God! After watching the whole video, it seems pretty obvious that MMA is way more aggressive, way more unpredictable, way more difficult, way more real, way more versatile, way more direct, way more attractive, way more spectacular, way more everything!! It is just a matter of time that MMA gets as big as boxing, and waaaay more!!!

I don’t like the ref constantly breaking them up, he should have let them fight out of the clinch more.

Robert’s too slow for Mayweather, he kept up in the first 4-5 rounds, but after that you could see he couldnt keep up.

kung fu k9 Says, in 5-5-2013 at 10:32:40 from

the fathers fighting would of been more exciting to watch lol

even at the elite level, boxing is just to painful to watch, i get bad ADD with it now…this comes from what used to be a huge boxing fan…

greengiant Says, in 5-5-2013 at 10:47:44 from

I agree with the boring comments. MMA is way more exciting then boxing football or anything really. I used to be a big football fan but it seems lame because i become fans of certain teams of certain players and they always get traded, hurt etc.

greengiant Says, in 5-5-2013 at 10:51:08 from

Also mayweather is very good at defense and avoiding shots,he is not an exciting fighter to me. I can name so many great exciting fighters from the past that didn’t make nearly what this pud makes. They were real fighters willing to get in their and take a risk, mayweather is way too safe to be making that big money. It goes to show how low boxing has become when a guy like that is the star.

ustabeluke Says, in 5-5-2013 at 10:57:56 from

Boxing is so hard to watch, we really need a change in format. It’s just not interesting enough to hold me for 12 rounds anymore. I would like to see 7 five minute rounds and clinching made illegal. Fighters should receive no more than one warning (per fight) for clinching and every clinch after that they are deducted 1/4 point. If you’re hurt and clinch to avoid being knocked out it is a 2 point deduction. I’ve watched boxing more about 35 years and it has never made sense that you can’t “hold and hit” but you can “hold to avoid being hit”. Pretty boring fight for a high profile fight like this.

baby 2pack Says, in 5-5-2013 at 11:14:04 from

boxing is entertaining, jus not mayweather fights lol. mayweather handpicks people he can beat. there are good boxing fights out there guys. pacquaio fights are entertaining as F***

Kickboxing has it right.3 rounds.Go all out for 3 rounds.4th round if it’s a draw.Title fight 6 rounds.I don’t blame the boxers. How do they expect 2 guys to fight 36 minutes and not pace theirselves?

T’Challa Says, in 5-5-2013 at 12:27:32 from

I think that any fighter that fights “safe” in either boxing or MMA will be called “boring”. It’s true a competitive fight is more entertaining, and seeing guys trade shots back and forth is what gets most casual fans excited. Still, on a technical level I can appreciate the absolute dominance that Mayweather displayed here. Him and GSP have a lot in common, hit and don’t get hit.

KungFuLowKick Says, in 5-5-2013 at 16:07:09 from

Of course he would he won the heavyweight title and Floyd can fight at 135 probably even lower.

straightAhead Says, in 5-5-2013 at 16:11:39 from

It amazes me how you guys claim he (and Machida) are boring for taking less punishment than anyone else and being defensive. So he should risk his long term health and quality of life when he is older just for your entertainment. OK so lets say he started takiing more shots for your viewing pleasure: How many of you are willing to help help him use the bathroom in a few years or help him out financially when he gets old just because he took more risks just to please u? None of you cowards would help. All he would get is a pat on the back and a handshake from you and you would say thanks for the memories champ.

If i had his skills i would fight exactly as he does and laugh all the way to the bank to cash my checks to collect my money while you losers complain how boring i am – LOL

boonching Says, in 5-5-2013 at 17:24:54 from

a shutout as expected, couldn’t even watch the whole thing. I wish they had smaller gloves, fewer rounds, kicks, takedowns, subs…

ash Says, in 5-5-2013 at 19:00:47 from

floyd is fighting not to lose.. he’s at his point now where he will never take a risk in the fight because he’s got everything to lose. all of his fight from now on will be a boring super safe point fest on handpicked opponents (that nobody knows) until he retires.

TRA the mens rea Says, in 5-5-2013 at 21:41:29 from

I bought the ppv for this fight. The undercard fights were good and the main event was good.

Floyd gets a bad rap in his style. He does look to avoid punishment and like StraightAhead mentioned who’s going to take care of him if his brain and body turn to mush.

Floyd is clever. He showed in the 8th that he can go t-t-t and beat a guy up but after that he was back to hit and move. I think he does that just to show he can do it and drive up sales.

