Dude Shamrock was a stud. If you think he fought nobodies then you either haven’t looked at his record or are too new to know who his opponents were. Notable wins over top talent include Tito, Bas Rutten, Funaki, Vernon White, Kosaka, Enson Inoue, Kevin Jackson, Igor, Horn, Sinosic, Cesar Gracie, Baroni…those were all top guys when he fought them, the last two were when he was aging but Baroni still had a lot in the tank.

He was obviously the top middleweight in the world for a couple of years, no question. He even took out Tito when Tito was unstoppable, and Tito outweighted him by a ton. Probably 20 pounds. Go watch that fight, it’s awesome.

Also his fights with Renzo, Cung Le and Diaz were pretty good. Those fights helped build MMA on Showtime.

He started fighting in 1994, retired in 2003, then came back out to help his buddy start a new show. That takes balls. Huge balls. Especially when the progress of the sport from 2003-2006 was exponential. Guys were getting a TON better during that time. He had to know he was in for a pounding.

And speaking of progress, he pioneered the modern MMA style. He was arguably the first well rounded fighter, even Bas during that era had a big weakness in wrestling. Tito couldn’t strike or sub worth a damn. Frank was doing it all. A complete technician.

He can be a bit of a boob, sure, but the guy could fight. No question.

Yeah we can smell the stench of koolaid that a “UFC-only” fan has from a mile away, but just because you have an “allegiance” to a promotional brand and its figure head Dana White, there is no need to s*** on a pioneer and legend of the sport. Franks done more than most in MMA.

For all the guys hating on Frank try using Google if you know what that is cause you don’t seem to know much.

I remember seeing that when I was a kid.I was really into pro wrestling back then and when I saw Frank knock Igor out and break his neck,I stopped watching every kind of pro wrestling.That was an amazing takedown and it shows how wrestling(real not WWF)can be deadly vs somebody who doesn’t know how to wrestle much.

Real fans respect Frank Shamrock unless they are idiots and douchebags.He was the 1st wrestler,submission grappler,and kickboxer there were guys like Ruas and Frye who were good at 2 dicsiplines but he was the 1st complete fighter.Just for that fact he should be a Legend.If there was an MMA Hall of Fame(real one not UFC) he would be one of the 1st inducted.You are a retard and should know more about MMA history before opening your mouth.i would’ve loved to see you back then when everybody was starting out and nobody really knew what style was effective.He already knew in the early 90s what was pretty much the most effective.If there is even 1% chance you would’ve had the balls to compete in the early UFC,your styles would’ve probably been ice breaking and weightlifting you numbskull.Have a nice day douche.

i’ll never forget when Frank Shamrock fought Igor Zinoviev, who i believe was undefeated at the time, and Frank slammed him on his shoulder and ended his career. For those who are too young, Frank was literally like water. He was a true martial artist..much respect!
