For you who care not to butcher his name it is pronounced: ˈfjɵdər. In a more street friendly way it is pronounced like “fyoder”. I cant blame the casual fan, but I have no idea why all the commentators don’t make any effort to pronounce his name properly. What would you think if everyone in latin america call GSP Horhe Santo Pierre?

Please people listen to me because i know it all (-: Fedor is unquestionably the badest man on the planet, and as for brock lesnar well let me make this comparison, back when oscar de la hoya was 32 & 0 in his prime only the best had the right to challenge him, mr steroid 4 & 1 brock lesnar needs to get his numbers up and beat the heavyweights in the UFC before challenging the cream of the crop which is Mr G.O.D himself the great fedor. I never want to see that fight because as a life long fan of first boxing and now MMA i am totally against giving someone a shot at the title who doesn’t deserve it, when brock beat randy couture he beat a 44 year old dinosaur not a young proud heavyweight champion, brock has been hand fed one tomato after another and whats funny is that one of those tomatoes submitted him (-: what i would like to see is brock lesnar vs butterbean or lesnar vs zap! can anyone say freak show?

The ignorant Fedor fanboys are getting old. Fedor could fight Bob Sapp and Hong Man Choi over and over for the rest of his career, and they wouldn’t care.

There are probably 20 fighters in the UFC, across 3 different divisions, who would have stopped Rogers the nobody in the first round.

Fedor isn’t even fighting for the Strikeforce belt. He isn’t even getting a title shot in his next fight.

It’s a joke. Eventually I’d like to see him against real competition.

Regarding your “. . . fight in Mother Russia.,” it is actually a pretty good idea. If they were to put that fight in Moscow, which actually has quite a few people with good money, at least enough to sell 50,000 tickets in the Luzhniki Stadion and would sell out any other major venue there. Americans would buy because of the mystique and the nationalistic fervor.

In most Slavic languages, including Russian (East Slavic), a word, including a name, is pronounced and spelled in different ways, depending on the usage. This is not only dialectical (it’s funny using these words on an mma site, but some of you guys really impress me), but rather due to the language.

Fedor is a class act.
