Kalib looked horrible in this fight. It was poor sportsmanship on Kalib’s part to short change Nate. Nate did all he could to make this into a fight and Nate’s impatience got the better of him, and I believe it was easily warranted.

It would have been poor sportsmanship if the sport was, say, team knitting. What did Quarry do? The jogging thing? It’s true. What was Kalib’s reply? A middle finger.

A correct reply would have been a strike but that didn’t happen for the first 14:30 of the fight, I doubt the last thirty seconds was going to be much different.

The hammerfist? An accurate summary of the entire fight and again, if we had two MMA athletes in the ring — which we didn’t — then the correct reply would have been a fight.

Quarry didn’t show any disrespect that wasn’t earned in spades.

Put another way, the worst beating you’ve ever seen wasn’t even a quarter as embarrassing to the recipient as Kalib’s display here. You can earn respect if you go down fighting but a middle finger ain’t fighting.

They might as well dub him “Joey” in honor of the TUF6 washout. At least Joey had the courtesy to not waste the audience’s money, too.

Those are my sentiments exactly, Kalib is done for sure. His fights are lackluster and now he implodes on ppv. I can’t see how he can possibly overcome this. Apparently the reason he has been called back so many times is that he’s a very likeable guy and the UFC brass liked him, I think its safe to say that’s all changed now.

I’m from a Kyokushin background and have always been taught that you show respect to your opponent in the ring by giving them your best possible fight.
Any less would be an insult. I’ve always carried that with me when I fight.

So to me that was a disgraceful show from Kalib “Running man” Starnes. Let’s hope we’ve seen the last of him.

Also at the post fight interview, Quarry even gave excuses for Starnes, he told Florian that it was hard to be in the ring, its tough to get hit, and the pressure of being in front of the home crowd. All are crap excuses but he did try not to put Starnes down when he really could have.
