Strikeforce Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov Prelim fight videos of Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos vs Jordan Mein. The bout took place on Sep 10, 2011 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Cyborg is becoming one of those guys who everybody knows is dangerous, but just can’t win. It might be a case of mental breakdown or shaken self-confidence.
SICK elbows!!
Mein Definitley knows his range. Great movement and counter skills.
Throwing bows!
cyborg really needs to work on his hands. also add more variety to his offense the dudes a black belt after all.
call me a retard, but for awhile i thought that the female cyborg santos was married to junior dos santos, not this guy. oh well
wow, im impressed, he turned up the heat, displayed some good defence. he is canadian, wow i seen him beat jacob volkman in a smal arena. good for him, getting his 1st strikeforce win like that. nd thanx Bruno cuz i actually was really looking forward to this fite nd i ws shokd it wasnt main event quality in there eyes
Cyborg should get another tattoo. This kid Mein has very good boxing skill and he can take a shot. He’s got a lot of talent.I hope he can evolve into a contender someday.
good win, those kicks were no joke.
wow amazing elbows. I really like they way he goes in hits and comes back with great movement with out getting hit. this kid is gonna be really good. only 21!
Cyborg sucks
10 elbows for the finish in under 5 secs.. BAD. ASS. Those were thrown with force and accuracy… looking forward to seeing him fight again SOON!!!
sucks living in his wifes shadow….keeps making him lose, lmao. hes a bum anyway.
Thats the first time i ever saw so many elbows from the standing position, both of those guys are tough as nails.
once Mein switched to South paw, it was over for Cyborg, he had no answer. great stand up fight tho, go Canada!!!!
Why does Cyborg never shoots or tries to initiate a grappling match??I understand that you dont put Diaz in his guard but he did and then he fights Mein(great fighter but cyborg is definetly better grappler) and never even tries to get it on the ground even if standing up might be the only chace for Mein to win…Say wathever you want about GSP but he would never lose because of a bad strategy like alot of good fighters do.GSP takes the fight where his opponent is the least comfortable.Cyborg is well rounded enough to do that and he shouldve taken Mein on the ground and subbed him or at least try but he prefered getting stitches ,half a purse, half the chance to win and a 3 month suspension.I doubt his coaches dont make up gameplans with him so i dont know whats the problem.Myabe he needs to control his emotions, stay calm and keep fighting in your gameplan.
as long as Cyborg doesnt fight with gameplans he wont win.But to me you dont need a gameplan when you are a BJJ balck belt and your are getting your ass kicked standing-up,just take it to the ground. What Cyborg did in ths fight can be considered stupididty. Is it me or Cyborg just has a black belt for fun but he doesnt actually like to grapple? Why would you take all those hours of training for a black belt and then when its time tyo use your BJJ you simply start to brawl and lose….Dumb fighter lose all the time no matter how skilled they are.
ELBOWS!!!!!!!!
@KungFuLowKick, you have to add another perpective to your “Why”…
You must understand fighters have their comfortable zone. Some like to fight far from their opponent, others close to them.
Some fighters like to stand, others to be on the ground and so on.
Once you acknowledge that fact, then you can easily imagine the possibility that, Evangelista Ciborg like to brawl/strike/kick.
I wouldn’t be surprised that he would prefer Muay Thai to BJJ, even with the black belt, just because he likes to fight that way.
Now what I don’t understand with Cyborg, is …
With kicks like that…unless the cardio can’t allow you to repeatly kick your opponent with force. Why stop?
He did the same with Diaz. Keep chopping those legs. Kick with the left too!! Kick! Kick! Kick!. Once your opponents got both legs purple and walk like Frankenstein, chip his chin, then crack that jaw with a nice L/R combo. Pick him appart.
Big props to that Kid. Cyborg ain’t no joke. All of us in the same room with him pissed off, we would all shut the F-up and keep a damn low profile.
21 year old, more than 25 fights, i’m impressed. Don’t know if he has a ground game, but now might be the time to start one if he doesn’t.
Finally someone not affraid of using elbows at profussion. Wow!!!!
He would make The Crow Loiseau jealous.
Mein, I’ll remember his name.
Lackluster. Poor performance by Cyborg. Again. Swing and a…500x miss. Are they shadow boxing or trying to hit each other?

@Tsagoii
I understand your point but im still asking myself why not try.Even if you dont like BJJ it might be what makes the difference between a full purse and half a purse like he got.I understand he is a really comfortable striker but so is Mein. But Mein might not be as good or experienced on the ground as Cyborg so why would you not have prepared a gameplan and a training camp where you would at least put him on the ground when you lose the edge in striking
@KungFuLowKick, I think only him (Evangelista Cyborg) can answer that.
And yes, might be time for him to try some BJJ, just don’t trow yourself into another black belt BJJ (Diaz) guard’s too easily.
Reminded me of Swick vs Ray watching Santos’ head bounce off the cage like that!
Poor Cyborg, doomed to live in his wife’s shadow.
Jordan Mein’s ground game is off the hook! I’ve never seen him look bad on the ground. I’ve seen many of his fights, look up some pics from his fight at “Lets Get It On”. He NECK CRANKS a guy like steven segal when the RNC wans’t there. He’s a phenom. Just wait, he’ll be holding championship gold soon enough.
