Hey I know all the macho bloggers are going to come out of the woodwork and call Mir a pussy now. Personally even though I feel he’s going to lose against Noguiera doesn’t matter. He was heavyweight champion of the UFC and he’s a guy who obviously cares about his fighters, good on him.

I think it shows that Mir does care, which is good, because the way he carries himself on the show really comes across as arrogant. That said, him taking responsiblity for the loss is ridiculous. Kaplan wasn’t the better fighter and he was stupid to take punches like that. Maybe he wanted to be like Junie? Or maybe he was too busy remembering capitals of countries to duck.

Just because someone cries does not make them a puss, in this sport if half of your keyboard warriors actually train would know that you become emotionally attached to people. Even though this is in a reality series I wouldn’t think that would stop you from being human.

While he may be a prick at times, and maybe was a bigger one before he was so severely injured in that motorcycle accident, that CHANGES people(been there…). Mir liked one guy on this show, and that was Dave, which makes the fight that little bit more worth it to him. He isn’t crying for Kaplan or even for the show…he just knows Nog has his number and is going to beat him in everything, coaching and fighting, hands down!

Mir has always been cocky and just cz he likes one person on the show doesn’t make any less of a dick. I am sure Nog is upset about all his losses as well.

He gives a s**t. Can you hold that against him? The guy wanted Kaplan to win and is questioning himself whether he should’ve done something differently. Maybe he shouldn’t have done it in front of Kaplan – who, ultimately, is to blame for losing the fight – but he has every reason to think about it.

I don’t think Mir gives a damn about whether some MMAniacs think he’s a pussy. He’s man enough to show emotion and man enough not to care about the opinions of some people he’s never met.

While this clip does humanize Mir, it also calls into question his judgement. Just watch the most recent ep of TUF where Kaplan keeps on with his “I have NEVER been knocked out!” and then urges a light heavyweight to take a free shot at his chin, KO’ing him like grandma after taking a flying brick to the face. Then Kaplan goes on to deny he was KO’d for the rest of the show…
Any fighter who goes in wanting to prove how strong his chin is will surely be beaten. It takes brains to win a fight, not just a good jaw.

i dont care much for kaplan, but i have nothing but respect for frank mir from watching this video. thats the kind of coach you want, one that gives a flying fuck about you and your career as much as his own.
