Tito looked good in rounds 1-2 then seemed to let up for some reason in round 3. Forrest looks washed. Weak stand up no ground game.

Tito vs. Rashad Evans should be next.

I think Forrest should have got a Unanimous, not a split, he shut down Tito’s so-called “comeback,” Forrest completely won all rounds. Round 1=10-9 Forrest, Round 2=10-9 Forrest, Round 3=10-8, or 10-7, Forrest. Griffin is back is all I gotta say.

I didn’t dig this fight at all. Tito should start thinking about retirement if this is how he is gonna fight. And as for Forrest, I’ve never really been a fan of his and Anderson Silva really put him in his place in his last fight. Dana promotes the shit out of this guy because he made TUF what it is, but aside from that Forrest never became a champion and never defended his championship IMO.

Listen to Ortiz talk at the end of the fight. This is why people don’t like Ortiz. He tries to come across as a gracious and respectful guy, but he’s not. He could of just said “Forrest” was the better man, but he starts rattling off excuses of why he lost. Overall though, a good fight and Forrest got a deserved victory. Ortiz had one good round, but was unable to do the kind of damage he did in their first fight and wasn’t able to secure take downs.

I think we should just stifle any potential robbery talk right here and now, Forrest most definetely won round 3 and round 2 was close, but Forrest outworked him in the first while Tito only had the one takedown and a few elbows on the ground which in my mind didn’t win him that round.

Still great fight for both guys and I’m glad to see Forrest get a chance to redeem himself.

that would be a dumb fight. rashad has a lot going for him right now against thiago silva/rampage hopefully. but just because tito is back doesnt mean he should fight everyone he lost or had controversial decisions/losses/wins against. that’s a stupid suggestion. i can see tito fighting the loser from the franklin vs. jardine fight or brandon vera. i think tito needs to take his time before he starts fighting tier fighters again.

he really needs to work on his cardio and heart. he needs that baroni heart LOL

It always looks bad when losing fighters talk about their injuries right after a loss. It’s even worse when they lecture the crowd for booing them. Just take your loss and give the credit to your opponent. That’s why Forest is so popular, he exudes humility.

Well, this was was almost a reverse image of their first fight. Tito won a dominant first round in the first fight followed by two close rounds. In this fight, Forrest won a dominant third round and there were two close rounds. They both won close decisions.

Much like Matt Hughes, you can talk about his age as a factor but Tito’s game just hasn’t evolved.

imhungry Says, in 11-22-2009 at 14:06:51 from 70.45.175.153

I really don’t think Tito won the first round. Yeah he got the TD, but he didn’t hold onto it for very long nor did he do any real damage (unlike the first fight) and from then on Forrest stuffed the TD’s and dominated the stand up, so I give the first round to Forrest.

Second round Tito got a good TD but again didn’t mount a significant offense from in, IMO. Then Forrest knocked his mouth piece with that front kick to the face which nice to see =P. Tito got the second TD of the round and cut Forrest open but then Forrest reversed him and tried to land some shots, which I think did hurt when he hit Tito in the body and those shirt elbows didn’t look like pillows. Still that round is hard score, it could have gone either way.

Third round was all Forrest, no question. He picked Tito apart where as Tito didn’t do much of anything except gt two TD attempts stuffed and try and strike, only to get manhandled.

Way I see it, Forrest won the split because the judges gave Tito the second round due to the 2 successful TD’s. But you can make the case that Forrest still dominated the stand up and managed to reverse Tito, giving Forrest the second round as well.

Point is, IMO, Forrest won this fight hands down. And maybe I’m biased because I’m a Forrest fan, but I really don’t see any way you can score this as a win for Tito.

Forrest is always so humble and I’m impressed he admitted how Anderson broke him and now he’s managed to pick himself up and defend Tito when he got booed. I would like to see a third fight in which Forrest would knock Tito out cold =D Might not happen if they fight again, but I do think that if Forrest keeps improving he can win a third fight easily. But I would much rather see Forrest fight someone else.

