Fedor And Hong-Man Choi Pre Fight Photo Shoot Yarennoka

This was the first face to face meeting between Fedor Emelianenko And Hong-Man Choi.

The two made their mandatory appearance photos for Yarennoka! (YAREN! Year’s Eve! 2007). As expected you can see quite a size difference between the two. Fedor is not a tiny man as he is coming in at 6ft tall and 235lbs. Hong-Man Choi’s monstrous size will shrink any normal man standing near. At 7ft 2 inches tall and 360lbs it is going to be interesting to see if Fedor can throw such a man around like he is accustom to doing to his opponents.

We will get to see if Fedor is carrying any ring rust around after having not fought in an MMA bout since last April when he fought Matt Lindland. Hong-Man tends to press his opponents from the opening bell with powerful jabs and solid knees to the head. Don’t expect the fight to last very long either way.

Come on guys!? Seriously? Have you ever seen Choi fight? I’m not saying he’ll crush Fedor, but his size really is too much for any man. Even if it goes to the mat, I’m sure he’ll be able to push Fedor off. Fedor is going to actually have to break a limb to end this one. I call Choi the winner by TKO. This is sad, because I really thought Fedor would always be unstoppable, but sometimes amazing technique, is nothing when your opponent is 14inches taller and 125 lbs heavier than you.

Triple H is a force to be reckoned with Gerbil, that much is for sure. It’s common knowledge that the Undertaker has been training hard and is looking to tombstone Fedor, Randy and of course…Hightower and War Machine.
Fedor is amazing but I don’t like this match-up for him, although he should clean this circus freak. Shall be entertaining either way.

Fedor schooled another giant K1 fighter by the name of Semy Schilt. Schilt is the reigning K1 champion and had his ass handed to hiom by Fedor several years ago.

Schilt is another mountain of a man with greater skills than Choi. Schilt I believe is 6′11″ tall and weighs 295 lbs, a giant by anyones standard.

Fedor is too skilled on the ground to be beaten by Choi. He’s going to submit him on the ground.

Does anyone here remember Royce Gracie submitting Yokozuna? Royce weighed in at 180 lbs compared to Yokazuna’s near 500 lb frame. Gracie submitted him in something like 2 minutes. Get real people, skill will overcome size.

Perhaps making reference to “great names” in the MMA game like Hightower and War Machine was inappropriate. Mentioning WWE fighters was in light of Gerbil’s comment, as I found it quite amusing and decided to offer a comical rebuttal DUDE.

it must be noted though, that hong man is not your ordinary big, dumb freak show. hong man is not like other giant freaks… he is not crippled like other guys his size, and he can move around. somewhat. and he actually has some skills. good striker. but he sucks on the ground, where fedor will undoubtedly be able to rear naked choke his ass or arm bar. he has decent cardio.

i am about 70% sure that fedor will beat his ass.

BUT if fedor loses, it’s because hong man will smother him.

Choi Hong man beat Semmy Schilt who fedor beat as well. Choi Hong Man is a K-1 Champion of 2005. I think Fedor is going to win but i wouldn’t be suprised if Choi Hong Man won either

I can’t believe I am actually hearing this….most of you think Hong Man Choi will beat Fedor? Have any of you even watched the K-1 fight from last year where he took the title from Gary Goodridge? The guy is just big. He has no technique or skill. His one attribute is he is big. Also, let’s look at how most K-1 fighters have done in MMA…especially at the heavyweight levels. They have done horribly…mostly because they are just big dudes who go into heavyweight K-1 and just hit eachother with little attention to technique or skill. Fedor took out Gary Goodridge in Pride much faster than Hong Man Choi did in K-1 and in a much more convincing fashion. When Fedor was done with him he was face down on the mat not standing up. Also, Fedor has knocked out and submitted other guys who were much bigger than him many times in the past. He is actually quite a small heavyweight. Yeah, hong man choi is big and Fedor might not be able to pick him up but a sweep or a trip or a heel tap doesn’t require that. I wonder how good Hong Man Choi’s balance is. Judging from the fights I have seen and the giants lack of coordination I would say his balance probably sucks. Lastly, Hong Man Choi is very big but he is not muscularly massive so I doubt he could throw Fedor around either…especially on the ground. Fedor beats him easily in the first round by submission, knockout, or whatever else he feels like that night. For that matter any of the top name heavyweights could kick Hong Man Choi’s ass. Size without strength, technique, coordination, or anything else that makes a good fighter means nothing when it is put up against skilled MMA fighter.

it is possible for fedor to beat choi in standup as well. lebanner and mighty mo both beat choi via textbook technique and a gameplan that couldnt be more simple than it was(mo koed choi). the only problem here is that fedor isnt as big as lebanner and mighty mo and as an mma fighter, his standup skills are not as good as for eg lebanners. but still, his standup should be good enough for choi. i dont think leg kicks can hurt choi. imo it would be better to hit him in the face because he’s not very used to that. if fedor manages to rock him, he should take him down to the ground in a nanosecond and make sure to land on top(its hard to balance the takedown when someone is that huge) and go for the gnp or a submission.

so, for me the key to fedors victory is going under choi’s guard and then hard punching his face and then backing out just to do it again and again. and when hes ‘ready’(rocked) go for the takedown, land on top and gnp or submit him.

choi, however, has a solid chance of winning if he has learnt anything from his fights with mo and lebanner. if he wants to win he has to save his energy and keep the distance. throwing knees would make things easier for fedor (easy takedown) so he needs to use his arms only(he never kicks anyway). he should throw jabs to collect points and he should go for the ko or tko only if he manages to rock fedor, not before that because we all know how hard fedors chin is and also his recovery time is quick.
this will be a good fight. i give fedor a 55:45 chance to win only because of two obvious reasons: 1)he’s been out for a while and 2) choi’s size

Why are you retards talking about WWE “fighters”? I use that word very loosely. Fedor is going to keep kicking the crap out of crappy fighters until he comes to the UFC and fights actual MMA competition. Cro Cop, Rua, Wanderlie, Sokodoujou (or however you spell it) were all good Pride or K1 fighters that look like shit in the UFC. Anderson Silva and Rampage would be your obvious exceptions.

I knew fedor would win and he did, with great versatility, I must say I was worried for the russian it looked like a true legend was in danger of being dropped, he took some real offense from the giant hong man choi, but I believed fedor the winner from the start, and everyone who knows anything about mma were proven right.
