to say, the first half of anything is not typically considered the beginning. Therefore, it is safe to assume that Goodridge was talking about a period less than 5 years since Pride was founded because Pride only lasted about 10 years. Half of 10 years is 5 years. So, Goodridge is talking about a period less than five years. Fedor first fought in Pride during 2002 — five years after Pride FC was founded. That’s halfway through the lifetime of Pride FC, not the beginning. Furthermore, if you look at Fedor’s first three fights, I truly doubt the caliber of his opponents would take a dive for money. We are talking about Semmy Schilt, Heath Herring, and Big Nog. While I do not like Schilt, I doubt someone who holds as many K1 titles as he holds would stoop so low as to take an L for some money. Please reply, I would love to read a constructive counter-argument. Log in to Reply Meltface February 20, 2012 Check his Wiki he has been getting rocked in mma it’s not just Kickboxing TKO next TKO and so on Log in to Reply kill666 February 20, 2012 i don’t think he mean fixed as if the fighters take a dive (you cant fake a knockout or a broken bone) but more as if the match making favored one fighter (putting cans) but that can also help build fighters so i guess is a trade, also in Pride there were a lot of freak fights (big guys vs little guys, celebrities, etc) but that was part of the fun. overall main fights and tournament were great. Log in to Reply WTFson February 21, 2012 The UFC has had fixed fights back when they were building it up. You’ll come to realize this if you watch couture vs sylvia. It’s not that surprising and you could see the feining. What has me wondering is how many times a fixed fight has occurred before or after that. But they we know of alteast one, so who knows how many they’ve fixed. Log in to Reply Japaneesy February 21, 2012 exactly, fixed. that means putting Jono Huang with an amateur record of 2-6 against the likes of Vovchanchin, Silva, Sakuraba, ect. they fixed their tier system to add volume so that the entire organization didn’t just look like the character select screen on Super Street Fighter 2. Log in to Reply KungFuLowKick February 21, 2012 Anyone who saw the 1st Pride knows how fixed they were.Gracies were grappling with pro wrestlers and their corners had wrestling masks. When the pro wrestlers were on top they never threw a strike and they didnt strike standing up either. Log in to Reply Mr Obvious February 21, 2012 @ Goomba Stop coming at Mr Obvious with facts. I don’t have time for facts. Log in to Reply casyboy February 21, 2012 i think he is talkin pride early days witch was more entertainment than real competition, they had some strange match-ups, dream still does these “fun shows” now and then.. sounds like a good book.. Log in to Reply Reallynow? February 21, 2012 Yes, please understand the meaning of “fixed” in the fight world. It’s not faking a ko or sub. it’s a least fav or no namer, against a big name or prospect. Log in to Reply Jp February 21, 2012 We’ll…Chael was right. PRIDE WAS FIXED….(Explains alot) Log in to Reply Goomba February 22, 2012 Wow you guys are so right. Such compelling evidence…I truly am surprised if any of you all are over 18 and live a successful life. How do you get far in life while acting like a child? It’s truly disheartening. Not much tertiary education in many of your lives’ huh? Regardless of how you define ‘fixed’ it cannot be applied to Fedor’s beginning fights. My comment was in regards of what Mr. Obvious specifically said about Fedor. You all really think Schilts, Herring, and Big Nog for your first 3 fights in Pride could have been a mismatched? And you don’t have time for facts? Again, I am surprise if you can be a productive part of society by any means. Log in to Reply Mr Obvious February 22, 2012 Scientific reasoning + Fedor nuthugging = Goomba Log in to Reply newmmfan1 February 22, 2012 lmao at ppl bashing pride like this is news. even if every fight was TRULY (dives) fixed it wouldnt make a difference. can’t understand why ppl would bash the most entertaining events since the gladistors of the arena. WAR PRIDE! Log in to Reply Jack February 22, 2012 I totally agree with “Goomba”,and most likely since that UFC is in Japan for the upcoming SAT event. The UFC propaganda hype machine trying to discredit PrideFC. Reem is a prime another example of the great Pride fighters crushing the “baddest man on the planet “Brock Losner”. Fixed my AZZ. Look at some of the decision UFC had especially involving Asian fighters. PrideFC > UFC always will be,so haters get over it… Log in to Reply Niv February 22, 2012 Fixed fights? I guess that seals it Fedor was a nobody, Wandy, Nog’s, Rampage, Shogun, Spider all fakes. That headkick Goodridge took from Gilbert Yvel was really fake looking as well, now that was instant brain damage for sure. Log in to Reply Goomba February 23, 2012 Mr. Obviously an imbecile. 😀 Log in to Reply jkdkilla March 1, 2012 I don’t think all the fights were fixed in Pride but some of them probably where. I mean even Rampage touched on this. They would put two great fighters 1 Japanese and someone else the Japanese always won. This is why the Gracies had so much beef with the Japanese fighters in Pride, they wouldn’t throw their fight. Log in to Reply mysryluvscmpany March 18, 2012 There are levels of corruption in anything that generates a large sum of revenue but I highly doubt that they were like “Ok you take this money and lay down in the 1st rd then Silva is going to gently stomp your head just enough to look believable..ok” I can see the match up theory but if you’ve watched pride you know their tryin to take lives not dives..haha Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
