Pride 21 fight video featuring Fedor Emelianenko versus Semmy Schilt from June 2002.

I have had a lot of people talking about Schilt’s lack of MMA skills and that he is only a good kickboxer. This fight against Fedor was back in 2002 and Schilt’s ground game has gotten much better since this fight.

Schilt’s camp has said that they have been in contact with Fedor’s people about finalizing a bout for a Euro show in the near future. This could turn out to be a good fight. Schilt has already proven to been one of the few that can go the distance with Fedor.

I wonder what a fight between Semmy and Sylvia would look like if Semmy improved his takedown defense. I wonder how that plays in on the discussion who is number one of Fedor or Sylvia, if Sylvia wins saturday. Of course Pride was pride and not UFC.

I don’t see a fight between Fedor and Schilt being much different today. Has Schilt’s ground game improved? Probably, but so has Fedor’s. And Fedor’s standup has probably improved as well. That armbar in the first round was sloppy, otherwise he might’ve finished this fight a lot earlier.

As for Sylvia, even if he crushes Nogueira, he’s not even on the same field as Fedor in terms of being #1. For one thing, Sylvia has lost a few times. He’s been dropped, submitted, dominated, and put out some very lacklustre fights. Fedor has been virtually invincible. It’s not even close. The real talk is whether Randy or Fedor is #1. That fight has to happen.

Yes, that fight does have to happen. It is the only real question, and the defining act of each of their careers. All other “is this guy better then this guy” questions are just wanking when it comes to the HWs. Randy is fantastic. Fedor is fantastic. COME ON DANA, LET’S SEE IT HAPPEN!!!

Mefninja, you can’t dump on a guy just because he doesn’t sign with the organization you want. I would like to see him in the UFC too, but we don’t know what factors went into it. Was the money too paltry? Was he offered substantially more by M-1? Was the contract too big or too small? Were there non-agreeable clauses?

I don’t think Fedor is really afraid to fight anyone. What makes him overrated? He has dispensed of everyone put in front of him. I think he wants to fight Couture and I think it will eventually happen (in M-1).

Drew I agree with you 100%. Fedor has fought everyone they put in front of him and he’s beaten them.

They’ve put expert BJJ fighters like Noguiera in front of him 3 times. All 3 times he pounds the crap out of the guy. Noguiera has 4 losses in total at Pride that should say something in itself. He beats Cro Cop when he was on top of his game, he beats guys like Coleman and Randleman, both ex UFC Heavyweight Champs. I guess beating UFC Champs doesn’t mean anything if you’re not fighting them in the UFC.

Everyone has their opinion and they’re entitled to it, but calling Fedor a coward is just fucking bullshit! It’s easy to sit anonymously behind a computer screen and call these guys cowards, that says more about us than them.

Anyone who might want a little perspective here might want to Google “The man in the ring” by Theodore Roosevelt, that poem says it all as far as I’m concerned.

It just bothers me, remeber how liddel and silva where supose to fight for soo long but it didnt happen. Still everyone person involved tried soo hard to make it happen, then it did happen!!! it was nearly the same with fedor and couture. Couture faught everyone he possibly could at the top of the heavy weight (discluding crocop cause he couldnt handle it, and nog.) he wanted fedor everyone wanted that fight. Fedor walked away with it and now it will never happen. Yea sure there are a few other reason he states.. but the fact is, a fighter at the top of your game.. you should seek out these fights.. fedor walked away from it.. he doesnt care for better compitetion.. thats why i dont respect him.. thats why coutures 16-8 record means way more than fedors 28-1 couture a true champ!! He seeked out to fight real fighters and sometimes he lost but he only faught the top game. fedor has faught people who shouldnt even be in mma. according to Fedor, the UFC contract states that:

Like I have said many times, as long as Dana is at the UFC helm, I don’t think the UFC will be the best MMA organization in the wold, since they do all the over hyping, and padding of records to make money, they don’t care about the best product, they care about the best results money wise.

Dirty 7-30, do you have a link to that interview, I do not doubt for one second that Fedor wants Randy. I saw an interview where he once stated that he wanted to fight Randy and that he admired him.

What I’m curious about is the statement that he was not allowed to leave the UFC undefeated. That is a huge allegation of fight fixing coming from the very top guy in the sport.
