And Mir talking about how much technical he is, how great he is… I agree that he got skills but he is way below Fedor.
Fedor will kill him if he has the opportunity to meet him in a ring.

Fedor is king.

Fedor holds the cards – He’s playing the game very wisely. He is letting the hype build so much that the audience will eventually demand to see Fedor fight UFC’s #1. When he does come to UFC, he’ll make mega $$$. They paid mega $$$ for that douche Brock Lesnar, so why not throw a lot of money at Fedor?

No doubt who the #1 HW is, and I’ve been singing the Gospel about him since I joined this site 2 yrs ago. But I gotta say I’m soooooo sick of seeing him hanging around on the outskirts of the sport beating former champs and has-beens. He’s 33-34 now and only has about 5 good years left til the body starts to go. He needs to get his ass in the cage and fight the top guys now while there’s still time. And though I would LOVE to see him stomp a mud hole in Frank and Brock’s asses, I’m really starting to think it’s never gonna happen. He has wins over a lot of good fighters and could really hang it up now and walk away with his head held high, but being undefeated isn’t as important as cementing a Legacy and discrediting all the naysayers. I’m afraid he will eventually fade into obscurity like Rocky Marciano, who retired at 49-0 the only undefeated HW champ in history, yet is considered by very few to be the best because of the lack of top notch opponents he faced.

Steamer Bean Says, in 6-5-2009 at 12:47:33 from 208.95.202.2

Oh and I meant to point out, this would be the perfect time for Fedor to jump in their and take the HW belt because Mir is too slow and has some serious injuries and Brock is too raw (though he may evolve eventually). Amazing fighters are coming out of Brazil, (Anderson & Machida) and if he waits too much longer the super beast will soon emerge. A fully evolved HW with striking like Congo and ground work like Mir (It’s going to happen). At that point anybody Fedor’s size (6ft 220-230) will just be SOL no matter how skilled they are. When all else is equal, size matters and Fedor is a small HW.

UFC please get Fedor. The clock is ticking and I am not sure how much longer Fedor wants to stick around for…. Give him like a 5 mil signing bonus and a good fight deal(im sure its harder then that). I wish Fedor just wanted to do it to prove to everyone. Maybe UFC could break down and co-promote with M1 Global just a little bit. IDK I just want to see Fedor in the octagon. UFC should hold a show in Russia to tease him and let the Russians fans know whats up with the UFC. Just some ideas

ohh, come on guys…..you don`t really believe, that mir would have a chance against fedor. fedor is to fast for him, his ground game is on the same level and he has more power!!! the only one would be lesnar, because he has the power, he is fast….but he needs more fights and his tehnique….
fedor becomes older and there comes a timme, when a fighter would beat him, because he would be faster than fedor. but i´m still a fedor fan…he is a special fighter in his division…like silva and machida! maybe his next fight would be one of his difficult fights…

lets see, what happend in the fight: mir vs. brock
maybe a revange!?

I think people on this site are sometimes disillusioned. Brock will destroy Mir??? How is he actually going to pull that off?? if he stands up he get out boxed like Nog did. that was a total domination on the feet. And if he takes it to the ground with his little pink belt (purple) he will TAP period. I’ll admit brock is a beast but not a true champion. he’ll probly bore us to death by stalling out a control win by laying on mir for the whole fight. Brock will go down. And i really think Mir has a masterful mind in picking fighters weaknesses and could possible throw Fedor off his game plan. it could happen.. but Fedor still reigns at the top of the heavyweights. he doesn’t mess around he gets the job done…every time.

@ ;pingaloca:

So Mir beats an aged, worn fighter recovering from a Staph infection and HE’S the guy to put Fedor down?????

Nog never earned a W from Fedor and back in ‘04 Fedor was throwing Nog around like a rag doll. I like Nog and wanted him to take Mir, but he wasn’t there.

Mir would not walk all over Fedor. Mir poking a dog and poking Fedor with a stick is very different. Fedor is not unbeatable, but Mir doesn’t instantly get the odds here. Nor would he get a W.

mygif_alt
Niv Says, in 6-5-2009 at 17:30:09 from 174.1.55.243

I think Mir and Fedor would be a good fight, but the outcome would be a foregone conclusion as Fedor would rip him apart in the end.

Brock Lesnar is a very athletic huge beast, but at (33 years old?) he is too raw and does not have the time to develop the skills that Fedor and Mir have. I bet anyone that Fedor is every bit as strong as Brock and he’d manhandle him like nothing it wouldn’t even be close in my opinion.

I have to agree with something that Mir has stated over and over again, how do people convince themselves that Brock was so dominant when he lost his first fight in 90 seconds to Mir? I think he did club Mir in the back of the head, but even if it wasn’t stopped there I personally don’t think Mir was hurt at that point he was just covering up. Either way it doesn’t matter Brock hasn’t shown any huge skill since he’s arrived in the UFC so I can’t believe he will go without making a mistake which will cause him to tap out once again. Mir by submission late first round.

The funny thing is… EVERYONE has forgotten how good Fedor really is.

Every one is saying how AA had him in trouble… Fujita rocked him too… we all know how that ended.