I have absolutely no interest in seeing a Ortiz vs Griffin 3. This is the best Ortiz will get. He’s lying to himself if he thinks he can be world champion again. And lately it seems like Forrest has taken one too many punches to the head.
Whats a 3rd fight going to prove? If Forrest wins again, it would just prove that he can beat a washed-up has-been who hasn’t won a fight in 3 years (and that win was against Ken Shamrock).
If Tito wins, that would just show that he can beat a guy who didn’t come close to having the skills to deal with champ Anderson Silva when he fought him. Thats not much of a stepping stone for Tito if he indeed wants to try to climb back to the top.

What was the point of this fight? We all knew that Ortiz was going to loose. He’s been done for several years now. Did we need Griffin to confirm that A. Silva destroyed his life, no! We already knew that. So what now Dana? All the money, talk and hype for this?!? A set of garbage fighters!?? Seriously, you and your little entourage of buddies need to re-evaluate what makes this sport special. I’ll give you a hint, it’s has nothing to do with money! You need to sign quality fighters not promotional gimmicks! Fedor, Mousasi, Le etc!

did anybody else see 30-27 Griffin? Forrest spent most of the first round and all of the second on his back. A sweep with thirty seconds left dosen’t win you a round after you’ve spent the whole round eating elbows while on your back dosen’t give you the round. Never been much of a Tito fan and I love Forrest, but robbing Tito in this fight dosen’t make up for forrest getting robbed in the last one. Also, what warrants a 10-8 round in MMA? that third round should have deffinently been a 10-8 round for Forrest. Ortiz attempted one shot that got stuffed then just got blasted in the face the rest of the time. at the very least shoud have been a draw or decison for Ortiz

LEFTHOOKLARRY Says, in 11-23-2009 at 10:24:02 from 97.88.199.46

Okay people – the fight wasn’t even that close to make a case for Tito. if you have all that love for Tito, you need to let it go. It was an embarrasment – A few overrated take downs was basically all he could muster. Forrest was always pushing forward, landing shots and working on the knee. The last round alone tells you enough about how the fight went. Tito was hurt and NOT from a cracked skull. DO YOU THINK he would have been cleared to fight with a cracked skull?

When he started making up BS and was called out by the fans, he changed his tune and started talking about the show. At no time did he even think he won the fight. He went directly to his “injury” report instead of stating how he was robbed, the judges were incorrect , blah blah blah. He even went over to try to sell Forrest another fight becuase he knew what the decision was going to be.
If Tito knew he lost the fight, why can’t you? Who cares if one judge saw it 30-27? If Tito won one round, it was a razor’s edge. I give him one round out of pity and the decison was correct. Unanomous – not even questionable.

An Ortiz vs. anyone would make as much sense as brining back Frank Shamrock. A fighter only has so many fights – that’s a fact and sometimes hard for fighter’s to admit – and in this case – some fans as well.

I don’t understand why some people say that Tito got robbed by that decision in this fight. In my opinion Giffin clearly won the fight, he was able to land way more shots than Ortiz did not to mention that he also defended Tito’s takedowns on the last round. Some people argue that Tito was able to ground and pound him in the first round and that’s why he won the fight. However, Forrest was able to avoid most of the ground and pound from Ortiz except from that nasty elbow that cut him and even then he was able to reverse Ortiz and give him some ground and pound too. I think it was decent judging not like Machida vs Shogun and Vera vs Couture that was B.S.

I’m thinking Tito reinjured his back at the very end of round 2. Thats why he did absolutely nothing in round three. Thats the only explanation. Even if he was gassed he would still have done more. Mark Coleman does more then that when he is gassed.

Forrest will win the 3rd fight if it happens. Tito did not win a single round. Only what two, three takedowns? That aint nothing. Forrest was defending from his guard, and he dominated in the stand-up game. Everyone should stop making excuses for Ortiz, including himself. And that 30-27 score for griffin was correct. Round 3 was obviously 10-7 round. Tito sux ass needs to retire, and Forrest will be back to his old self soon.

It is time for MMA to change rules.
Ref should get power to extend round by round up to 5 rounds for that even fights. Judges must be the last not first resort.
All the time one of the fighters will be unhappy with decision. At the same time most MMA fighters have endurance to go longer than 15 min.
