I feel like the Freddie haters didnt watch the video. He told shogun that he punched like a girl as a joke and later told him he punches like a boy

I agree 100% first 3 comments are absolutely idiotic. Also he has Parkinson’s disease thats why he mumbles.

bam Says, in 5-17-2013 at 15:34:56 from

Let’s all calm down folks, obviously no-one watched who has posted so far has watched the video because Freddie was actually training Shogun when he said it and he said it as a joke, to which Shogun joked back when he left.

Freddie may not be the best boxing coach in the world but he is near the top and if Shogun is going to him then there must be something there. And if Freddie teaches Shogun to punch with more power, or at least be more technical then that bodes well for us the fans because then we get more ko’s

The first 3 comments made my fukking head hurt. I really can’t stand the majority of MMA fans.

I respect Freddie for his boxing knowledge but I dont like the way he speaks about mma fighters “fighting in straight lines” “not hard to figure out”, he is constantly giving backhanded compliments to mma fighters. IMO mma boxing is differant to traditional boxing and angles and foot work are not as important in mma because in boxing you dont have to worry about walking into a leg kick from hell or a double leg takedown.

Ya cool guys, real classy. Make fun of a guy with Parkinson’s disease. I suppose you clowns also disregard everything Stephen Hawkins says too, because it doesn’t matter what people say, it only matters what they sound like when they say it. You guys need to grow up. Pathetic.

If anyone has anything else bad to say about this great trainer and good guy, you come talk to me. I’m not gonna put up with that crap. Not now. Not ever.

Tallandsincere is anything but sincere. Every comment I see you make is disrespectful in some way, bro. You may be tall, but sincere? Pfft. You’re an asshole in my book.

Everyone turns into badasses and superman under the guise of anonymity of the internet. We have to realize that that same anonymity renders all of our opinions worthless.
With that said, I have to state my worthless opinion in regards to the fact that I think it’s a stepping stone for MMA in general that it has finally reached a point to where trainers like Freddie Roach are sharing their expertise with MMA fighters.
As far as Roach’s comment to Rua that he hits like a girl, I’m sure he meant it in a way that Rua’s not using his form, technique, torque and speed to its full potential. I’m going to assume that Rua’s reaction to that statement was more or less “What am I doing wrong?” instead of getting all defensive like some of the knee-jerk reactions of some of the posters here. That difference is probably a part of what separates a top fighter like Rua from all us commoners who post anonymously on internet boards.

Icolater: I don’t even know where to begin. Angles KEEP you from getting taken down or kicked in the leg. That’s why great strikers hit angles(every style, not just boxing), and even great wrestlers hit angles. MMA is still pretty new and because of the learning curve and the amount of techniques involved very few are truly good at any one thing and most of the ones that are have glaring weaknesses elsewhere. Freddy is talking technique. Most MMA guys(hell, even most boxers) lack a ton of it, but to say hitting angles is only for boxing tells me you don’t know much about fighting. Freddy is telling the truth. Most fighters having rudimentary skill sets are the the reason GSP has been so dominant(And BTW, GSP uses angles all the time).

Freddie is a cool guy from what I’ve witnessed, talented and has mastered his craft and Shogun is a brilliant Martial Artist/Champion
So naturally the two, after meeting would form a good relationship.
Personally I hope it pays off for the both of them;)

Glad to see so many people sticking up for Freddie. Man knows boxing better than almost anyone in the world. Manny Pacquiao owes a great deal of his success to training with him, not to mention the tons of MMA fighters who go to him to sharpen their skills. Nick Diaz DOES have great hands, but if he had the footwork to create challenging angles on top of that, he could be one of the best out there. As it is, he’s stubborn n repeatedly shoots himself in the foot where his training camps are concerned. Wish someone could get Nick Diaz to go see Freddie…

Anyone who just trashed talk Freddie Roach. Obvious who you are. Stop typing. You f*ing morons don’t know the fight game. You F*ing morons are the people everyone hates. Your opinion is invalid. Get a computer be a part time fan, everyone gets an opinion. How about some common sense. F*** off. Its a light hearted interview.. Bashers.. Step in the ring. I’m in Newfoundland Canada. Talk the big talk? Love to see you inside a regulated MMA cage. Nuff said

kimba007 Says, in 5-23-2013 at 23:55:27 from

Shogun went to Freddie for a reason. Freddie is a proven trainer of World Champions. When you are an MMA fighter and want to get better at striking you go to Freddie. Freddie is to Boxing as Gracie is to Jiu Jitsu. Manny Pacquiau owes his strategical success to Freddie. Julio Ceazar Chaves Jr goes to Freddie not his father. MMA is evolving and in order for you to reach the level of elite you must strike well.