Fedor is not only great at striking and grappling, he’s also great at playing mind games, and when the time comes… he finishes the fight.

Fedor always plays to his opponents strengths, if he feels he can’t roll with them, he’ll change the fight, but he always rolls with them… he beats them at their game… if Fedor felt he was in trouble against AA… he would have try taking AA down more than he did, but he kept the fight on his feet, he knew he could roll with AA.

In my opinion.. Fedor made AA look good by letting AA do what he wanted… except win.

Did Mir fight Nog on the ground?… and why?… he couldn’t roll with Nog on the ground…. Fedor did!

have you seen emelianenko vs. schilt?
or emelianenko vs. choi?

fedor is great in many ways, and one of those is adapting to his opponent and go after their weaknesses not their strenghts

if fedor wanted to beat semmy at his ‘game’ (but mma is no game) he would keep the fight standing up.

of course he did not do that.
fedor is 1.82m and semmy is 2.12m and a k-1 champion
you’d have to be a world class moron to keep the fight standing in fedor’s position

and at mma fedor is very very far from being a moron

Niv Says, in 6-5-2009 at 23:41:22 from 174.1.55.243

I agree with everyone that say AA was winning the first round against Fedor, so what? Henderson clearly was beating Anderson Silva in the first round of their fight and if it was a one round fight he’d be champ now, and if the Queen had balls she’d be king, so what?

Fedor did what he always does and that’s being the guy with his hand raised at the end of the fight. I personally didn’t see one point where he looked hurt or truly vulnerable, but AA was doing everything right until his flying knee. Whether AA made that mistake or not doesn’t mean his success would have continued another four rounds. It’s just as likely that would have been the only round he’d win, but once again so what? AA got ko’d and that’s a fact the rest is just fairy tales.

Fedor has proven he’s the best in the world time and time again, I would love to see him in the UFC but if he doesn’t go so be it. Maybe the UFC should do some co-promotions to prove who’s the best, it doesn’t have to be a one way street here.

Steamer Bean Says, in 6-6-2009 at 01:29:51 from 68.97.152.209

1.The only reason I’m not pissing myself laughing at the statement about Mir having crisper JJ than Fedor is because I doubt Fedor actually considers his ground fighting Jiu Jitsu. Though there’s no doubt where the moves come from (Jiu Jitsu), Fedor’s skills evolved from Combat Sambo. Regardless, Mir can latch on to a mistake and armbar someone no prob, but Fedor can scratch his own ass with your hand while waiting for the ref to notice you screaming in pain. Fedor puts snap on everything he does.

2. If a co-promotion is what it takes to make it happen, let’s cut the BS and get it done. Honestly I think the UFC has the buying power to make it happen on their own. It’s called negotiating. So the first attempt didn’t work. Try again. If the dude wants to compete in Sambo tourneys on the other side of the planet, who gives a damn? Seriously Dana. And if it takes signing him 1 fight at a time so he feels comfort in being able to leave at any time then so be it. Take the stipulations off the contract so there’s no more excuses. At the end of the day, if you want to be the premier organization, you have to put on the fights people want to see. And the fact that Lesnar got a title shot with a record of 1-1 tells me they understand that all too well.

3. This sport evolves at an amazing rate, and no one, not even The Emperor are above being passed by. He already let the fight with Randy pass him by. Case in point: he’s got a fight coming up with a very large, very smart and very game opponent. Will Barnett win? Doubt it. BUT, until it’s in the books anything can happen. I’m not buying into the crap about AA was picking him apart…but I gotta admit that’s probably the sloppiest I’ve seen Fedor look. The thing people seem to be overlooking there is Fedor ate some pretty good shots and didn’t flinch, but it only took one punch from Fedor and one of the greatest HWs in UFC history is now filed under “flying knee fail” or “face plant win”.

mygif
Danby Says, in 6-6-2009 at 02:03:28 from 65.95.235.29

Oh jeez. Why do they try to bait Fedor. Dana should just give him a good contract and be done with it. Fedor doesn’t care about titles and all the bs, he just like to fight.

BUT he also like to do matches when he want to do them too. Dana is too much of a control freak to give him a normal open contract.

I really think Fedor was dragging the Arloski fight out so the fans would get a little more out of it. If he keeps beating people in like 20 seconds, no one will want to watch anymore. He didn’t look like himself during the arloski fight.

Fedor may well not want to join the UFC for the good of the sport, as if he joins, sooner or later all the really great fighters who aren’t already in UFC will have to join (such as Arlovski, Barnett and Aoki to name just a few). And then Dana will be able to make as many ridiculous demands as he likes as there will be no serious competition. Though the UFC belt is the most prestigious and I agree with Mir that though Fedor (in my opinion at least top 3 pound for pound in the world) is not in the UFC, the UFC does have the best pool of talent, if anything great fighters should go to other up and coming promotions such as Affliction, as otherwise Dana’s just going to keep screwing over the fighters because they have no choice but to fight in the UFC. If anything Dana if failing the sport of mma by not changing his contract for Fedor, if we never see the UFC’s best fight Fedor, if wil be Dana White’s fault.
