Werdum (Verdoom in the Brazilian Portuguese pronunciation although it’s not a Brazilian or Portuguese name) is a very decent striker and a top BJJ fighter, so I would never count him out. I said it before the Fedor fight and probably before all his fights. His main problem is speed, mostly brain speed. For some reason, he always looks slow on his feet and that was his undoing against JDS (and will probably be again if he doesn’t fix it). As he has been around for a really long time and has not improved on that department, he will probably get KOed again, but who knows? Maybe he can get lucky and take JDS to the ground. JDS is decent in BJJ, but he is no match to Werdum there unless he rocks Werdum before going to the ground or he keeps a defensive stance and try to get up quickly.

Anyway, on a serious note I rate JDS standup.. no complaints there. His groundgame however, may be suspect.. I saw one of his fights it was some time ago but he got sub’d by armbar….. EASILY!!….I know its a few years back but personally I think he will struggle once someone with a good top game take his ass down. He will lose….mark my words!!
