Fedor Emelianenko lost to Bulgaria’s Blagoi Ivanov this past weekend by a score of 8-5 in the semifinals of the 2008 World Combat Sambo Championships in St. Petersburg, Russia.

I jumped on the Houston Alexander train, (my mistake) ive jumped on the KenFlo train when he beat Joe, ive BEEN on the Lesnar train since i heard his MMA debut and i ordered that PPV! But i have NEVER NEVER been on the Fedor train. Why? Because i think hes a wash back fighter. Not p4p nothing, he just uses speed and beats up people bigger then him. Also he may be the anti-christ.

I don’t know Sambo but the guy in red one that fight…on the other hand in a true MMA fight this would have gone on for a bit longer and it seemed that Fedor’s boxing was getting alot sharper and was more relaxed than the guy in red towards the end…anyway who cares right? I would brag if I beat Fedor at checkers, but to beat him at Sambo….that’s something to be proud of. Doesn’t mean he’s washed up or that he’s over rated or anything like that. He’s still one of the best fighters to ever live.

Fedor beats up everyone and will continue to do so. He is far above and beyond Alexander Houston, KenFlo, and Lesnar. The only person I know of that could even be remotely compared to Fedor is Mir before his motorcycle accident, when he was unbeatable. sambo has alot of rules that are different then MMA that doesnt give the fighter alot of freedom but anyways:
1- watch that guy slips outside the circle every time he is in bad situation
2- the head helmets.
3- its not the first loss to fedor in sambo championship but ppl are trying to find any loss to fedor to set him back to human level but he isnt!.

It’s just a sambo tournament.. Not mma.. Sambo tournaments include different strategies and rules than PRIDE or UFC.. Regardless of his loss, it won’t affect his mma record or his reputation.

Good for Ivanov what a feather in his cap! If anyone thinks this loss means anything about Fedor’s status as the top MMA fighter in the world they are out of their minds.
Fedor is the mythical beast every man fighting in combat sports wants to slay. Good luck to all of them, Fedor is human but I haven’t seen one guy yet that I think will beat him in an MMA fight.

At the present Mir is no comparison to Fedor, however, before Mir’s had to give up the belt due to his accident, he was unstoppable. Those were probably his best days and it is unlikely he will get back to that level. That was back when he was breaking people’s bones and such. If only we could take the Mir of then and put him in front of Fedor. That would be a good fight.

Just aoff the top of my head, Fedor has beaten Nogera a couple of times, Mark the Hamer Coleman, Big Daddy Goodrich, Kevin Randleman…I believe that all of these have held or do hold titles in the UFC…and he, in most cases, didn’t just beat them, he demolished them. There is no “ballwashing” going on..facts are facts. Proof is proof. Dreaming is dreaming which is exactly what anyone who thinks the UFC has ANYONE that can beat Fedor is doing.

Yeah… and Randy Couture only made the US Olympic team; and Mat Hughes never even came CLOSE to making the American Olympic team, let alone making it to the semi-finals in a world championship. What world championship did Anderson Silva ever win outside of MMA? GSP? Rampage? Forest? … Didn’t think so. Thanks for uploading this. I admire Fedor even more now. His determination to continue Combat Sambo was part of the reason he decided not to sign with the UFC, there contract wouldn’t allow him to fight in sambo. Keep doing your thing Fedor.

Fedor losing the 2008 Sambo Championships decisively in the finals is a big deal. His first lost in any combat sport since 2000. Will this affect him mentally and his performance in the upcoming Affliction fight? I don’t think so but we’ll see because AA is a big test.

I think Fedor’s loss at Sambo has actually done wonders for the sports popularity in north america.
UFC nuthuggers whose only knowledge of MMA is Randy Couture’s mediocre career have for the first time in their lives viewed something different. Had he won, no one would have cared.
Big props to Fedor for doing his part to spread his martial art.
And even bigger props to Fedor for taking part in the next ADCC.
Chances are pretty good that he wont win that either but many in his position would not dare to show weakness in other martial arts.
I imagine that Roger Gracie and Xande Ribeiro will be at this years ADCC.
THat would be AMAZING.