I’d agree that Floyd uses strategy in picking his opponents. That said Guerrero was the mandatory challenger so he could have chose to lose a belt.

Floyd has fought everyone (besides pacman and I’d say he didn’t want to fight margarita). But for exciting fights he’s fought champions in his last fights: Mosely (tough but old), Ortiz (tough and young), Cotto (tough as they come), and Guerrero (younger and tough).

Floyd is a master of the craft and I give him props for that. I like MMA also (big time) but they are just different sports.

PowerTele Says, in 5-6-2013 at 01:49:17 from

To say a boxer is tough is an obvious statement. To go one round at any level is tough. To make it to professional level means you are skilled and can take some serious damage. Boxing hand picks them and Floyd avoids those who may present a serious challenge. He only fights others they had a chance once they have worn and someone has beaten them. Mosely was done, Cotto had been beaten. Zab was getting old. Floyd needs to fight a true challenger. I don’t buy boxing because you can pick the challenger. That ain’t a sport. I teach school and I cannot pick my students. I have to teach whoever, no matter the background, belief, attitude, upbringing, and heartache they are going through. Boxing needs a definite organization that makes everyone fight the best competition or lose your belts. And no one needs 8 belts. That is just greedy.

PowerTele Says, in 5-6-2013 at 01:50:30 from

If I could pick my students do you know I would get Teacher of the Year every year. I would look amazing. I would write books about how good I am and not expose the truth that it was all a setup and my students came from families that prepared them that way.

shambz Says, in 5-6-2013 at 05:00:24 from

so floyd just dodges punches through out the fight, and when he hits robert, he runs around the ring. i mean, his athleticism is insane, but you can tell that he wasn’t trying to knock robert out at all!

robert was trying, but you can see he just couldn’t keep up

EXPm Says, in 5-6-2013 at 08:26:36 from

It’s the same as GSP, he also fights not to loose, he has boring ass fights, he doesn’t take chances anymore.

ustabeluke Says, in 5-6-2013 at 10:57:54 from

There is nothing wrong with fighting not to lose except it being boring. Of course a game plan that involves avoiding being hurt is a good one. The problem is the rules that take away the opponents tools to neutralize that game plan. A good game plan against someone that wants to avoid a fight is to back them in a corner where they don’t have a choice. The real problem is clinching. Until they start taking points for it nothing will change. Floyd was constantly holding the left hand Robert.

ghernandez Says, in 5-6-2013 at 12:25:48 from

The only reason this fight was boring was because Robert couldnt do anything to Money May! Money May is just at a completly different level.

Money May all day! Says, in 5-6-2013 at 13:52:05 from

You all are a bunch of haters! You don’t appreciate the sweet science. Floyd is greater than Ricardo Lopez and Joe Calzaghe now!

kbf Says, in 5-6-2013 at 16:22:57 from

Floyd has done it all! Great foot work, fantastic hand speed, amazing head movement. Too many complainers here. The only thing Floyd can do to make these haters here happy is loose. Oops sorry he won. LOl LOl Lol.

TRA the mens rea Says, in 5-6-2013 at 20:22:25 from

@ powertele

You say he picked the fighter. That’s not exactly true: Guerrero was the mandatory challenger so Floyd could have not fought and lost his belt. You said Judah was old (he’s younger than Floyd), Mosely (I’d agree he was old but the fight before he just beat Antonio Margarito as was ranked number 1 by Ring for the welterweights), Cotto had only lost to the cheater Margarito and Pacman before Floyd, Hatton (was undefeated), Corrales (undefeated), Gatti (had just put together a 5 fight streak), Ortiz (should have had better parents to teach him not to headbut), but what? Who do you want Floyd to fight? C. Alverez? Garcia? Who should he fight?
As for having 8 belts and that being greedy should Silva quit fighting because he has too many title defenses. Should an Olympic athlete stop competing because they have 8 gold metals? Should the Yankees be barred from any more World Series? Should a kid in class that gets all As start getting Cs and give that A to the C student so they can feel good? What’s up with that?

mma made easy Says, in 5-7-2013 at 02:08:41 from

Also, what’s with all the complaining? Its boxing. Different from MMA, I love watchin’ floyd work.

lefthook Says, in 5-8-2013 at 00:16:19 from

Floyd has all the skill and is the greatest boxer of his time, but his fights are boring as well as his style.

What makes boxing great is a competitive fight and a fighter who is willing to the challenge and goes for broke exploiting all his skill to take the other fighter out. Floyd has the ability and the talent to but his style is safe counterpunching.
